If none of the dice score, you bust and lose the points you have not banked that turn.
How a turn works
- Roll all six dice at the start of your turn.
- Select at least one scoring die or combination. Those dice are set aside and add to your turn total.
- Choose whether to bank your accumulated points or roll the remaining dice again. Banking ends your turn and keeps those points; rolling again puts the turn total at risk.
- If a roll has no scoring result, you bust (also called a Farkle) and lose the unbanked points from that turn.
The game calls the minigame Dice. “Farkle” is a common name for the bust outcome and for related real-world dice games. The KCD2 rules summary here comes from the community guide KCD2 Dice Rules, Odds & Best Sets, updated September 2, 2026; it is not official developer documentation.
Which dice and combinations score?
The community guide describes these core scoring results:
- A single 1 scores 100 points.
- A single 5 scores 50 points.
- Three 1s score 1,000 points.
- Other triples score the face value multiplied by 100.
- Straights score from 500 to 1,500 points, depending on the combination.
Non-scoring pairs of 2s, 3s, 4s, or 6s do not count as scoring selections, so they cannot be set aside on their own to keep a turn going. Because the community guide is not an authoritative rules source and combinations can be easy to misread, check the scoring chart shown in your current game before relying on a particular straight or combination value.

When should you bank instead of rolling again?
There is no single bank threshold established as optimal. Consider three things before taking another roll:
- Your unbanked total: the more points you have built up this turn, the more you stand to lose on a bust.
- Dice remaining: rolling fewer dice means fewer chances to find a scoring result, though the exact risk depends on the dice you are using.
- The opponent’s position: if your opponent is close to the target, taking a risk may be more attractive than banking a small lead or falling further behind.
Bank earlier when protecting a useful score matters more than adding to it. If you are trailing, you may choose to risk another roll for a larger turn total. This is a practical way to frame the decision, not a mathematically guaranteed strategy.
Do different dice change the game?
Yes. The default and collectible dice may have different face probabilities, which can affect how often you see particular scoring faces or combinations. No reliable official probability table is available here, so exact odds or a universally best set cannot be stated. Compare dice qualitatively: consider which faces they favor, how much you value steady smaller scores versus high-risk combinations, and how many dice remain when deciding to roll again.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is KCD2 Dice the same as Farkle?
It has a familiar push-your-luck structure and uses “Farkle” as a name for a roll with no scoring result, but do not assume every version of the physical game has the same scoring rules as KCD2. Farkle rules vary by source and house rules; a general fan-made rules page such as Farkle Online’s guide is context for the broader game, not proof of KCD2 mechanics. A physical six-dice set is only relevant if you want to play a separate real-world version; it is not needed for the minigame.
