Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To run a YouTube channel around the clock with landscape and portrait videos, plan two things separately: the order and timing of your playlist, and how each video will be framed in the stream. YouTube Live Control Room supports simultaneous horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 output, but that does not automatically turn a mixed-aspect video library into a continuous, well-framed 24/7 program. You need a playback workflow that can keep the stream going and a layout plan for each asset.
1. Build a schedule before you connect the stream
Start with a content sheet so you can see what the full rotation will look and sound like before it goes live. Group videos into program blocks by purpose—such as gameplay highlights, guides, or trailers—and decide how often each title should recur. YouTube does not prescribe a playlist formula; pacing and rotation are editorial choices.
| Track for each asset | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Title and runtime | Shows the length of each block and helps you estimate when videos will recur. |
| Aspect ratio and orientation | Identifies whether the source is landscape or portrait and which output needs a framing decision. |
| Order and program block | Helps distribute repeated titles and longer videos deliberately rather than letting the rotation feel random. |
| Layout for each output | Records the chosen framing for horizontal and vertical viewers, including any crop, fit, or designed background treatment. |
| Transitions or slate | Notes any transition or holding graphic your playback workflow uses between assets. |
Work out the complete sequence in advance, including what happens at the end of the rotation and after a stream disconnect. A playlist is an operator-selected workflow, not a continuous mixed-aspect playlist feature established by the YouTube guidance cited here.
2. Choose framing for landscape and portrait output
YouTube Help says that Live Control Room streams go live in horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 formats at the same time by default. Its vertical output is center-cropped by default, and the documented layout controls include center crop, fit-to-phone-width, stacked layouts, and adjustments for zoom and position. These controls can help with a live output, but do not assume they automatically choose an ideal frame for every prerecorded clip.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Landscape videos in a vertical stream
A center crop can remove action, faces, or on-screen text near the sides of a landscape frame. Preview each important clip in the vertical output, then adjust zoom and position where available. Compare that crop with fit-to-phone-width and stacked layouts; assess whether key content stays visible, how much of the original composition survives, and whether the result is readable on a phone.
Portrait videos in a horizontal stream
Decide how portrait footage should sit in a landscape program using your encoder or editing workflow. A background or side panel, or a designed slate, can make the unused horizontal space look intentional. The YouTube dual-format guidance cited here does not specify a portrait-to-horizontal treatment, so test the composition in your chosen software rather than expecting YouTube to frame it for you.

Keep a per-video layout record
Note the selected layout and any zoom or position adjustment beside each video in your content sheet. Test transitions between differently shaped sources too: a framing choice that suits one clip may cut off the next clip’s important content.
3. Schedule the YouTube livestream and connect your encoder
- Create the event. In YouTube Live Control Room, open the Manage tab and schedule a stream. Set the event details and metadata; reuse settings if that is useful for your channel. A scheduled stream can appear as upcoming, its URL can be shared, and viewers can request a reminder.
- Copy the connection details into your encoder. Use the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room to connect the encoder. Treat the key as a credential: YouTube describes it as the information that lets an encoder send the feed, so do not publish or expose it.
- Configure the playback rotation. In your chosen encoder and playback workflow, load the planned sequence and confirm it can repeat as intended. YouTube’s cited help pages explain stream setup, but do not specify an automated method to turn a mixed-aspect video library into a continuous 24/7 channel.
- Verify disconnect behavior. Check what your encoder and playback software do if the connection drops, and how you will restore the stream and resume the rotation. Do not assume a scheduled event or a successful first connection guarantees uninterrupted 24/7 playback.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive behavior is not proof that a stream can run continuously for 24 hours or restart seamlessly; plan and test the playback and recovery behavior of your own setup.

4. Test the complete rotation and monitor it
YouTube recommends testing before going live, checking the preview, monitoring audio, video, and stream health, inspecting local archive files, and testing encoder failover. For a 24/7 schedule, make those checks part of your operating routine rather than treating the initial launch as the only test.
- Run the exact sequence you plan to publish, including transitions, audio, and layout changes.
- Inspect horizontal and vertical previews for cropped faces, game HUDs, captions, or other essential details.
- Monitor the stream’s audio, video, and health indicators while the encoder is connected.
- Test what happens when the encoder disconnects or needs to recover, and confirm how playback resumes.
- Check that local archive files are present and that their size is growing as expected.
YouTube’s guidance supports advance preparation and failover testing, but the behavior after a disconnect depends on the encoder and playback workflow you choose. Confirm it under realistic conditions before relying on it for a continuous channel. External storage may help keep source videos or local archive copies organized, but YouTube does not require a particular storage device for this schedule.
