To Party Play in Pokémon GO, meet with one to three nearby Trainers, have one person create a Party lobby, and let the others join by QR code or Party Code. Choose a Party Challenge and complete its tasks to earn the rewards shown for that challenge. Parties can also build Party Power together in raids, and eligible item effects can be shared with the group.
Who can join a Party?
A Party includes two to four Trainers, counting the host. Members need to be physically near one another, and the standard minimum Trainer Level is 21. A session can last up to three hours unless the host ends it sooner. Check the game’s current requirements if a player cannot join, since feature rules may change.

Child accounts
Party Play has additional limits for child accounts. A parent or guardian must enable it in parental controls; a child account cannot host and must meet further requirements to join. Child avatars do not appear on the Party map. Consult the current Pokémon GO Help Center Party Play guidance for the applicable account conditions.
How to start Party Play
- Meet nearby. Gather two to four eligible Trainers in the same physical area.
- Open the Party tab. The host opens their Trainer Profile and selects the Party tab, then creates a Party lobby.
- Invite the group. Other Trainers scan the lobby’s QR code or enter its Party Code. They have up to 15 minutes to join.
- Start the session. Once at least one other Trainer has joined, the host starts the Party.
Niantic’s instructions cover creating a lobby and joining through its code or QR option: how to host a Party and how to join a Party.

How to earn Party Play rewards
When a session begins, the group selects from the Party Challenges available in the game. Tasks may ask the group to spin PokéStops or Gyms or catch a set number of Pokémon. The rewards depend on the selected challenge; there is no single guaranteed reward package or fixed amount for every Party.
Track progress from the Party Play button or Party tab. When the group completes a challenge, the host is prompted to choose another. Review the task and reward details presented in your game before selecting one. See Niantic’s Party Play usage guidance for the feature’s current instructions.

What Party Power does in raids
When Party members battle a raid boss together, their attacks fill the Party Power meter. Once it is full, a Trainer’s next Charged Attack gets a special boost. The bonus belongs to the Trainer rather than the Pokémon currently on the field, so it can still apply to the next Pokémon if the active one faints. It is a cooperative raid bonus, separate from the rewards for completing a Party Challenge. Details are in the official Party Play instructions.
Sharing eligible item effects
Use the Share control in the Party tab to share eligible item effects with Party members. Each member receives a portion of the effect, and a shared effect may stack with an effect already active, subject to applicable limits. Not every inventory item is eligible, so check the sharing options shown in the game rather than assuming an item can be shared. Niantic explains this feature in its Party Play safety and settings guidance.

Party Play and Weekly Challenges are different
Party Play is an in-person session with a host, Party Challenges, and cooperative raid features. Weekly Challenges are a separate feature organized around a weekly group goal; their instructions discuss rewards that may include encounters, items, and XP, as well as friendship progress. Those reward categories and rules belong to Weekly Challenges, not Party Play. Check the separate Weekly Challenges help page for its rules.

During a Party session, members can see one another’s approximate real-world locations. The location-sharing setting can be disabled in Settings, and location is no longer shared after the Party ends. Because the feature displays approximate locations, play with people you trust and review the setting before starting. See the official safety and settings guidance for current controls.
