Connect your TV or streaming device to your Airtel Xstream Fiber Wi-Fi, open YouTube, find a radio playlist, and press play. Fiber supplies the internet connection; your TV still needs a YouTube app or a compatible connected device. You can also cast YouTube from your phone on a compatible setup.
Choose where YouTube will play
Use the YouTube app built into your smart TV if it has one. If it does not, use a streaming device or box that supports YouTube. Airtel documents YouTube and Chromecast support on its Xstream Box, but you do not need that box if your TV already has YouTube or you own another compatible device.

Airtel’s Xstream Box guide describes it as a way to turn a regular TV into a smart one, but it is only one option. The right choice depends on what you already own and what your TV supports. See Airtel’s guide to watching YouTube on TV and its Xstream FAQ for box information.
Connect the TV or box to Airtel Wi-Fi
- Turn on the TV and the streaming box, if you are using one.
- Open the device’s network or Wi-Fi settings. Menu names differ by TV and box model.
- Select your Airtel home Wi-Fi network and enter its password.
- Confirm that the device is connected, then return to its home screen.
Airtel says Xstream TV needs an internet connection through Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot. The Xstream Box manual also shows Wi-Fi selection during setup; its screens may not match every software version. If you need device-specific setup details, consult the Xstream Box manual.

Find and play a YouTube radio playlist
- Open YouTube on the TV or box.
- Search by playlist name, station, genre, or creator. For example, try the name of the station or music style you want.
- Choose the playlist that matches your listening preference and start playback.
Playlist titles, search results, and app navigation depend on YouTube and the device. Airtel confirms YouTube access on its box, but does not specify a particular radio playlist interface or guarantee that a given playlist will be available.
Cast YouTube from your phone if you prefer
- Connect the phone and TV or Xstream Box to a compatible network setup.
- Open the YouTube app on your phone and select the cast control.
- Choose the TV or box from the available devices, then start the playlist.
Airtel documents Chromecast support and smartphone casting for its Xstream Box. Casting is optional: if YouTube on the TV works for you, you can select and control playback with the TV or box remote instead.

Understand TV playback, ads, and background play
YouTube says Premium benefits such as ad-free music videos are available on supported TV-connected devices when you are signed in. Its support page distinguishes living-room playback from mobile background playback: offline and background play are available in the YouTube, YouTube Kids, and YouTube Music mobile apps, and the YouTube Music app is not available on living-room devices. Do not assume the TV will keep playing with its screen off. Check YouTube’s current Premium benefits and device terms for your device and membership.
Plan features can change. On 12 March 2026, Google’s YouTube Team announced that Premium Lite background play and downloads were rolling out in India for most videos, while distinguishing those benefits from full YouTube Premium background play for music content and YouTube Music Premium. Troubleshoot common problems
- YouTube is missing from the TV: Check the TV’s app store or use a compatible streaming device. Airtel Fiber provides internet, not a YouTube app by itself.
- The app cannot connect or videos will not start: Verify that the TV or box is connected to the Airtel Wi-Fi network and that the internet is working on the device. Airtel documents Wi-Fi or hotspot access for Xstream TV; exact network menus vary.
- Your phone cannot find the TV when casting: Check that the TV or box supports casting and that the devices are on a compatible network setup. If casting remains unavailable, open YouTube directly on the TV or box.
- The playlist stops when the TV screen turns off: TV-connected playback is not the same as mobile background playback. Check the TV’s power or screen settings and YouTube’s current device and membership terms rather than assuming background play is included.
- The playlist contains interruptions or is unavailable: Try another playlist or creator, and check the displayed title and availability in YouTube. Availability can vary; Airtel does not guarantee any particular playlist.
