The right way to redeem a Fortnite code on PS5 depends on the code type. Redeem a PlayStation Store voucher on the console; redeem a V-Bucks card through Epic first, then enter Epic’s generated PlayStation code in the Store. A Fortnite Gift Card adds funds to an Epic account balance and uses a separate Epic redemption flow.
Identify your code before entering it
“Fortnite code” can mean several different things. Check the card or code description so you use the correct service:

| Code type | First redemption location | What happens next | Key distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Store voucher | PlayStation Store on PS5 | Content or wallet credit is applied to the signed-in PlayStation account. | A PlayStation voucher, typically 12 digits; its region must match the account. |
| V-Bucks card | Epic’s V-Bucks Card redemption flow | Select PlayStation, then redeem the generated secondary code in PlayStation Store. | A two-stage process; Epic identifies the PlayStation secondary code as 12 characters. |
| Fortnite Gift Card | Epic’s gift card redemption page | Funds are added to the Epic account balance for eligible purchases. | Separate from both a PlayStation voucher and a V-Bucks card. Epic says its gift card PIN is 16 digits. |
| Epic product code | Epic Games Launcher or Epic Games Store website | The eligible product is added to the Epic account. | Not a PlayStation voucher or Fortnite card. |
Redeem a PlayStation Store voucher on PS5
- Sign in to the PlayStation account where the credit or content should be applied.
- Open PlayStation Store.
- Press the Triangle button to open the menu.
- Select … (More) > Redeem Code.
- Enter the 12-digit voucher code and select Redeem.
- Select Download if the option appears and you need to download the content. Some entitlements do not require a download.
PlayStation’s voucher instructions apply to PlayStation Store vouchers. If you have a V-Bucks card, start with Epic’s process below rather than entering its PIN in this menu.
Redeem a V-Bucks card for PlayStation
- Sign in to the Epic account linked to the PlayStation account you use for Fortnite. Confirm that it is the account with the intended Fortnite profile.
- Visit fortnite.com/vbuckscard and choose Get Started.
- Enter the card PIN as prompted, select PlayStation as the platform, and continue.
- Check the Epic account, selected device, and displayed balance before confirming.
- Epic generates a PlayStation secondary code and sends it by email. Epic describes this code as 12 characters.
- On PS5, sign in to the PlayStation account linked to that Epic account, then use the PlayStation Store voucher steps above to redeem the secondary code.
- Launch Fortnite and check the V-Bucks balance.
Epic’s full V-Bucks card instructions explain the redemption flow. If the email with the secondary code is missing, check Epic Account Settings > Transactions > V-Bucks Card Redemption. Keep the purchase receipt in case support requests it. If PlayStation is not listed as a platform, check that you are signed in to the Epic account linked to the intended device; Epic says the platform list reflects devices linked to the current account.
#1 Best Overall
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Redeem a Fortnite Gift Card
A Fortnite Gift Card adds funds to an Epic account balance; it is not redeemed as a PlayStation Store voucher. Epic says the balance can be used for eligible purchases through Epic’s payment system, including Fortnite V-Bucks, Fortnite Crew, and packs. Use Epic’s gift card redemption instructions: scan the card’s QR code or enter its PIN at the redemption page, sign in to the intended Epic or console account, verify the account details, link accounts if prompted, and redeem the balance.
Epic’s gift card FAQ says the card currency must match the currency of the Epic account balance. It describes Fortnite Gift Cards as replacing V-Bucks cards, while noting older V-Bucks cards may remain available in some regions or stores during the rollout. Availability and terms can vary by region and may change.

- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts

Redeem an Epic product code
If your code is an Epic retail or product code—not a PlayStation voucher, V-Bucks card, or Fortnite Gift Card—redeem it through the Epic Games Launcher or Epic Games Store website while signed in to the Epic account where you want the product. Submit the code; a successfully redeemed game should appear in the Launcher Library. Epic’s product-code instructions direct Gift Card and V-Bucks card holders to their separate flows.

Fix a Fortnite code that will not redeem
- Check the code type and redemption service. A PlayStation voucher belongs in PlayStation Store; a V-Bucks card starts at Epic; a Fortnite Gift Card funds an Epic balance; and an Epic product code uses Epic’s Launcher or Store website.
- Verify the accounts. For a V-Bucks secondary code, use the PlayStation account linked to the Epic account used for the card redemption.
- Check the region. PlayStation says voucher codes must match the region of the PlayStation account, and the account’s region cannot be changed after setup. See PlayStation’s voucher troubleshooting guidance.
- Check whether the voucher was already used. PlayStation codes can be redeemed only once. Check the account’s transaction history and Library before trying again.
- Check expiry and activation. Look for an expiry date; if the code was bought from a retailer, confirm the voucher was activated at checkout.
- If content or currency is missing, restart the console, sign out and back in to the correct PlayStation account, check transaction history and Library, then relaunch Fortnite for add-on currency or content.
- If the V-Bucks secondary code is missing, look under Epic Account Settings > Transactions > V-Bucks Card Redemption. Epic may ask for the card purchase receipt.
- If the code is still rejected, recheck the characters and the redemption service. If an Epic-generated secondary code remains rejected after you verify the account and code, Epic directs users to the platform support team because redemption is processed there.
