To play Pokémon GO in Perth, open the game while you are out, use its map to find nearby Pokémon, PokéStops and Gyms, and check the app’s live Routes and event listings before choosing where to go. For local meetups, start with Pokémon GO’s official community map and Campfire; community activity and access conditions can change.
How Pokémon GO works outdoors
Pokémon GO connects play to real-world locations. While walking around Perth, use the in-game map to spot nearby Pokémon, catch them, spin PokéStops for items and battle at Gyms. The game’s original launch announcement describes exploring neighborhoods and cities, collecting items, hatching and training Pokémon, and battling at Gyms: Niantic’s Pokémon GO launch announcement.

You can make a casual walk more purposeful by following a Route. Routes are player experiences that begin at a PokéStop or Gym and guide you along a path. To find one, open the Nearby menu, select the Route tab, choose an available Route and follow it. Mateo may appear near the endpoint for a Gift Exchange. Availability is local and can change, so check the app for Routes in the part of Perth you plan to visit rather than assuming a particular route is still available. See Pokémon GO’s Routes guide.
Where to look for Pokémon GO groups in Perth
The most reliable starting point for finding organised activity is Pokémon GO’s official community page. Its community map highlights suggested locations, popular parks and activations associated with Community Ambassadors or Community Leaders. Listings are subject to change; confirm the details on the map rather than relying on an old post.
#1 Best Overall
- The packaging is Japanese, but item works the same as the US version.
- Catch Pokémon and track your rest rhythm with the Pokémon GO Plus + accessory!
- Keep track of your sleep with the press of a button
- Press and hold the central button on the Pokémon GO Plus + accessory and place it by your pillow to track your rest rhythm on the Pokémon Sleep app
- There’s a Pikachu within your Pokémon GO Plus + that can sing you lullabies and act as your morning alarm; Pikachu grows friendlier the more you sleep, unlocking even more sounds!
Campfire can also help you find nearby Raid Battles and connect with local communities. Check Campfire for current activity, then verify any meetup’s date, location and requirements before travelling. Community Ambassadors receive support from Pokémon GO to run events, but that does not mean every local group or gathering is official. Learn about the program in Pokémon GO’s Community Ambassador information.
CBD and Kings Park: leads, not guaranteed meetups
A Perth player discussion mentions groups moving between the CBD and Kings Park. Treat those areas as possible places to check, not confirmed hotspots, scheduled gatherings or officially endorsed locations. The local report is anecdotal and does not establish current activity. Check the community map or Campfire before setting out; the discussion is at the Perth community thread.

- Spin PokéStops or throw Poké Balls automatically in Pokémon GO for hands-free gameplay (and Great Balls and Ultra Balls can be thrown too!)
How to check events and local activity
Event schedules change. Use the in-game news and event calendar to see what is current or upcoming, and use the official community map or Campfire to check for local gatherings and raids. Do not assume that a past Perth meetup, event date or organizer is still active unless a current official listing confirms it.
A City of Perth monitored-activities report may list events and public locations, but it is not a Pokémon GO calendar and cannot confirm that informal game meetups are absent. For Pokémon GO activity, rely on the game’s current listings and community tools.

Plan for access and a longer outdoor session
Check Perth Park notices before travelling
A Western Australian Government flyer dated February 2026 said Perth Park would temporarily close to the public during construction and that a pedestrian path would close from 16 February 2026. It described detours via Camfield Drive or Victoria Park Drive and recommended public transport to Optus Stadium where possible. This is a dated notice, not confirmation of today’s access conditions. Check current Perth Park notices before planning a walk through the precinct.
Keep your phone charged
Charge your phone before a long outdoor session. Pokémon GO’s official GO Fest 2026 preparation advice says, “Make sure your phone is fully charged.” The post discusses events in Tokyo, Chicago and Copenhagen; its mention of portable charger kiosks applies to those event venues, not Perth. A portable phone power bank is an optional convenience if you expect to be out for a while, not a game requirement. See the GO Fest 2026 preparation guide.

How to choose a group or gathering
If you find several possible ways to join other Trainers, compare the details that affect your visit rather than relying on an old recommendation:
- Current activity: Is there a recent listing with a date and time?
- Location and access: How far is it from you, and can you reach the area comfortably?
- Status: Is it a Pokémon GO-listed activation or a community-organised meetup?
- Requirements: Does it require a ticket or any other advance arrangement?
Confirm these details in the live community map or Campfire. A mention in a local discussion is not enough to rank groups or establish that a meetup is still running.
