Cayo Perico Survival is an undead-themed GTA Online activity launched on August 28, 2025—not a newly released mode. Players fight through successive waves on Cayo Perico and can try to escape by plane at the airstrip or continue into endless waves. Reports from launch describe solo play and groups of up to four, but availability and menu access may have changed since then.
What is Cayo Perico Survival?
Cayo Perico Survival is a GTA Online survival activity set across locations on Cayo Perico. Its objective is to endure successive attacks from undead enemies while moving through the island toward the airstrip. Rockstar’s launch description calls out undead conquistadors armed with muskets, Panther Trainers and their feral pets, and swarms of Splitters. Rockstar’s August 28, 2025 announcement describes the push to the airstrip and warns that the evacuation plane may take time.

Launch coverage described two possible outcomes: board the Velum at the airstrip to evacuate, or continue with endless waves at different island locations. It is survival combat with a deliberately strange tropical-horror theme, rather than a separate standalone game mode. Kotaku’s launch-day report reproduced Rockstar’s description.
How to start Cayo Perico Survival
Launch-era reports described two ways to find the activity. Menus, markers and event availability can change, so these are historical directions rather than a guarantee that the same route is available now.

- Open the Pause Menu and select Jobs → Rockstar Created → Survivals → Cayo Perico Survival, as reported by RockstarINTEL at launch.
- Alternatively, look for the pink palm tree marker labeled Cayo Perico Series near the southern Los Santos docks, according to GameSpot’s launch coverage.
- Launch reports say the activity supports solo play or a group of up to four players. The party-size figure is from GameSpot’s 2025 report; current matchmaking options were not verified.
What happens during a run?
Launch reporting describes a route that shifts between the compound, Main Dock, West Beach and North Dock as waves and enemy types change. The run culminates at the airstrip, where players can board the Velum to leave or opt for more waves. These locations and mechanics were reported by RockstarINTEL; they are not independently tested here.
RockstarINTEL also reported that the radar is unavailable except when using the weapon wheel, and that players can find weapon, explosive and health pickups. Treat those details as launch-report information rather than confirmed current behavior.

Enemies and survival-horror tone
The enemy roster goes beyond standard zombies. Rockstar’s launch description names conquistadors with muskets, Panther Trainers and their animals, and Splitters. Launch coverage additionally identified hostile DJ zombies that affect movement, along with explosive and armored undead. RockstarINTEL’s report covers those additional enemy types.

Is Cayo Perico Survival available now?
The activity launched on August 28, 2025, and was reported to return during the August 6–12, 2026 event week. Those dates establish that it launched and later returned, but they do not confirm that it is playable on October 8, 2026. Check the current GTA Online Jobs menu or active event listings in-game before planning a run or expecting a specific reward.
