Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteVisiting an unofficial PS5 store does not, by itself, prove that your PlayStation Network account was compromised. The urgent response depends on what you did there: entering a PSN password, scanning a sign-in QR code, authorizing an app, installing software, or seeing an unfamiliar sign-in, account change, or purchase each creates a different level of concern.
If you supplied PSN details, used an untrusted QR sign-in, approved an unfamiliar app, or see suspicious activity, secure the email account tied to PSN, change your PSN sign-in method, add a passkey or 2-step verification, review authorized apps and transactions, and contact PlayStation Support if you cannot regain control. The steps below use PlayStation’s current US support guidance; menus and legal terms can differ in other regions.

First, identify what happened
Do not treat every unofficial storefront as the same incident. Write down what you entered, scanned, installed, or approved before changing settings. That determines which controls matter most.
| What happened | What it establishes | First response |
|---|---|---|
| You entered a PSN email address and password on the site | An untrusted party may have the credentials you used | Change the PSN sign-in method and the password for the recovery email immediately |
| You scanned a QR code or followed a sign-in prompt you could not verify | The prompt may have been designed to obtain authorization or sign-in information | Change the PSN sign-in method and inspect account activity |
| You authorized a third-party app | The app may retain access until it is unlinked | Review and unlink unfamiliar authorized apps |
| You only browsed pages and entered no credentials | Browsing alone is not evidence that PSN was compromised | Check alerts, authorized apps, and purchases for anything you do not recognize |
| You see an unfamiliar sign-in, email change, purchase, or subscription | There is an account event requiring investigation | Secure the account, remove payment methods if necessary, and contact PlayStation Support if you cannot resolve it |
PlayStation specifically warns against sharing account information with untrusted sites and QR codes. Its guidance does not say that every visit to an unofficial store automatically compromises an account. Treat the store as untrusted until you can verify what information, if any, left your control.

Secure the recovery email before it is used against you
The email address associated with PSN is a recovery channel. If someone can read that mailbox, they may be able to approve password resets or hide notification messages even after you change the console password.
- Sign in to the email provider directly. Type the provider’s address yourself or use a known bookmark rather than a link in a suspicious message.
- Change the email password. Use a long, unique password that you have never used for PSN or another service.
- Enable the email provider’s strongest available sign-in protection. An authenticator-based check or passkey is preferable where supported.
- Review recent sign-ins, forwarding rules, recovery addresses, and phone numbers. Remove anything you did not add. A malicious forwarding rule can copy future PlayStation recovery messages.
- Return to PSN only after the mailbox is secured. This prevents an attacker who still controls the mailbox from undoing your PSN changes.
PlayStation’s account-security guidance explains that security-setting changes apply across your devices and consoles. If an unrecognized email says that your PSN account details changed, change the email password and follow the compromised-account recovery guidance rather than replying to the message.
Change the PSN sign-in method
Change the credential as soon as you believe it was exposed. On a PS5, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Security. You can also use PlayStation Account Management in a browser. Choose a unique password, or set up a passkey if your devices and recovery arrangements support it. PlayStation’s step-by-step security settings are documented at How to change your security settings on PlayStation.
Do not reuse the password from the unofficial store, your email account, or another gaming service. If the same password was used elsewhere, change it on those services as well. A password change is also the practical way to sign out devices you cannot inspect; PlayStation says changing the password signs the account out of inaccessible consoles.
Choose a second sign-in check that you can recover
PlayStation supports passkeys and 2-step verification (2SV). Select the option that fits the devices you actually control and the recovery information you can protect.
| Option | How you sign in | What to prepare | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Passkey | Approve with a device unlock method such as a fingerprint, face check, or device PIN, depending on your device | A supported device and a reliable recovery path for replacing or restoring it | PlayStation’s checkout password requirement is not compatible with an account that has passkeys set up |
| Password plus 2-step verification | Enter the password, then a code delivered by SMS or generated by an authenticator app | Access to the phone or authenticator and securely stored backup codes | Losing the second-factor device without backup codes can complicate recovery |
For 2SV, follow PlayStation’s setup instructions at How to set up 2-step verification on PlayStation. Save every backup code in a secure location that is separate from the phone running your authenticator. Do not store a backup code in a public note, an unprotected screenshot, or the same mailbox you are trying to secure.

A passkey can reduce exposure to a stolen password, while password-plus-2SV gives you a code-based fallback familiar to many players. Neither option helps if another person controls your email, phone, authenticator, or device unlock. Verify your recovery path before signing out of the device that currently works.
Remove unfamiliar authorized apps
A third-party app can retain authorization even after you change a password. On PS5, open Settings > Users and Accounts > Authorized Apps. Compare every entry with apps you deliberately connected. Unlink anything unfamiliar, obsolete, or connected while you were using the unofficial store. PlayStation’s instructions are at How to manage authorized apps.
Do not assume an app is safe because its name resembles a familiar service. Check when you connected it, whether you recognize its purpose, and whether the authorization occurred during the store visit. If you cannot identify an entry, unlink it first; you can reconnect a legitimate service later through its official sign-in flow.
Check purchases, subscriptions, and payment methods
Open your PlayStation Store transaction history and inspect recent purchases, refunds, wallet activity, and subscriptions. Match each transaction with your console, family members, and any known recurring subscription. PlayStation’s compromised-account guidance covers unauthorized charges and recovery at Phished (compromised) accounts and unauthorized charges.
- If every transaction is familiar: keep monitoring notifications while you finish the security changes.
- If a charge is unfamiliar: preserve the transaction details, date, amount, and account email; remove stored payment methods if you are concerned about further purchases; then contact PlayStation Support through the recovery path.
- If a subscription is unfamiliar: cancel or manage it in the account before the next renewal and investigate how it was added.
- If a family member may have made the purchase: confirm that possibility before filing a fraud claim, but do not ignore a transaction you cannot explain.
PlayStation recommends requiring a password at checkout to help prevent unwanted purchases. That setting is available only where applicable because it is not compatible with an account that has passkeys enabled.
Sign out devices you cannot control
If you used PSN on a borrowed, shared, public, or sold device, change the password even if you think you logged out. A password change is the remote sign-out measure for devices you cannot access.

