You generally can’t install or run Windows PC game files directly on a PS5. To play a classic PC RPG, check for an official PlayStation port first; otherwise, see whether the game is currently available to stream through PlayStation Plus. Remote Play is a separate option for streaming a PlayStation console you own—it does not stream PC games to your PS5.
1. Check for a PlayStation port
A console release is usually the most direct way to play a PC-origin RPG on PS5. PlayStation Store listings in the United States identify several classic RPG collections as PS4 releases playable on PS5:

2. Use PS4 backward compatibility
PS5 supports the overwhelming majority of PS4 games. PlayStation’s support page describes this as “the overwhelming majority of the 4,000+ PS4 games”; that figure is the size of the broader PS4 catalog, not a count of classic RPG ports. Some PS4 features may be missing, and certain games can show errors or behave unexpectedly. A Store page marked “Playable on: PS4 only” means the game cannot run on PS5. Sign in to the PlayStation account that owns the game and download it from your game library.

PS4 game discs
A PS4 disc requires a PS5 model with a disc drive, and you must keep the disc inserted to play. PS4 discs do not work on PS5 Digital Edition. PS5 also does not support PS3 discs, so owning an older PlayStation disc does not itself provide a way to play that game on PS5. PlayStation PS5 backward compatibility support
3. Stream an eligible PlayStation game
PlayStation Plus streaming can run games that are eligible in the Classics Catalog or other qualifying catalog offerings. Availability depends on the specific title, membership plan, and region, and catalog selections can change. Check the current Store or catalog listing before subscribing for a particular RPG. Sony says 1080p streaming requires both a game that supports that resolution and a broadband connection of at least 15 Mbps. Streaming also has practical limits: queues may occur, mouse and keyboard are unsupported, and Remote Play and some other console features and devices are unavailable during a PlayStation Plus stream. This is a way to stream supported PlayStation games, not a way to launch a game from a Windows PC library on the PS5.

4. Understand what Remote Play does
PS Remote Play lets you view and control your own PS4 or PS5 on a supported PC, Mac, or mobile device. It streams from the console you own or can access; it does not make the PS5 compatible with Windows games, turn it into a remote PC, or provide a cloud library of PC titles. Sony’s support page lists a minimum connection speed of 5 Mbps for both upload and download. Some games do not support Remote Play, and games requiring particular equipment may be incompatible. The official PlayStation documentation for these options covers PlayStation Plus streaming and Remote Play; it does not establish a native PS5 client for GeForce NOW or another third-party PC cloud gaming service. Don’t treat such a service as a verified PS5 method unless current support is confirmed by the service and PlayStation.

Choose the route that fits your game
- Search the regional PlayStation Store for the exact title and edition. Check whether it has a PS4 or PS5 release and read its PS5 compatibility notes. Store availability and pricing can differ by region and change over time.
- Check what you already own. A digital PS4 license can be downloaded to PS5 through the owning account. A disc copy requires a PS5 with a disc drive.
- Check current streaming eligibility. Confirm that the game is listed for streaming in your region and identify the required PlayStation Plus plan before paying.
- Decide where you want to play. Use the PS5 for installed or eligible streamed PlayStation games. Use Remote Play only to access a compatible game running on your own console from another supported device.
The examples above are not a complete list of PC-origin RPGs with PlayStation ports. Store listings and PlayStation Plus catalogs can change, and the cited PlayStation pages are for the United States; players elsewhere should check their regional Store and membership terms.
