Then try Roblox’s password-recovery flow with the email address or phone number still attached to the account. If the attacker changed those details, contact Roblox Support with ownership evidence. Report missing items or Robux promptly: Roblox says requests for limited compromised-account inventory assistance generally need to be made within 30 days, and recovery is not guaranteed.
How to tell whether your Roblox account was hacked
A forgotten password is different from a compromised account. If your registered email or phone still works and nothing else looks wrong, start with password recovery. Treat the problem as a possible compromise if you see any of these signs:
- Your password no longer works, or the account email or phone number changed without your permission.
- Your username, display name, avatar, settings, or other profile details changed.
- Robux or items are missing, or there are trades or purchases you did not make.
- Friends say your account sent unfamiliar messages, links, or requests.
- You see unfamiliar account activity or a Roblox prompt to change your password after suspicious activity.
A login problem can also start outside Roblox: malware, a malicious browser extension, a phishing page, or a stolen browser cookie can expose an active session. If you suspect one of these, changing the password alone may not stop the attacker from getting back in. Roblox explains its password-change warning on its support page.
Secure your device and email before recovering Roblox
Clean the device you use to play
Do this before entering a new Roblox password on a device that may be compromised. Remove suspicious Roblox-related downloads and unknown browser extensions, including “free Robux” tools, exploits, injectors, cheats, and cracked software. Run a full malware scan; if malware is suspected, restart the device and scan again. Avoid logging in from it until it is clean. Roblox specifically recommends removing off-site downloads and extensions and scanning the device before recovery in its hacked-account guidance.

- Change its password to a unique one and enable two-step verification for the email account.
- Check for unfamiliar signed-in sessions, forwarding rules, or changes to recovery details.
- Save Roblox security messages and other evidence in your inbox.
If someone controls your email, they may be able to intercept Roblox reset messages or take the account back after you recover it. If the email itself was hacked, recover and secure it first. Do not trust an unfamiliar address just because it appears in a message claiming to be from Roblox.

Reset your password with your email address
- Open the Roblox login page and select “Forgot Password or Username?”
- Choose the Email tab and enter the address currently associated with the account.
- Check that inbox, including spam or junk folders, for Roblox’s reset message.
- Open the message, select Reset Password, and set a password you have not used for Roblox or any other service.
If multiple Roblox accounts use the same email address, you may be asked to choose which account to reset. The email flow sends instructions to the address currently attached to the account, so it will not help if an attacker replaced that address. Roblox’s documented steps are on its password recovery page.
Reset with a phone number
If the account has a phone number but no usable email recovery method, select “Forgot Password or Username?”, choose the Phone tab, select the country code, and enter the number. Complete the verification and enter the six-digit code sent to the phone, then set a new password. Roblox says phone recovery is available only in select countries. If the number is not attached to the account or the feature is unavailable, use Support instead of repeatedly trying random details. See Roblox’s password recovery instructions.
If the hacker changed your email or password
Contact Roblox Customer Support if a reset message goes to an unfamiliar address, no recovery method works, two-step verification blocks you, or you can still access the account but find unauthorized changes or missing items. Roblox asks users to contact Support using either the first email address ever added to the account or the billing email used for the first payment. These details can help establish ownership; they do not automatically restore access or guarantee a successful review.

If the account never had an email address or payment, contact Support anyway and provide credible account-history details you do have. Roblox may consider other verification options, but it does not guarantee recovery. Its hacked-account guidance describes the ownership review.
Prepare a clear Roblox Support request
Gather accurate information before submitting the official Roblox Support form. Include what you know; do not guess purchase details or invent dates.
- Roblox username and display name, approximate account-creation date, and previous usernames or display names.
- The first email added to the account or the billing email used for the first purchase, if available.
- Approximate dates, amounts, and platforms for legitimate purchases, plus screenshots of security messages or transaction records.
- When you noticed the compromise, what changed or went missing, and any unauthorized messages or trades.
- The device and location you normally use to access the account.
Use the email address that gives the strongest ownership evidence, and describe events consistently and factually. Avoid submitting multiple conflicting tickets. Never give anyone your password, browser cookie, two-step verification code, or backup code—not even someone claiming to be Roblox Support. Roblox says its employees will not ask for those credentials in its account-safety guidance.

