Redeem a Fortnite gift card through Epic Games, not the PlayStation Store: scan the card’s QR code or enter its PIN in Epic’s gift-card redemption flow, then confirm the Epic account that is linked to the PlayStation account you use on PS5. The card adds funds to your Epic account balance; it does not directly add a PlayStation Store balance.
First, check which kind of card you have
Epic is transitioning from V-Bucks cards to Fortnite gift cards, and V-Bucks cards may still be sold in some regions during the rollout. They are different products with different redemption steps.

The steps below are for a Fortnite gift card. If your card displays a V-Bucks amount, skip to the V-Bucks-card instructions.
Redeem a Fortnite gift card for use with PS5
- Open Epic’s redemption flow. Scan the QR code printed on the gift card using a phone or computer, then choose Redeem. If scanning fails, open Epic’s gift-card redemption page and enter the card PIN. If there is no code on the card, check the retailer receipt. Epic’s step-by-step instructions
- Sign in to the intended Epic account. Use the Epic account associated with the PlayStation account you use to play Fortnite, or sign in through the linked console account if prompted. Carefully check the account details before continuing.
- Link an account if Epic asks. Complete the linking step if prompted, then review the redemption details and select Redeem now.
- Use the balance for an eligible purchase. Epic says balance-funded purchases can include V-Bucks, Crew, and DLC. Its instructions direct customers to the Epic Games Store or Fortnite on mobile or PC for those purchases; the redemption itself does not create a PlayStation Store code.
- Launch Fortnite on PS5 with the linked PlayStation account. Make sure that PlayStation account is linked to the same Epic account that received the balance. If you buy V-Bucks on PlayStation, Epic says you need to sign in to Fortnite on PlayStation for those V-Bucks to appear. Epic Games Support
If your card is a V-Bucks card
A V-Bucks card does not add money to your Epic account balance. Redeem it through Epic’s V-Bucks-card flow: sign in to the correct Epic account, enter the PIN, choose PlayStation as the platform, review the account and amount, and confirm. For PlayStation, Epic then generates a separate 12-character code. Redeem that code with Sony on the PlayStation account linked to your Epic account. Epic Games Support

Fortnite Physical Gift Card
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

If the separate PlayStation code does not arrive by email, Epic says you can find it in Account Settings → Transactions → V-Bucks Card Redemption. Epic Games Support
Fix common redemption and balance problems
- The balance or V-Bucks are missing: Check that you redeemed on the intended Epic account and that it is linked to the PlayStation account you use. Restart Fortnite. Purchases made on PlayStation require signing in to Fortnite on PlayStation for the purchased V-Bucks to show up.
- You used a V-Bucks card but cannot find the Sony code: Check Account Settings → Transactions → V-Bucks Card Redemption, rather than looking for the code in the gift-card balance flow.
- The card’s country differs from your account’s country: Epic’s terms say cards intended for distribution in one country may be redeemable only on Epic accounts registered in that country. Check the card’s region and your Epic account’s registered country before redeeming. Epic Games Terms of Service
- You expect Epic-balance V-Bucks to appear on Nintendo: Epic says V-Bucks bought with Epic account balance can be shared across other platforms except Nintendo, which does not support Fortnite Shared Wallet. Epic Games Support
Where Fortnite gift cards are available
Epic lists major gaming and electronics retailers, including GameStop, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart, but availability varies by country and region. Check Epic’s regional gift-card availability information for your location rather than assuming a retailer carries the card everywhere.
