First check what the card says: a Fortnite Gift Card and an older V-Bucks card can both have 16-digit codes, but they use different redemption pages and add different things to your account. Use epicgames.com/redeem for a Fortnite Gift Card, or fortnite.com/vbuckscard for a V-Bucks card.
Identify the card before entering the code
| Card type | What to look for | What it adds | Redemption page | Console follow-up |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fortnite Gift Card | The front says “Fortnite Gift Card” and shows a money amount. | Funds to your Epic account balance. | epicgames.com/redeem | No separate console code is described in Epic’s instructions. |
| Older V-Bucks card | The front shows a V-Bucks amount. | V-Bucks only. | fortnite.com/vbuckscard | PlayStation and Xbox require redeeming a secondary code through the linked account. |
Epic distinguishes these card types in its card guidance. A retail product code for an Epic game is different: Epic directs those codes to the Epic Games Launcher or Epic Games Store rather than either card page. See Epic’s retail product code instructions.

Redeem a Fortnite Gift Card
- Check that the card says Fortnite Gift Card and shows a currency amount. Locate the code on the back; if it is not printed there, Epic says it may be on the store receipt.
- Go to epicgames.com/redeem, or scan the QR code on the card.
- Sign in to the Epic account that should receive the funds, enter the 16-digit code, and redeem it.
- The card’s value is added to your Epic account balance. Epic says the balance can be used for Fortnite V-Bucks, Fortnite Crew, Packs, Epic Games Store games and add-ons, and other purchases made through Epic’s payment system.
The gift card’s currency must match the currency of your Epic account balance.
Redeem an older V-Bucks card
- Confirm that the card shows a V-Bucks amount. This card type redeems for V-Bucks only.
- Sign in to the Epic account linked to the platform where you want to use the V-Bucks. Open fortnite.com/vbuckscard and start redemption.
- Enter the PIN without dashes, choose the linked platform, and review the account and balance shown on screen before confirming. Epic’s V-Bucks card instructions describe this process.
- For PC, Nintendo Switch, or mobile, launch Fortnite after redemption to spend the V-Bucks. For PlayStation or Xbox, Epic generates a secondary code; redeem that code through the linked Sony or Microsoft account to complete the process.

Your platform is missing from the list
The platform picker shows devices linked to the Epic account currently signed in. Check that you are using the right Epic account, then review its linked accounts.
#1 Best Overall
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
V-Bucks have not appeared on PlayStation or Xbox
Complete the secondary-code redemption through the linked Sony or Microsoft account. If you cannot find the email containing the code, Epic says you can locate it in your Epic account settings under Transactions, then V-Bucks Card Redemption.
The gift card currency does not match
A Fortnite Gift Card must use the same currency as the Epic account balance. Check the account and card currency before trying to redeem it.

The code is obscured or difficult to read
For a Fortnite Gift Card, peel the silver strip rather than scratching it; the code may also be printed on your receipt. An older V-Bucks card has a scratch-off panel, which Epic advises scratching gently.

Keep the V-Bucks card purchase receipt in case Epic Support needs it to help with the redemption.