My Roblox account appears to have been compromised. I can no longer access it because [password, email, or 2-step verification was changed].
Username: [username]
Approximate date I noticed the compromise: [date]
Original email or first billing email: [email]
Legitimate purchase details: [dates, platform, and amounts, if known]

Roblox’s Terms of Use say users who believe an account has been compromised or used without authorization should notify Support promptly. Do not pay an alleged recovery expert or share credentials with a third party.
If two-step verification is blocking access
Try another verification method already configured on the account, such as an email code, authenticator-app code, passkey, or backup code. The available options depend on the account’s settings. For email codes, check spam, junk, promotions, and other filtered folders; confirm you are checking the right email; then try Resend Code or Start Over. Roblox says email 2-step verification codes expire after 15 minutes and may stop working after an incorrect entry. If no configured method works, contact Support. For future recovery, Roblox says users who lose their primary 2-step verification method may need two different verification methods in their account details. Its listed backup options include a phone number for users aged 13 and over, and passkeys or backup codes for all ages. If too few methods were set up, normal 2-step verification recovery may not be possible. The options and setup details are in Roblox’s 2-step verification guidance.

Contact Roblox Support as soon as possible. State when the compromise happened and identify missing Robux, limited items, or other inventory; include relevant screenshots or transaction information if you have them. Roblox says assistance may be limited and it is not obligated to restore a compromised account to its previous state or recover lost virtual items or currency. In very limited circumstances, it may offer recovery of lost inventory or its approximate value, but requests for this kind of compromised-account assistance generally need to be made within 30 days of the compromise. Distinguish account takeover from a deal or trade made outside Roblox’s official systems. Roblox says it cannot support or enforce off-platform trades or recover inventory lost in them. It also advises users not to make purchases or trades outside its official systems.

Handle unauthorized charges
If someone used a saved payment method, contact Roblox Customer Support before disputing the charge whenever possible. Give the transaction dates and payment method, and secure the payment account—such as by removing or freezing the affected method. If a purchase went through an external provider such as Apple, Google Play, Microsoft, PlayStation, Amazon, Meta Quest, or Samsung, follow the refund route Roblox directs you to for that provider. A parent, guardian, or owner of the payment account may need to submit the request.
Roblox says it may work with parents and customers on unauthorized purchases, but some third-party processors require refund requests to go through the processor. Unauthorized charges may also affect the Roblox account. Follow the current instructions on Roblox’s unauthorized charges and refund page, and notify Roblox promptly if an account or payment method was used without permission.
Secure the account after recovery
- From a clean device, set a unique Roblox password. If you recovered the account on a device that may have been infected, change it again after that device is clean.
- Confirm the account’s email belongs to you or, for a child, an appropriate parent or guardian, then verify it. Roblox explains email and phone verification, including parental recovery email use for under-13 accounts.
- Add a phone number if supported and appropriate, enable 2-step verification, and set up other suitable methods such as an authenticator app or passkey. Save backup codes somewhere private and safe.
- Review available security and session controls, account details, connected credentials, and security methods. Remove anything unfamiliar; menu labels and placement can differ between web and mobile.
- Check messages, trades, groups, avatar items, Robux balance, and purchase history for activity you did not authorize.
- Change passwords on other services if you reused the Roblox password, and warn friends if your account sent them scam messages or links.
Reduce the chance of another takeover
- Use a unique password and never enter Roblox credentials on unofficial login pages.
- Avoid “free Robux” offers, suspicious links, cheats, exploits, and unknown extensions; they can steal passwords or browser sessions.
- Do not share passwords, browser cookies, 2-step verification codes, or backup codes. No legitimate recovery service needs them.
- Keep your recovery email secure and verified, and configure more than one usable 2-step verification method where possible.
- Make purchases and trades only through Roblox’s official systems.
