One person buys and runs Jackbox Party Pack 12, shares the game window in a Zoom meeting or Discord voice channel, and sends everyone the room code. Every other player joins jackbox.tv on a phone, tablet, or other web-enabled device and uses that device as a controller. No one else needs to purchase the pack or own a dedicated gamepad.
The setup in one sentence
The host needs a copy of Party Pack 12 on a supported device, a stable internet connection, and a Zoom or Discord call capable of sharing the game screen and its audio. Players need only the invitation, a browser-capable phone or tablet, and the room code displayed in the shared game.

Jackbox Games states that “Only one person in your group needs to own a Jackbox product in order to host the game.” Its remote-play guidance specifically names Discord and Zoom as screen-sharing options. The Xbox store description likewise says that only one person needs to own the game and that phones serve as controllers.

Party Pack 12 contains five separate games. Each is designed for two to eight players, so a single remote session can include up to eight people in the game lobby. Voice-chat participants who are watching but not entering answers do not count toward the in-game player limit.

Availability, price, and ownership
Jackbox Games announced on October 15, 2026 that Party Pack 12 is available for $29.99 on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The $29.99 Xbox listing supports two to eight local players. Store pricing and taxes can vary by region, so check the storefront serving the host’s account before purchase.
The purchase requirement is limited to the host. Remote guests do not buy another copy, and their phones are ordinary web controllers rather than a required accessory. A host can therefore invite players who have never used a console or PC game, provided they can join the call and open a browser.
What everyone should have ready
- Host copy: One installed copy of Party Pack 12 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch.
- Screen-sharing service: A Zoom meeting or Discord voice channel. Jackbox officially supports both approaches.
- Controller devices: One phone, tablet, or other web-enabled device per player.
- Room code: The four-letter-style code shown after the host launches a game. Players enter it at jackbox.tv.
- Network: Stable broadband for the host, who is uploading the game stream while the game itself is running.
- Audio plan: One clear call audio source. Duplicate speakers or microphones commonly create echo.
Ask players to charge their phones, keep the call invitation available, and use a browser that can load jackbox.tv. They do not need to install a Jackbox app or pair a Bluetooth controller for the normal flow.

- Launch the pack. The host opens Party Pack 12 on the chosen console or computer and selects the game for the group.
- Start the meeting. Open Zoom, create the meeting, and send the invitation to the players. Keep the meeting window available while the game runs.
- Share only the game. Choose Zoom’s screen-sharing command and select the Jackbox game window when that option is available. Sharing a single window prevents unrelated desktop content or notifications from appearing.
- Enable shared computer audio. In Zoom’s share controls, turn on the option that shares the computer’s system audio. The exact label and placement can differ by Zoom version; verify it before inviting everyone if possible.
- Show the room code. Once the game displays its lobby code, read it aloud and leave the game window visible in the shared feed.
- Have players join. Each player opens jackbox.tv on a phone or browser-capable device, enters the current code, and chooses a name.
- Check the lobby. Wait until every expected player appears on the host’s game screen. If a name is missing, stop before starting and confirm that person entered the current code.
- Start and play. Begin the game. Players submit answers on their phones while watching the shared Zoom window for prompts, timers, results, and instructions.
Keep the Zoom call visible if players need to hear debate, presentations, or shouted reactions. They can look at the game on the shared screen while holding the phone below or beside the computer display.

- 300x Task Cards, 18x Voting Tokens, 6x Secret Wallets (5 working, 1 Faker), 1x Reveal Wallet
How to play through Discord
- Open a Discord voice channel. The host launches Party Pack 12, then creates or joins a server voice channel for the session.
- Invite the group. Send channel access to every player and confirm that voice chat works before starting the game.
- Start a screen share. Use Discord’s screen-share command and select the Jackbox game window rather than the entire desktop when the client offers that choice.
- Confirm stream audio. Check Discord’s current stream and audio controls so game prompts are audible to remote players. Discord changes the location and names of these controls across client versions.
- Display the code. Keep the game lobby on screen and announce the room code shown there.
- Join on a browser device. Every player opens jackbox.tv, enters the code, and supplies a display name.
- Wait for the full lobby. Compare the in-game player list with the people in the voice channel. Start only after everyone who intends to play is visible.
- Play with voice chat open. Debate and Switch benefits from live microphones, while Hyperface and the other visual games depend on an unobstructed, readable stream.
Discord can be convenient when your group already uses a server, but the host should test stream permissions and audio before game night. Server permissions, client updates, and the plan in use can affect available controls.
How players use a phone as the controller
- Stay in the Zoom or Discord call on the computer, tablet, or another screen used to watch the game.
- Open a separate browser tab on a phone or other web-enabled device and go to jackbox.tv.
- Type the room code exactly as it appears on the host’s shared game screen.
- Choose a name that the group can recognize. If the game rejects a duplicate or unsuitable name, select another.
- Leave the browser tab open during play. Enter answers, select options, and draw or edit when the game requests it.
The phone is a private input surface; the host’s shared game is where prompts, timers, submitted answers, voting, and scores appear. Players should not expect their phone to show the full game presentation.
Zoom or Discord: which is better?
Jackbox confirms both services as suitable remote screen-sharing choices and does not rank one above the other. Choose based on what your group already knows and which service gives the host the simplest, most reliable audio and video path.

