In Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, use Border blocks to mark a limit around your playable area. Enable cheats in the world, enter /give @p border_block, then place the blocks to define the boundary. This is a manually placed block boundary, not a configurable Java-style world-border command.
Get Border blocks in Bedrock Edition
- Open the world where you want to set a boundary and make sure cheats are enabled. Minecraft’s Old Worlds Types in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition – FAQ gives this command for obtaining Border blocks:
/give @p border_block. - Enter the command in chat. The FAQ documents this method for getting the blocks; the ability to run it may depend on your permissions in that world or server.
- Place the Border blocks around the area you want to limit. The FAQ confirms they can be used to limit a world, but does not specify a layout or give a detailed placement tutorial, so the boundary must be built in-game to suit your map.
What this method does—and does not do
Border blocks create a physical, manually placed boundary. They are different from a configurable border controlled by a command. A Minecraft Feedback community post dated March 18, 2025 said Bedrock lacked Java’s /worldborder command at that time; that dated community post is not a current official command reference.

Other ways to limit a Bedrock world
| Approach | What it offers | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Border blocks | In-game blocks you can place to limit the playable area; Minecraft’s FAQ documents /give @p border_block after enabling cheats. |
The documented command requires cheats, and the boundary is placed manually. |
| Existing old world | A legacy finite world measuring 256 × 256 blocks horizontally, with a maximum height of 128 blocks, according to Minecraft’s FAQ. | New old limited worlds could no longer be created after the 1.18 release. Existing ones continue to work and can be converted to infinite worlds. |
If you already have an old-type world, its finite dimensions may suit a project without building a Border-block perimeter. It is not an option for creating a new limited world.
Add-ons
Bedrock add-ons can be activated in new or existing single-player worlds and in Realms through Resource Packs or Behavior Packs settings, as described in Minecraft Help. The available guidance does not verify a particular add-on that creates a world boundary, so check the add-on’s stated features and platform support before relying on it.
