Palworld 1.0 is the full release of Pocketpair’s open-world survival and creature-collection game. Install the current build on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5 or Mac, create or load a world, then follow the core loop: gather materials, craft equipment, build a base, capture Pals, assign them to combat and work, and explore for resources and fast-travel access.
Playing with friends? Godlike.Host runs hosted Palworld servers from 10 data-center locations, with free DDoS protection.
Returning players should treat the update as a new progression chapter. Secure an existing base, reassess teams after the stat and ability rebalance, then prioritize Sunreach, the World Tree, Ancient Ruins, Watchtowers, the seven new islands and new settlements before testing Awakening and Mutation.

What Palworld 1.0 changes
Pocketpair announced that Palworld had left early access with the line, “Pal Tamers, the time has come. Today, Palworld exits early access. Palworld 1.0 is here!” The Steam store records July 9, 2026 as the release date, while the 1.0 release changelog is dated July 10, 2026. Those dates refer to the same launch window, so use the current platform build rather than an older early-access installation.
Palworld remains an open-world survival, crafting, building and creature-collection game. Its listed modes are single-player, online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer. Version 1.0 expands the map, adds major progression systems, rebalances existing Pals, and overhauls base building, multiplayer and graphics rather than simply adding a small side area.

| 1.0 change | What it means while playing |
|---|---|
| 72 new Pals | The roster reaches 287 total Pals, so pre-1.0 team rankings are not a reliable guide to every role. |
| Awakening and Mutation | New progression systems give you additional ways to experiment with Pal development after you have a stable team. |
| Rebalanced Pal statistics and abilities | Review familiar Pals instead of assuming their previous combat or work performance is unchanged. |
| New story and exploration locations | Sunreach and the World Tree form the central 1.0 destination, with ruins, islands, settlements and sea bases adding optional routes. |
| World and system overhauls | Base building, multiplayer and graphics receive broader changes, so old building plans and co-op routines may need adjustment. |
Choose a platform and prepare your world
Install the current build
Update before creating a world or joining a friend. A version mismatch can prevent a player from connecting or leave one person without content introduced by 1.0. The supported release information covers Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5 and Mac, and Pocketpair describes cross-play as available across all currently released platforms.
Decide whether to start fresh or load a save
A new world lets you experience the intended survival curve from its opening lessons. A returning save preserves your established base, equipment and Pal collection, making it the faster way to reach the new map and progression systems. Neither choice is mandatory: use a fresh world to relearn the systems, or load an established world when your priority is seeing 1.0 content quickly.

For online co-op, decide whose world everyone will use. The host’s world is the shared setting for the session, so agree on the host before people invest time in separate starts. Confirm that every player is on the current build, knows the host, and understands the early division of base, exploration and Pal duties.
New-player route: your first hours
1. Create a world and learn the survival loop
Begin by creating a world in the mode you want to play. Your immediate objectives are practical: collect materials, craft basic tools and equipment, and establish enough shelter and storage to operate safely. Do not rush toward the most dangerous region before you can replace essential equipment and recover from a failed expedition.
The game’s central loop is deliberately connected. Gathering supplies enables crafting; crafting makes exploration safer; exploration exposes new resources and Pals; captured Pals improve both combat and base work; and a stronger base supports longer trips. Treat each activity as preparation for the next rather than as a separate checklist.
2. Establish a safe first base
Build your first base in a position you can defend and reach regularly. Keep essential crafting and storage organized, and leave enough room to expand as your working team grows. A small, reliable base is more valuable than a large build that you cannot maintain. Version 1.0 overhauls base building, so returning players should also inspect how existing layouts behave before committing to a major rebuild.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

3. Capture a working team
Capture several Pals instead of relying on one favorite. Use them for the two roles the game emphasizes: combat during travel and work around the base. A mixed team gives you a safer answer to unfamiliar areas and reduces the chance that one defeat stops all progress. Because 1.0 changes Pal statistics and abilities, evaluate what each Pal actually contributes instead of choosing only by pre-release reputation.
4. Explore for knowledge, resources and travel access
Once the base and team are stable, explore outward. Exploration is not only about fighting. It reveals resource routes, candidate base locations, unfamiliar Pals and fast-travel access. Mark useful routes mentally or through the game’s map tools, and return to the base when your carrying capacity, health or equipment condition makes another encounter risky.
5. Add co-op after the opening is understood
Multiplayer is easier when everyone knows the basic loop. Invite companions after the host has a functioning base and the group has agreed who gathers, who builds, who captures and who scouts. These roles can change, but an early division prevents four players from consuming the same materials while nobody maintains the base.
Returning-player route: what to do first
Secure the existing base
Load your save and make the base your first checkpoint. Confirm that essential crafting, storage and Pal work are functioning, then inspect the new base-building behavior before expanding. This creates a stable fallback while you investigate unfamiliar locations.
Reassess every important Pal
Version 1.0 rebalances Pal statistics and abilities and adds 72 Pals, bringing the total roster to 287. Recheck combat and work assignments rather than assuming an old ranking still applies. Keep candidates that fit your preferred role, but test alternatives when a new Pal offers a better match for the way you play.
Open the new map objectives
Make the 1.0 destinations your next broad objective. Sunreach and the World Tree are the clearest story-facing targets; Watchtowers improve navigation; Ancient Ruins provide exploration challenges and rewards; the seven small islands and new settlements supply additional Pals, missions and routes. You do not have to visit them in a single session, but postponing all new content means continuing to play the pre-1.0 game inside a 1.0 save.