PlayStation also provides an all-console deactivation tool. In Account Management, go to Device Management > PlayStation Consoles > Deactivate All Devices. This action deactivates every console linked to the account, not one selected console, and PlayStation limits it to once every six months. Use it when you cannot identify where the account is active or when an old console remains associated with you. The official procedure is described in How to deactivate a PlayStation console.
Because the action affects all consoles, plan to sign back in and reactivate the console you still own after the account is secure. Do not use the tool as a routine response to merely browsing a site when there is no suspicious activity.
What to do if you only browsed the store
If you did not enter credentials, scan a sign-in QR code, authorize an app, install software, or observe suspicious activity, the available PlayStation guidance does not support claiming that your PSN account was compromised solely because you visited a store. That is a cautious conclusion, not a guarantee that the site itself was safe.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Run a focused check instead of changing every account you own:
- Look for unexpected PlayStation sign-in or account-change emails.
- Review authorized apps for entries you do not recognize.
- Inspect transaction history and subscriptions for unfamiliar activity.
- Confirm that your recovery email and phone details are unchanged.
- Keep 2SV or a passkey enabled if you already use one.
If any check produces an unexplained result, follow the credential-exposure procedure in this article. If all checks are clean, continue normal account hygiene and avoid entering PSN details into the unofficial store in the future.
Recognize account-takeover signs
Contact PlayStation Support promptly if you cannot change the sign-in method, cannot access the account, or see changes you did not make. Examples include a replacement email address, a password-reset notice you did not request, a new authorized app, an unexplained purchase, or repeated sign-in alerts after you changed the password.

Use the compromised-account instructions at PlayStation’s account-recovery page. Have your sign-in ID, relevant emails, transaction information, and approximate dates ready. Do not send your password or one-time codes to a person claiming to be support through an unofficial channel.

Using an unofficial store may involve software, hardware, or services that PlayStation does not authorize. The consequences depend on what was installed or used, what activity occurred, and the terms that apply in your region. Do not assume that a particular account will be suspended merely because you visited a site; the available terms do not establish that outcome for an unspecified store or incident.
For US accounts, the PlayStation Terms of Service address protecting account credentials and restrictions related to unauthorized conduct. They state:
“All users should safeguard their Account sign-in ID, password, passkey, or other authenticating information and take steps to prevent access to your Account by other persons on any shared devices.”

The US PlayStation 5 System Software License Agreement also addresses unauthorized software, hardware, and circumvention. Read the terms for your own country before drawing conclusions about enforcement, account restrictions, or permitted console modifications. Account security and policy compliance are separate questions: secure your credentials first, then determine what software or hardware was used.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.

Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Inspect the PS5 itself after installing anything
If the unofficial store led you to install software, a system modification, or an unknown application, stop using that installation until you understand what it changed. Disconnect the console from services you do not recognize, remove unknown user profiles or applications where the system permits, and avoid entering the newly changed PSN credentials on a device you suspect is modified.
The official account guidance does not establish that a particular unofficial store installed malware or altered a PS5. It also does not provide a universal cleanup procedure for every modification. For that reason, do not claim that a factory reset, firmware reinstall, or other destructive step is always required. Preserve access to your account and consult official PlayStation support for console-specific symptoms before erasing data.
A practical order of operations
When several warning signs appear at once, use this order so one compromised channel cannot undo the next:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Secure the recovery email with a new unique password and review its recovery and forwarding settings.
- Change the PSN sign-in method from PS5 Security settings or Account Management.
- Add a passkey or 2SV, then store recovery information safely.
- Change passwords on other services where the exposed PSN password was reused.
- Unlink unfamiliar authorized apps from the PS5 Authorized Apps screen.
- Review transactions and subscriptions; remove payment methods if unexplained purchases are possible.
- Deactivate all consoles only when you need to cut off consoles you cannot identify, remembering the six-month limit.
- Contact PlayStation Support if access, account details, or charges remain unresolved.
After completing the sequence, monitor your email and transaction history for new alerts. A clean review does not prove that an unfamiliar store is trustworthy; it shows only that you have not found an account event requiring escalation.
Keep the account safer going forward
- Use PSN sign-in only through the console’s settings, PlayStation Account Management, or an official PlayStation page you navigated to yourself.
- Never type a password into a page promising free currency, discounted entitlements, or urgent account verification unless you have independently verified the domain and purpose.
- Do not scan QR codes presented by an untrusted store or message. A QR code can lead to a sign-in or authorization flow without looking like a conventional password form.
- Use a unique PSN credential and keep the recovery email protected by a different credential.
- Keep 2SV backup codes offline or in a protected password manager, and update them when your security setup changes.
- Review authorized apps and transaction history periodically, especially after using a new service.
- On shared devices, sign out and avoid saving passwords in a browser that other people can open.
The safest interpretation of an unofficial-store incident is specific rather than absolute: browsing is not proof of compromise, while credential entry, QR-code sign-in, app authorization, or unexplained account activity warrants immediate protective action.