Screen sharing adds workload beyond launching the game. Close unrelated applications, browser tabs, overlays, and notifications before broadcasting. Meeting software, the game, and the operating system must have enough memory to run at the same time.
Host checklist before inviting everyone
- Install or update the pack and launch the game you intend to play.
- Open the Zoom meeting or Discord channel and test microphone input.
- Share the game window with one test participant.
- Verify that game audio, not just the host’s microphone, reaches the test participant.
- Check that the shared image is large enough to read room codes, timers, and answer text.
- Close unrelated notifications and avoid sharing the whole desktop when a game-window option exists.
- Keep the host device plugged in if it is a laptop.
- Have each player open jackbox.tv only after the code appears, reducing confusion when a new round generates a different code.
Troubleshooting remote sessions
A player cannot join
Ask the player to refresh jackbox.tv, verify the code character by character, and confirm that the host has not already started a new room. Room codes are tied to the current lobby; an old code will not bring a player into a later game. A browser-enabled phone or tablet is required for the normal controller flow.
The game audio is missing
In Zoom, reopen the share controls and enable system or computer audio. In Discord, inspect the current stream-audio option and confirm that the selected source is the Jackbox game window. The host should also check that the game and operating system are not muted.

Players hear an echo
Echo usually comes from the same call audio being played through multiple nearby speakers and re-entering microphones. Ask participants to mute duplicate devices, use headphones, or leave audio enabled on only one device per person. Keep one clear audio source for the host’s game and conversation.
The stream is blurry or difficult to read
Share only the game window, enlarge it before streaming, and reduce unnecessary camera tiles. If the service allows stream-quality choices, select a setting the host’s connection can sustain. Hyperface and text-heavy rounds need a sharper image than a conversation-focused call.
Answers feel late in a fast round
Fast-response games are more sensitive to screen-share delay than untimed discussion. If the delay becomes severe, pause between rounds, stop and restart the screen share, or reconnect the call before continuing. The player should still submit on the phone, but the prompt and countdown must arrive promptly enough to be fair.

The host’s computer struggles
Close unrelated programs, lower unnecessary video effects, and share a single game window rather than the whole desktop. Recheck the PC requirements above, especially available memory and graphics capability. If the machine still cannot maintain a readable stream, move the host role to a supported console or another computer.

Game-specific remote-play advice
We Forgot a Card
Because the game centers on card designs and jokes, make sure the stream shows the complete card rather than a cropped window. Give players time to read each card aloud in voice chat before reactions or voting begin.
MegaPals
Keep the countdown visible and ask players not to switch between call and controller tabs unnecessarily. A stable stream is more important here because the challenge is matching quick choices.
Debate and Switch
Use a microphone for each presenter and avoid talking over the person whose turn it is. The host should keep the call controls available so a presenter can be heard while the game screen remains shared.
Idol Factions
Players need to read categories and sort answers under time pressure. Enlarge the shared game window and ask spectators to keep camera tiles from covering the game area.
Hyperface
This game depends on seeing photo edits, warping, and drawings. Use the clearest screen-share mode available, and have players describe what they changed if compression makes fine details hard to see.
How a typical remote night flows
- The host buys and installs the pack on a supported platform.
- The host creates a Zoom meeting or Discord voice channel and invites the group.
- The host launches one of the five games and shares the game window with audio.
- The room code appears; each player enters it at jackbox.tv and chooses a name.
- The host checks the in-game lobby, then starts the round.
- Players use phones for private input and the shared screen for prompts, results, and scores.
- Between games, the host returns to the pack menu and repeats the join process if a new room code appears.
This arrangement keeps ownership and technical work with one host while allowing everyone else to participate from a browser device. It also means the host is responsible for the stream, audio, and room-code handoff, so a short test before the event prevents most interruptions.