Experiment only after you have a stable team
Awakening and Mutation are designed for experimentation, but a dependable team gives you room to test without weakening every role at once. Choose a Pal whose combat or work function you understand, try one new progression option, and compare the result in the activity you care about. Keep your proven team available while learning what the new systems change.
Where to go in the 1.0 world
The new locations serve different purposes. Use the following route as a decision guide rather than a strict level order; the available evidence identifies their functions, but it does not establish a universal difficulty sequence.
| Location | Primary value | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Sunreach | New floating island and a major 1.0 story area | Make it a headline destination after your base and team are secure, especially if you want to follow the new story. |
| The World Tree | Heart of the 1.0 story | Treat it as a central long-term objective rather than a casual resource stop. |
| Ancient Ruins | Exploration, minigames and item rewards such as schematics | Visit when you want activities beyond ordinary gathering and a chance to obtain new building or crafting information. |
| Watchtowers | Reveal the surrounding map and function as fast-travel points | Prioritize towers that connect your base to new regions or make repeated trips shorter. |
| Seven new small islands | Volcano, desert and ruins biomes with location-specific Pals | Use them to expand your collection and learn how each biome changes your preparation needs. |
| New settlements | Settlements in the Bamboo Groves, Snowy Mountains, Sakurajima and Sunreach with NPCs and sub-missions | Visit when you want side objectives, local characters and another reason to return to established regions. |
| Enemy bases at sea | New combat locations away from ordinary land routes | Approach as a planned expedition with a suitable team and a clear retreat route. |
| Reworked Wildlife Sanctuaries | Updated sanctuary activity and collection opportunities | Revisit sanctuaries even if you explored them before 1.0; their role and available encounters may differ. |
Sunreach and the World Tree
Sunreach is a new floating island, while the World Tree is described as the heart of the 1.0 story. Together they provide the strongest reason for a returning player to move beyond familiar routes. Bring a team that can handle travel and combat, keep your base as a fallback, and use newly opened fast-travel points to avoid repeating every leg of the journey.
Ancient Ruins
Ancient Ruins combine exploration with minigames and can reward items including schematics. They are therefore more than a combat checkpoint: enter when you want a self-contained activity that may improve what you can craft or build. Because the reward is tied to exploration, search the site and complete its activities instead of leaving after the first encounter.
Watchtowers
Watchtowers reveal the surrounding map and act as fast-travel points. Their value compounds over time. A tower near a new island, settlement or story route can save repeated travel, so activating towers is useful even when you are not ready to complete every nearby objective.
The seven small islands
The seven islands span volcano, desert and ruins biomes and contain location-specific Pals. Their different environments make them useful collection destinations and natural tests of preparation. Visit one island at a time, note which supplies and team roles it demands, and return to the base before starting another long expedition.

- Visit the Hall of Justice, the Batcave, and the Justice League Watchtower to access shops, trophy rooms, and the hero and vehicle customizers.
Settlements and sea bases
New settlements appear in the Bamboo Groves, Snowy Mountains, Sakurajima and Sunreach. NPCs and sub-missions give these areas purposes beyond resource collection, so speak with characters when you arrive rather than treating settlements as scenery. Enemy bases at sea add another expedition type; plan the approach and retreat before committing your team.
Wildlife Sanctuaries
The Wildlife Sanctuary system is reworked for 1.0. If you remember sanctuary routes from early access, revisit them instead of assuming your old routine remains optimal. The update’s broader Pal roster means sanctuary trips can also support collection goals that did not exist before the roster reached 287.
Awakening and Mutation: how to approach the new progression
Awakening and Mutation are named 1.0 progression systems, but the release information does not establish a universal build, fixed cost or single best combination. Approach them as systems to test rather than a checklist with one correct answer.

