To keep one fireplace video playing on an Android TV box, open it in YouTube and turn on Repeat for the current video. Autoplay is different: it starts another related video after the current one ends. For longer playback, also check the box’s screensaver and Energy Saver settings, since device menus and idle behavior vary.
Loop a fireplace video in YouTube
- Open YouTube on your Android TV box. If it is not installed, look for it in the device’s Google Play Store; Google says YouTube is already available on most smart TVs and streaming devices, and documents the Play Store as an installation route. See YouTube’s installation instructions.
- Search for a fireplace video and start playback. You can also use the Android TV YouTube app’s search and account features as described in Google’s Android TV YouTube guide.
- While the video is playing, press Down on the remote to display playback controls. Select Repeat and confirm that it is set to repeat the current video. Depending on the app layout, Repeat may also be available under Settings while watching.
YouTube also supports a separate Repeat • Playlist mode for playlists. If your goal is to show only one fireplace clip, select the current-video Repeat control rather than relying on a playlist or autoplay. The control is documented in YouTube’s loop instructions.
Keep the box and display from going idle
Repeat makes the video start again when it ends; it does not override every device or television power setting. Android TV and Google TV include Ambient Mode, and Android Developers says the platform enters it after 10 minutes of user inactivity. A device may later enter Energy Saver mode according to its own setting. That 10-minute figure describes the stated inactivity behavior, not a guaranteed total playback timeout.
Android Developers’ Ambient Mode guidance says video apps should prevent Ambient Mode during user-initiated playback, but should allow it after playback stops or is paused. This is platform guidance, not a guarantee for every app version, Android TV box, or connected TV.

- Open your box’s settings and look for Screen saver, Ambient Mode, Display, or Energy Saver. Exact names and available choices depend on the device.
- Google’s instructions describe changing the screen saver in Android TV settings and selecting Backdrop, but options differ by device. Check Google’s screen saver guidance or the box maker’s instructions if the menus do not match.
- Check the television’s own power and screensaver settings too. A TV can have separate idle behavior from the Android TV box.
Use a fireplace ambience app instead
A dedicated app may offer a fireplace-focused scene library or screensaver features, but confirm that the current listing supports your exact box and check which features are paid before installing or subscribing. Store descriptions can change; the details below are claims in the Google Play listings, not independently tested performance guarantees.

Troubleshoot interruptions
- A different video starts: Autoplay is enabled, so YouTube is playing a related video after the clip ends. Turn on Repeat for the current video instead. See YouTube’s Autoplay instructions for the TV app setting.
- The screen goes dark or shows a screensaver: Check both the box’s and TV’s screensaver, Ambient Mode, and Energy Saver settings. Device options vary, and active playback behavior can differ across apps and hardware.
- The video stops repeating: Reopen playback controls and check that Repeat is still selected for the current video. If the app layout differs, use YouTube’s loop instructions linked above.
- You cannot find a setting mentioned here: Android TV menus vary by manufacturer and model. Consult your box maker’s instructions rather than assuming a universal “never sleep” option exists.
- A dedicated app is unavailable or a feature is locked: Check the app’s current Play Store listing for compatibility and subscription requirements; listing details and availability can change.
