You cannot recover a Pokémon after transferring it to Professor Willow in Pokémon GO. Niantic’s Pokémon GO Help Center states: “you can’t get Pokémon back after you’ve transferred them.” The game does not document an undo button, recovery window, or restoration process for a completed transfer.
You can still contact Niantic through the in-app Help Center to report what happened or ask about your account. However, Niantic’s support instructions explain how to make contact; they do not promise that support can restore a transferred Pokémon.

The direct answer: a completed transfer is irreversible
When you use the transfer command to send a Pokémon to Professor Willow, Pokémon GO treats that action as final. The official “Transferring Pokémon” guidance warns players that they cannot get the Pokémon back afterward. That applies whether the transfer was intentional, caused by a mistaken tap, or involved a Pokémon you later realized you wanted to keep.

Once the transfer has completed, assume the Pokémon is no longer available in that Pokémon GO account.

What you receive from the transfer
Transferring is designed to free Pokémon storage and award Candy. Candy is the game reward for the action; it is not a receipt that can be exchanged for the Pokémon later. The transfer article’s discussion of Candy and storage explains the purpose of the feature, not a recovery mechanism.
What the transfer restrictions mean
Pokémon GO places protections and restrictions around which Pokémon can be transferred. Those safeguards can prevent some transfers or require additional confirmation, but they do not create a way to reverse a transfer that has already gone through. A restriction that blocked one Pokémon is different from restoration of another Pokémon you already sent away.
What to do if the transfer was a mistake
If the Pokémon is important to you, the only official next step is to contact Niantic and describe the incident. Treat this as a support inquiry, not as a documented recovery service. The support material does not state that agents can restore Pokémon lost through transfer.

- Open Pokémon GO and remain on the Map View.
- Tap the Main Menu button.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Help in the upper-right corner to open the Pokémon GO Help Center.
- Use the contact control provided in the Help Center to send your request.
Give support a precise description: your Trainer name, approximately when the transfer occurred, the Pokémon’s species and any identifying details you remember, and that the transfer was accidental. Keep the wording factual. Do not claim that the Help Center promises a restoration, because Niantic’s published instructions do not make that promise.
What a support request can and cannot establish
- It can: report the mistake and ask Niantic whether anything can be done for your account.
- It cannot guarantee: a rollback, a replacement Pokémon, or a return of the transferred Pokémon.
- It does not change the published rule: Niantic’s transfer guidance says Pokémon cannot be recovered after transfer.
If support replies that the transfer cannot be reversed, there is no additional in-game recovery step described by the cited guidance. Avoid repeatedly submitting the same request or relying on unofficial claims that a special code or payment can restore the Pokémon.
Pokémon HOME is not a way back to Pokémon GO
Pokémon HOME can make the situation confusing because it is another destination for Pokémon. It is not, however, a recovery route for a Pokémon transferred to Professor Willow.

Niantic’s Pokémon HOME instructions describe the connection in one direction: Pokémon sent from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME cannot return to Pokémon GO. That means HOME cannot retrieve a Pokémon that was already transferred away inside GO, and it cannot send a HOME Pokémon back into GO as a substitute for an accidental transfer.

Do not mistake transfer safeguards for an undo feature
Players sometimes remember that Pokémon GO asks for confirmation or prevents certain Pokémon from being transferred. Those safeguards are useful before the action is completed, but they do not function as an undo history.
Before the transfer
- Review the Pokémon’s species, Combat Power, appraisal, moves, and any favorite or costume status shown on its details screen.
- Check whether it is marked as a favorite or otherwise protected from ordinary transfer actions.
- When selecting several Pokémon, inspect the full selection before confirming.
- Pause if the transfer screen displays a warning or asks for an additional confirmation.
After the transfer
Once you have confirmed and the Pokémon has left the account, the available official guidance does not provide a player-controlled reversal. Checking the Pokémon’s former storage position, restarting the app, or reinstalling Pokémon GO will not create a documented recovery path.

Common questions about accidental transfers
Can I tap an undo button immediately?
No undo button or recovery window is identified in Niantic’s transfer guidance. The stated rule is that you cannot get a Pokémon back after transferring it.
Will the Candy let me buy the Pokémon back?
No. Candy is the reward for transferring and is not described as a buy-back currency. Niantic’s guidance does not provide an exchange that converts the Candy into the transferred Pokémon.

Can Niantic support restore it if I contact an agent?
You may contact support through Pokémon GO’s Help Center, but the contact instructions do not promise restoration. Ask about your specific case without assuming that an exception exists.

Can Pokémon HOME recover it?
No. HOME is not a return path to Pokémon GO. Niantic states that Pokémon sent from GO to HOME cannot return to GO, and HOME cannot retrieve a Pokémon already transferred to Professor Willow.
A practical decision checklist
- Confirm what happened. Check that the Pokémon was actually transferred to Professor Willow, rather than sent to Pokémon HOME, traded, or simply moved in a storage list.
- Stop looking for a hidden restore control. The official transfer rule treats a completed transfer as irreversible.
- Use the in-app support route if you want an official response. Follow Map View → Main Menu → Settings → Help, then use the Help Center’s contact control.
- Describe the incident accurately. Include the Pokémon’s details and approximate timing, while understanding that support contact is not a restoration guarantee.
- Protect future favorites. Review selections and confirmation warnings before every bulk or single-Pokémon transfer.
Bottom line for the lost Pokémon
A Pokémon accidentally transferred to Professor Willow cannot be recovered through a documented Pokémon GO feature. Contacting Niantic is available if you want to report the mistake or ask about your account, but the published support guidance does not promise a rollback. Pokémon HOME cannot help because transfers from GO to HOME are also one-way with no return to GO.