Start with a Pal whose combat or work role you already understand, so you can recognize what changes.
- Record the purpose of the test. Decide whether you want better combat performance, a different ability profile or a stronger work contribution.
- Change one direction at a time. Testing a single candidate makes it easier to identify which result came from Awakening or Mutation.
- Use the candidate in its intended activity. A change that looks attractive in a menu is only useful if it helps the combat, travel or base task you actually perform.
- Keep a proven backup. Do not rebuild your entire roster before you know how the new system fits your play style.
The same caution applies to old favorites. A rebalance can make a familiar Pal more or less suitable for a role without making it universally better or worse. Judge the result against your own team, base and route.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Base-building priorities in 1.0
Base building is overhauled in the full release, so use a functional layout before attempting an elaborate one. Keep storage and crafting close enough that routine work does not become a long walk, reserve space for additional Pal assignments, and leave a clear path for future expansion. The best early base is the one that supports gathering, crafting and recovery while you are away exploring.
For a returning save, walk through every important station and work area after loading. Check that Pals can still perform their intended tasks and that the layout remains practical. If a legacy arrangement feels cramped or inefficient, improve only the section that blocks current progression; a complete rebuild is optional, not a requirement for seeing 1.0 content.

How multiplayer and cross-play work
Palworld supports single-player, online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer. Pocketpair’s cross-play announcement covers Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5 and Mac, stating that cross-play is available across all currently released platforms.

- Update every platform. Have all players install the current Palworld build before attempting to connect.
- Select the host. Decide whose world will be the shared home and make sure that person can start the session.
- Confirm platform compatibility. Cross-play is listed across the released platforms, but platform-specific connection rules can change.
- Join the host’s world. Use the game’s current multiplayer flow and follow the prompts shown on each platform.
- Assign early responsibilities. Decide who gathers, builds, captures Pals, maintains the base and scouts new areas.
- Coordinate before major expeditions. Agree on the destination, the team each player will bring and the point at which the group returns.
If a connection fails, first check that everyone is fully updated and that the host is using the intended world. Then consult the current in-game or platform documentation, because server and platform rules can change independently of the game’s general cross-play support.
Co-op habits that prevent lost time
- Keep one shared base plan instead of placing separate work areas without discussing storage and Pal roles.
- Tell the group when you are taking a Pal or resource for a long expedition so another player does not plan around it.
- Use Watchtowers and fast-travel points to create common meeting routes.
- Have the host identify the next objective before everyone disperses; this keeps progress aligned in a shared world.
A practical 1.0 progression plan
- Stabilize survival. Gather materials, craft essential equipment and establish a safe base.
- Build a flexible Pal roster. Capture enough Pals for combat and work, then review their roles after the 1.0 rebalance.
- Open travel options. Explore nearby routes and activate Watchtowers that improve access to new regions.
- Choose a major destination. Follow the Sunreach and World Tree story path, or use Ancient Ruins and the new islands for exploration and collection.
- Visit settlements. Speak with NPCs and take sub-missions in the Bamboo Groves, Snowy Mountains, Sakurajima and Sunreach.
- Test optional systems. Experiment with Awakening and Mutation on selected candidates while keeping a reliable team available.
- Expand outward. Revisit Wildlife Sanctuaries, investigate sea enemy bases and complete the locations that match your preferred combat, collection or building goals.
This order is guidance, not a hidden level requirement. The update supports several play styles: a story-first route through Sunreach and the World Tree, an exploration route through ruins and islands, a collection route focused on the expanded Pal roster, or a co-op route organized around a shared base.
Common problems and sensible fixes
You cannot join a friend’s world
Confirm that every player has updated, that the host is using the intended world, and that each person is following the current platform’s multiplayer prompts. If the failure persists, check the platform’s current networking guidance because cross-play implementation details can change.
Your old team feels different
That is expected after the 1.0 statistics and ability rebalance. Compare each Pal by the role you actually need, then test alternatives from the 72 new additions instead of forcing the old ranking to remain valid.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
You cannot find the new content
Verify that the installation completed the 1.0 update and that you are playing the current build. Then use Watchtowers to reveal surrounding map areas and look for routes toward Sunreach, the World Tree, Ancient Ruins, the seven islands and the new settlements.
Your base no longer works as expected
Inspect crafting, storage and Pal work areas after loading the save. Because base building is overhauled, adjust the specific blocked or inefficient section first. Keep a functioning fallback before beginning a large redesign.
You are unsure what to do next
Pick one of three clear goals: advance the 1.0 story at Sunreach and the World Tree, improve travel and discovery through Watchtowers and Ancient Ruins, or expand your Pal roster through the new islands and reworked sanctuaries. Once that goal is complete, return to the base and choose the next route.
