If you mean the Slayer skill in Old School RuneScape (OSRS), ask a Slayer Master for a task, defeat the assigned number of monsters, then return to a Slayer Master. Check the task’s equipment requirements before you travel. If you mean a different game called Training Slayer or Slayers 2, these instructions may not apply.
How an OSRS Slayer task works
A Slayer Master assigns a monster type and a number to defeat. Kills of the assigned monster award Slayer experience. Completing a task can also award Slayer points, which you can spend on rewards and unlocks.

How to start and complete your first task
- Choose a Slayer Master you can use. Masters have different account-progression requirements, so check which one is available to your character.
- Ask the master for a task. Note both the assigned monster and the required quantity.
- Prepare for that monster. Bring a suitable weapon, armor, and supplies, and check whether the monster requires specific equipment or protective gear.
- Travel to the monster and complete the assigned kills. The task’s kills grant Slayer experience.
- Return to a Slayer Master when the task is complete. You can receive Slayer points for completing tasks and spend them on rewards or unlocks.
Which Slayer Master should you choose?
There is no single best master for every player. The right choice depends on your account’s eligibility, combat level, and whether you want to learn the system, earn points, train Slayer experience, or pursue profit. Lower-requirement masters can be a way to learn the task loop; higher-level masters may assign harder or longer tasks.
What “Training Slayer” means here
This guide assumes you mean Slayer in OSRS: a task-based skill run through Slayer Masters. Search results also use similar wording for a separate title called Training Slayer and for the Roblox game Slayers 2, so the phrase alone does not identify the game. An exact-title page describes a RuneScape supplementary minigame and gives a 10,000 GP prerequisite, but those claims are not established by the OSRS guide used for the task-based instructions here.
