What you need
- An Android phone or tablet with the Google Play Store app. If you need a device for this, look for an Android phone with Google Play; buying a particular phone still does not guarantee that the Easter egg will be shown.
- A temporary offline connection. You can turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data or enable airplane mode.
- A Play Store version and device configuration that still exposes the offline game card.
You do not need to install a separate game, create an account, connect a controller, or download an APK.
How to open Hot Air Balloon in Google Play Store
- Disconnect from the internet. Turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data, or switch on airplane mode. If you use airplane mode, you can turn Wi-Fi back on only if you want to test whether the offline screen was caused by another problem; to trigger the Easter egg, leave the device genuinely offline.
- Open the Google Play Store app.

Hot Air Balloon is not the same as similarly named Play Store apps
Search results may show separate balloon-themed games, including listings with names such as Hot Air Balloon: Offline Game. Those are third-party apps with their own developer, advertising, in-app purchases, and download requirements. Installing one does not prove that Google’s hidden Play Store Easter egg is available, and it is not the same experience described here.
If the built-in game is missing, do not download a random APK claiming to restore it. An APK from an unknown source can create security and privacy risks, and it will not necessarily reproduce Google’s Play Store feature.
What to do if the game does not appear
Absence of the game does not necessarily mean you followed the steps incorrectly. Try this limited troubleshooting sequence:

If these steps do not reveal Hot Air Balloon, the most likely explanation is a device, region, Android release, Play Store version, or feature-availability difference. There is no documented universal switch that forces the card to appear.
Is Hot Air Balloon still available?
The feature was reported in 2020 and received wider attention in late 2020 and early 2021. Historical coverage described Hot Air Balloon as one of the games shown in the Play Store’s offline area; other reports mentioned games such as Solitaire or Snake appearing there as well.
