Before a new Zenless Zone Zero version, check what is changing and what you already have—not what you hope the next update will require. Take stock of your resources, review claimable rewards and deadlines, choose a specific near-term goal, and hold scarce or goal-specific items until HoYoverse confirms the next version’s details.
Start by checking the live version notice
Update schedules and event windows are time-sensitive, so use the current in-game notices as your source of truth before spending or planning around a deadline. HoYoverse’s Version 3.2 announcement lists the version’s end as October 21, 2026, at 06:00 UTC+8; that is a posted date, not a guarantee that every schedule will remain unchanged. The same announcement lists 10 Encrypted Master Tapes as a Version 3.2 login-event reward. Confirm the event is still live and check its claim conditions in game before counting those tapes toward a pull plan.
Take stock before spending Battery Charge
Version 3.0 added a Compendium display for Battery Charge, Backup Battery Charge, and Ether Batteries. Open that display and record your balances before deciding whether to spend stamina-related resources now or keep them for a known goal. Make the goal concrete: for example, identify one currently available agent or W-Engine upgrade, then check which materials it needs and how much progress you can make with resources you already have. If you do not have a confirmed target, keeping flexible resources uncommitted preserves more options than farming or converting them based on a guess.
Check rewards and deadlines before extra farming
Version 2.6 introduced a Reward Progress page that tracks Polychrome rewards across gameplay modes and mission entries in named Hollow Zero modes. Review the page before doing additional runs: it can help you spot accessible rewards you have not claimed or completed. A listing does not by itself establish that its source is still available, so check any in-game deadline or eligibility condition. Use Ether Batteries for a known convenience, not by default
Version 2.5’s update details say players can craft Ether Batteries using Prepaid Power Cards and Battery Charge, then use Ether Batteries to instantly clear eligible challenges for their corresponding upgrade materials and Drive Disc rewards. That makes conversion a convenience tradeoff: it can save time on an eligible activity, but it also uses stored resources that could otherwise go toward a different goal. Convert only when the activity and reward fit what you have decided to work on; the update details do not establish a universally optimal conversion rule. Do not pre-farm requirements that are not confirmed
The next version’s banners, event schedule, upgrade materials, and requirements are not established by the official details cited here. Until HoYoverse publishes them, avoid spending scarce, goal-specific items on assumptions about what is coming. Once the next-version notice is available, compare its confirmed requirements and deadlines with your goal before committing resources.

HoYoverse’s Version 3.1 pre-download notice advised players to make sure they had sufficient free space and use Wi-Fi. Its estimates—11 GB for PC, 7 GB for mobile, 25 GB for PS5/PS5 Pro, and 26 GB for Xbox Series X|S—were specific to that version’s pre-download, not estimates for the next update.
