Yes. As of 16 October 2026, The Case of the Golden Idol is available on Android through Google Play Pass. Open the Google Play Store, search for the exact title, open the listing published by Playstack, verify that the page displays the Play Pass badge, and tap Install. The badge is the account-specific confirmation that your subscription can cover the game.
If you cannot see the badge, do not install an old third-party APK. Play Pass availability depends on your country, Google account, billing country, payment method, Android version and Play Store version, and Google can change the catalog without notice.

Is The Case of the Golden Idol on Google Play Pass?
The current Android listing is titled The Case of the Golden Idol and identifies Playstack as the publisher. Playstack announced on 16 October 2026 that the game had joined Google Play Pass, allowing subscribers to play it as part of their subscription. The Google Play listing also shows the Play Pass label.
The listing was updated on 12 October 2026. It describes a point-and-click detective puzzle built around investigating murders, examining scenes and connecting clues. Its store copy uses the line “TRY BEFORE YOU BUY – MURDER MYSTERY DETECTIVE PUZZLE.”

An older franchise “where to buy” page still reports that no Google Play product is available. That platform note is stale compared with the current Play Store listing and Playstack’s same-day announcement, so use the live store page and its badge as the practical test for access.
Check these requirements before installing
Play Pass is not available to every Android account automatically. Confirm the following conditions before troubleshooting the listing:
| Requirement | What must be true | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Android version | Android 4.4 or newer | Older devices do not meet Google’s Play Pass requirement. |
| Google Play Store | Version 16.6.25 or newer | An outdated Play Store can prevent Play Pass pages or badges from appearing correctly. |
| Country | Your country must support Play Pass | Catalog membership and offers are country-specific. |
| Google account | A personal Google account eligible for Play Pass | Work and school Google accounts cannot subscribe. |
| Payment method | A valid payment method on the account | Google requires one for Play Pass subscription eligibility. |
| Billing and Play country | The billing country and Google Play country must match | A mismatch can block subscription or catalog access. |
To check Android, open your phone’s Settings and look for the Android version in the device information section. In Google Play, open the account menu and the Play Store settings or About screen to see whether an update is offered. Menu names vary slightly by manufacturer, but the relevant numbers are Android 4.4 and Play Store 16.6.25.
Install the game through Google Play
- Sign in with the right account. Open the Google Play Store and confirm that the account shown in the profile menu is the one with your active Play Pass subscription. If you use several Google accounts, switching accounts changes which catalog and purchase entitlements you see.
- Search the exact title. Search for The Case of the Golden Idol, including “The.” Avoid relying on a similarly named result, an unofficial package or an APK mirror.
- Open the Playstack listing. Check that the publisher is Playstack and that the icon and title match the detective game. The Play Pass badge should be visible on the details page when the title is included for your account.
- Verify the badge before installing. Google’s Play Pass guidance says that an included app shows the Play Pass logo at the top of its details page. If the page instead presents an ordinary purchase price, treat that as a sign that Play Pass access is not being offered to the current account or country.
- Tap Install. With an active subscription and an eligible listing, Google Play downloads the Android version through the normal installation flow. Keep the Play Store open until the download begins, then launch the game from the listing or your app drawer.
- Allow the first launch to finish. The game may take a moment to prepare files after installation. Do not delete Play Store data or switch accounts during that first entitlement check; doing so can make the store re-evaluate access under a different account.
There is no need to obtain a separate installer when the Play Pass badge is present. Installing from Google Play also ensures that updates are delivered through the store and that your entitlement is tied to the Google account holding the subscription.
How to recognize the correct listing
Use all of these checks together:
- The title reads The Case of the Golden Idol.
- The publisher is Playstack.
- The page describes a point-and-click detective puzzle.
- The Play Pass logo appears on the app details page for your account.
- The store page’s icon and screenshots correspond to the Golden Idol investigation game.
At the time of the October 2026 listing snapshot, Google Play showed 10k+ downloads and a 4.4-star rating. Those figures change as people install and review the game, so they are not reliable eligibility checks. The publisher name and Play Pass badge are the useful identifiers.

