What a Lure does and how long it lasts
A Lure attracts wild Pokémon to its PokéStop, and nearby Trainers benefit from its effect too. Its usual duration is 30 minutes, according to the Pokémon GO Help Center; seasons or special events can change how long it lasts.
How to choose a Special Lure
Special Lures attract examples of Pokémon associated with certain types. These are attraction themes, not guarantees that a Pokémon of every listed type will appear.

Certain Pokémon can also evolve when you are near a PokéStop with a Special Lure installed. If an evolution is available, its special option appears on that Pokémon’s detail page.
