Apex Legends cross-play is enabled by default on PC, and EA says PC players cannot turn it off. There is no separate PC toggle to switch on. To play with a console friend, add them through the in-game Friends menu, then invite them to your lobby.
How to add and invite a friend on another platform
- Open the Friends menu in Apex Legends.
- Select Find Friend and search for your friend’s username on their platform.
- Send a friend request. They must accept it from the request shown in their lobby.
- After they are added, open the Friends menu and send them a game invite. They must accept the invite in the lobby.

Which matchmaking pool will your party enter?
EA describes the standard arrangement as console players matching with console players and PC players matching with PC players. If a console player joins a party with a PC player, the party is placed in PC matches.
Can you turn cross-play off?
EA Help says PC players cannot disable cross-play. On supported non-PC platforms, players may be able to opt out in the game settings; EA warns that this can mean a high chance of very long queues because opted-out players are matched with same-platform players who have also disabled cross-play. Does PC need a separate system or launcher setting?
EA’s FAQ identifies an additional system-level cross-play setting for Xbox One. It does not direct PC players to change an operating-system or launcher setting, so the Xbox One instruction does not apply as a PC setup step.

- Make sure Apex Legends is up to date.
- Check that your friend request was sent through the in-game Friends menu and accepted in the other player’s lobby.
- Once you are friends, send a party invite from the Friends menu and have the recipient accept it.
EA’s published guidance does not give additional PC-specific cross-play troubleshooting steps beyond these basics.
