Executor’s Cursed Sword can deflect enemy attacks, and it has no cooldown: you can enter and leave its stance freely. The key is to practice the timing in the training area, then use the stance deliberately to answer attacks rather than staying in it by default.
How Cursed Sword works
Executor’s defining skill draws a cursed sword that can deflect enemy attacks, according to Bandai Namco Europe’s Executor overview. The publisher’s advanced tips say Cursed Sword is the only character skill with no cooldown, so you can enter and exit the stance at will.

That makes it a stance to use in response to the fight, not a limited-use ability you need to save. The official description confirms the deflection function, but does not establish a universal timing window or a complete button-by-button tutorial.
A practical Executor combat loop
- Fight and reposition with your ordinary weapons. Nightfarers can use every weapon type, so Executor is not locked to a particular weapon. Pick up equipment as you explore and use the weapon that suits the current situation.
- Watch for an incoming attack. When you intend to answer an enemy strike with a deflection, enter Cursed Sword rather than treating the stance as your default movement or attack mode.
- Practice the timing. Try the skill against different attacks in the training area before relying on it during an expedition. The official Starter Guide announcement specifically notes that players can experiment with Cursed Sword there.
- Exit the stance when you need to do something else. Since there is no cooldown, you can leave it freely and return to ordinary attacks or movement as the situation changes.
How Executor fits into a Nightreign expedition
Nightreign is built around cooperative expeditions in which field conditions change and players gather equipment while exploring. Executor’s skill gives the character a deflection option, but it does not remove the need to adapt to the team, the enemies, and the weapons found during a run. The official game site describes the expedition structure and the range of weapons available to Nightfarers.

Choose weapons based on what the expedition provides and how you want to fight; the character’s identity shapes how you use them, rather than restricting you to one weapon class. Coordinate with teammates as the situation demands instead of assuming Executor has a fixed team role or a universally superior build.

Executor-specific build advice can become outdated. In Version 1.03.2 patch notes, Bandai Namco America adjusted how certain skill and melee-attack-power effects apply to weapon arts while Cursed Sword is active. Treat older recommendations about those interactions cautiously and check newer patch notes before relying on them.
