Redeem a traditional Fortnite V-Bucks Card at fortnite.com/vbuckscard: sign in to the Epic Games account linked to the intended Fortnite profile, choose Get Started, enter the PIN without dashes, select Next, choose the destination platform, verify the account and balance, then select Confirm. PlayStation and Xbox require one additional console-code redemption after this step.

Check which Fortnite card you have first

The product name printed on the card determines the process.

V-Bucks Card

A traditional V-Bucks Card contains a PIN that converts to the stated amount of Fortnite V-Bucks. The instructions below apply to this card.

Fortnite Gift Card

Fortnite Gift Cards are replacing V-Bucks Cards as Epic rolls them out by region and retailer. They add funds to an Epic Games account and may be used for V-Bucks, Fortnite Crew, Packs, Epic Games Store games, downloadable content and add-ons, subject to Epic’s terms. They use a different redemption process. Do not enter a card labeled “Fortnite Gift Card” into the V-Bucks Card page; follow the instructions supplied with that product instead. See Epic’s current information at fortnite.com/vbuckscard.

Fortnite eGift Card
  • Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
  • Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
  • If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
  • Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
  • Redemption: Online

What to prepare before entering the PIN

  • The Epic Games account connected to the Fortnite profile that should receive the V-Bucks.
  • The card PIN and, ideally, the purchase receipt.
  • The platform where you intend to redeem the balance.
  • An account region that matches the card’s territory.

Check the Epic display name against the in-game name before submitting anything. Signing in with console credentials can be convenient, but verify that Epic has opened the intended linked account—especially when several people share a console or device. The console username alone is not enough.

Keep the receipt until the balance is visible. Epic may request it when investigating activation or redemption issues. Do not post or send the PIN to anyone other than official support.

Redeem the V-Bucks Card at Epic’s official page

  1. Open https://www.fortnite.com/vbuckscard. Avoid third-party “free V-Bucks” sites and code generators.
  2. Sign in to the correct Epic Games account.
  3. Select Get Started.
  4. Reveal the PIN carefully. Enter it without dashes, then select Next.
  5. Choose the platform where the V-Bucks should be redeemed. Select the platform you actually plan to use, not merely the device currently in front of you.
  6. Review the confirmation screen. Check the Epic account, selected platform and displayed V-Bucks amount or new balance.
  7. If every detail is correct, select Confirm. If anything is wrong, stop and switch accounts or platform before confirming.

For PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile, launch Fortnite on the selected platform and check the balance. A restart may be needed to refresh the account.

PlayStation and Xbox require a second code

For these consoles, the PIN redemption is only the first stage:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Complete the Epic redemption steps above and select Confirm.
  2. Epic generates a secondary code and displays it in the flow. It also sends the code to the email address on the Epic account.
  3. Sign in to the PlayStation Network or Microsoft account linked to that Epic account.
  4. Redeem the secondary code through the platform’s official process. Use PlayStation’s voucher instructions or Xbox’s prepaid-code instructions.
  5. Enter the code exactly as shown, without dashes or extra spaces. PlayStation codes are 12 characters; Xbox codes are 25 characters.
  6. Launch Fortnite on the same console used for the secondary-code redemption. That platform sign-in can trigger the V-Bucks credit.

If the email with the secondary code is missing

In Epic account settings, open Transactions, then V-Bucks Card Redemption, and open the relevant redemption record. Epic documents this recovery route at its secondary-code help page.

When and where the V-Bucks appear

On PC, mobile and Nintendo Switch, check Fortnite after completing the web redemption; restarting the game can refresh the display. On PlayStation and Xbox, first redeem the secondary code and then open Fortnite on that same console.

Fortnite Physical Gift Card
  • An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
  • If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
  • The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
  • Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
  • Redemption: Online

What you can see and spend on another platform depends on Epic’s Shared Wallet rules. Epic identifies PlayStation, Xbox, PC, mobile and cloud gaming services as Shared Wallet platforms. V-Bucks from a V-Bucks Card redeemed on one of those supported platforms can generally be used on the others. Nintendo has important exceptions: V-Bucks received on Nintendo devices by redeeming a V-Bucks Card can be used only on Nintendo devices, and V-Bucks purchased on Nintendo Switch are not shared with other platforms. Items bought with V-Bucks remain available on supported platforms where you use Fortnite. See the current rules at Epic’s Shared Wallet guidance and the V-Bucks Card page.

Region restrictions can block a valid card

V-Bucks Cards are territory-specific. The Epic account’s country or region must match the card’s territory; changing a device’s language, currency or location does not bypass the restriction. Epic lists territory restrictions affecting cards sold in countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. Availability and restrictions can vary by card and region.

To check the account region, open the Epic Games Store, select the player icon, choose Account, open Account Settings, scroll to Address, and inspect Country/Region. Epic’s territory guidance is available at this support page.

Troubleshoot the exact failure

Message or symptom Likely cause What to do
“Invalid” code Typing error or card not activated at sale Use the official page, re-enter carefully without dashes, and contact the retailer if the PIN is correct. Epic says the retailer must address a card that was not activated; see Epic’s invalid-code guidance.
Territory-restriction message Card and Epic account regions differ Check Country/Region and contact the retailer about a card matching the account’s territory. Do not assume a foreign card will work because its currency or face value looks familiar.
No secondary-code email Email delay, wrong inbox or filtered message Retrieve it through Account Settings → Transactions → V-Bucks Card Redemption.
PlayStation or Xbox rejects the secondary code Wrong linked console account, formatting error or platform-side issue Verify the linked Sony or Microsoft account, use the correct 12- or 25-character code, remove dashes and spaces, then contact the platform provider if it is still rejected. Epic’s instructions are at this support page.
Web redemption succeeded but balance is missing Wrong account, game not refreshed or console step incomplete Restart Fortnite, verify the active Epic account and selected platform, and on PlayStation or Xbox redeem the secondary code and open Fortnite on that same console. For account-specific cases, contact Epic Support. See Epic’s missing-V-Bucks guidance.
Code already redeemed It was previously used or applied to another account Check every Epic account used by the household and contact Epic Support with the receipt. A transfer is not guaranteed.

Important limits and safety precautions

  • V-Bucks normally cannot be transferred between Epic accounts.
  • Epic does not generally refund V-Bucks. You can gift eligible Fortnite Shop items, but that does not move the V-Bucks balance itself.
  • Cards may not be replaced if they are lost, stolen, destroyed or used without permission. Photographing the card and retaining the receipt before scratching it can help with a support investigation, but never publish the PIN.
  • If you redeemed to the wrong Epic account, contact Epic Support promptly; assistance may be possible, but do not assume the balance can be moved.
  • Do not buy another card until you know whether the problem is activation, territory, account selection or the console’s secondary-code step.

Epic’s official redemption and card terms are at fortnite.com/vbuckscard.