What Play Pass access gives you
Google describes Play Pass as access to more than 1,000 games and apps without ads or in-app purchases. That description applies to the Play Pass catalog, not necessarily to every app ever published on Google Play. A title can be added or removed, and the available catalog can differ by country.
For The Case of the Golden Idol, the listing says that one purchase unlocks 12 scenarios and six bonus cases. It also names the expansions The Spider of Lanka and The Lemurian Vampire. The listing promises an uninterrupted detective journey with no ads or extra in-app purchases under its stated model.
Play Pass access is a subscription entitlement rather than a permanent ownership transfer. While the game remains in the catalog and your subscription is active, you can install it through Play Pass. If either condition changes, Google may ask you to purchase the paid app separately.
Play Pass versus buying the Android app
There are two practical ways to play on Android. The right choice depends on how long you expect to play and whether you already subscribe.
| Access route | What you receive | Cost behavior | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Play Pass subscription | Access while the title is included and your subscription is active; Play Pass’s ad-free, no-in-app-purchase benefit applies to included apps. | No separate game purchase while covered by the subscription. | Google can change the catalog by country or remove the title. |
| Separate Android purchase | A direct purchase entitlement for the app, subject to the store’s account and platform policies. | One purchase; the listing says one purchase unlocks 12 scenarios and six bonus cases. | You pay separately even if you already subscribe to Play Pass. |
If you already pay for Play Pass and see the badge, installing through the subscription avoids an additional transaction. If you want access that is not tied to the title remaining in the catalog, compare the separate purchase option shown on your own Play Store account.

Why the Play Pass badge may be missing
A missing badge does not automatically mean the game is unavailable on Android. It means Google Play is not currently presenting Play Pass coverage for the account, country or store state you are viewing. Work through these causes in order.

Google says Play Pass availability varies by country. The catalog can therefore look different for two people searching at the same time. Check the country associated with your Google Play profile and compare it with the country used for billing. Do not assume that a title shown in another person’s screenshots is offered in your region.
The billing country and Play country do not match
Play Pass requires matching billing and Play country settings. A travel-related location change, a recently moved payment profile or a payment method registered elsewhere can create a mismatch. Resolve the account-country issue before judging the game’s availability.
You are using a work or school account
Google does not allow work and school Google accounts to subscribe to Play Pass. Switch to the personal Google account that owns the subscription, then search again. The account selector is in the Play Store profile menu.
The Play Store is too old
Play Pass requires Google Play Store 16.6.25 or newer. Update the store, reopen it and repeat the search. If the device cannot run a current Play Store, it may also fail the Android-version requirement.

The subscription is not active on this account
Being signed in to the Play Store is not the same as being subscribed. Confirm that the account shown in the Play Pass area is the account you used to subscribe. If the subscription ended, the title may appear as an ordinary paid app rather than a Play Pass app.
The catalog changed
Google can add or remove apps and can vary offers by country. A badge that appeared earlier may disappear after a catalog change. In that situation, the absence is not fixed by reinstalling: the account is seeing the current catalog state.
You opened a different result
Search results can contain similarly named games or pages from different publishers. Recheck the exact title, Playstack as publisher and the game’s detective-puzzle description before deciding that Play Pass is missing.
The store has not refreshed
Close and reopen Google Play, make sure the correct account is selected, and search again from the main store rather than an old notification or cached shortcut. If the badge still does not appear, rely on the account, country and version checks above instead of installing from an unofficial source.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat happens if Play Pass ends or the game leaves
Google says that when a Play Pass subscription ends, installed apps and their data remain on the device. Paid content can then request a separate purchase, and advertising or in-app purchases can return where the app supports them.

Google also says that if a paid app leaves Play Pass, it may remain usable for some time before the subscriber must buy it separately. The exact grace period is not stated for this game, so do not treat continued launching as proof of permanent ownership. Save your progress normally, but expect an entitlement prompt if coverage ends.
When access changes, open the game’s current Play Store page while signed in to the same account. The page will show whether Play Pass still covers it or whether a separate purchase is required.
Content, rating and device considerations
The listing carries a Teen content rating and identifies violence and blood. That rating is useful when deciding whether the game is appropriate for a shared family device.
Recommended Free Tools
The game is designed as a point-and-click investigation: you inspect scenes, identify people and objects, and use evidence to solve each case. The store listing’s scope is 12 scenarios plus six bonus cases, with the Spider of Lanka and Lemurian Vampire expansions named on the page.
Play Pass eligibility is separate from performance. Meeting Android 4.4 and the Play Store requirement makes the device eligible for the service; it does not guarantee identical loading speed or screen behavior on every handset. Keep enough free storage for the installation and updates, and use the latest Play Store version your device supports.
Quick installation checklist
- Use a personal Google account with an active Play Pass subscription.
- Confirm Android 4.4 or newer.
- Confirm Google Play Store 16.6.25 or newer.
- Use a supported Play Pass country.
- Ensure your billing country matches your Google Play country.
- Keep a valid payment method on the account.
- Search for The Case of the Golden Idol.
- Verify Playstack as publisher and the Play Pass badge.
- Tap Install from Google Play, not an APK mirror.
The decisive test is simple: on the Playstack listing, the Play Pass logo appears for the account that will install the game. If it does, install normally. If it does not, check account, country, payment and version eligibility before considering a separate purchase.
