In Act 2, reach the Architect’s Melody puzzle by entering Cogwork Core from Choral Chambers after defeating the Cogwork Dancers, then following the lower route down and left before looping upward on the right. At the summit, align the four musical segments on each of the four pillars into a continuous line. When all four pillars sink, stand on the central plate and play the Needolin to learn Architect’s Melody.
Before you enter Cogwork Core
Defeat the Cogwork Dancers in Choral Chambers and inspect the sealed lift they guarded; the quest guide identifies this as the trigger for Architect’s Melody. Clawline is a practical prerequisite for a reliable route: one walkthrough calls it required for the upper path, while another describes it as strongly recommended. Double jump is described as optional.
If you need to prepare your map and Silk, CloudsPress describes returning to the Dancers’ arena, dropping through either opening into the white-lit building, rotating the ceiling wheel to create a bench, and using the plate above to unlock the Cogwork Core map. There is no bench in the puzzle room, so refill Silk at the previous bench before setting out.
How to reach the puzzle summit
- Enter Cogwork Core from Choral Chambers after the Dancers are defeated.
- From the lower central area, go down and left through the mechanical hazards. Do not try to climb straight up above the Dancers; the puzzle route loops back upward on the right.
- Work through the sawblades, retracting spikes, grapple rings, and rotating spike-cogs. Move through hazards during safe windows, release grapples before momentum carries you past a landing, and pogo on the upper arcs of rotating cogs.
- Open the shortcut when you reach the upper area above the Dancers. Continue past the moving-hook section and Cogwork enemies, then take the upper-left ceiling exit to reach the puzzle chamber.
The route information here is for Act 2. A detailed walkthrough says Cogwork Core changes substantially in Act 3, so do not assume this path matches that act.

How to solve the four pillars
Each of the four pillars has four rotating musical-sheet segments, controlled by nearby levers. Solve each pillar independently: its notation must form a continuous musical line from top to bottom, but the four pillars do not need to match one another. A movable spotlight can make staff lines and joins easier to see. A pillar sinks into the floor when solved.
Check the joins, not just the overall shape
Work on one pillar at a time and inspect each boundary between segments. Staff lines should continue across the join, note stems should connect, and beams should not stop in empty space. One useful method is to start with the bottom segment and compare possible rotations with the segment above. If the bottom segment cannot be made to join after cycling through its positions, check whether the segment above is misaligned.

- Journey to all-new lands, discover new powers, battle vast hordes of bugs and beasts and uncover secrets tied to your nature and your past.
Keep access to the levers
Solving a pillar can remove platforms, potentially cutting off routes between controls. The walkthrough recommends leaving pillars partly unfinished until you can still reach the relevant levers, then completing them when the path is safe. The room has no bench, which is why restoring Silk before entering matters.
Claim Architect’s Melody
Once all four pillars have descended, stand on the central plate, wait for the contextual Needolin prompt, and play the instrument. Lowering the pillars alone does not teach the melody; the Needolin interaction completes the puzzle reward.

Architect’s Melody is one of the Threefold melodies. It is not sufficient by itself to open the final route: Conductor’s Melody and Vaultkeeper’s Melody are also needed to progress toward the Cradle/Citadel crest.
Common route and puzzle mistakes
- Trying to climb directly above the Dancers instead of going down and left, then looping upward on the right.
- Grappling too long or crossing retracting spikes while they are extended.
- Trying to make every pillar show the same pattern instead of solving each pillar’s own continuous notation.
- Leaving after the pillars sink without standing on the central plate and playing the Needolin.
- Using the Act 2 route as though it were unchanged in Act 3.
Version and source context
The detailed route walkthrough lists version 1.0.30000 and identifies its directions as Act 2 instructions. Official patch notes were not established for that version, so the version label should not be taken as confirmation that the route is unchanged in later updates. The route and puzzle details come from secondary walkthroughs: CloudsPress’ Cogwork Core guide (August 8, 2026) and the Silksong Wiki Architect’s Melody guide (updated August 9, 2026).
