You can send viewers from a scheduled YouTube live stream to a Premiere when the stream ends. Set up the Premiere first, then select it under the live stream’s redirect settings in YouTube Studio. YouTube documents a Premiere—not a playlist itself—as a redirect destination, so this works when you mean a Premiere video that may also be included in a playlist.
What Live Redirect does—and what “playlist Premiere” means
YouTube Live Redirect moves viewers from an ending live stream to a selected Premiere or another channel’s live stream. The destination should be ready before the source event ends. YouTube describes the destination as a Premiere, not as a playlist, so select the scheduled Premiere video itself. A playlist may contain that video, but the playlist is not the redirect target. YouTube’s Live Redirect instructions and its Premiere instructions explain these separate features.
A Premiere is a video released at a scheduled time for its creator and audience to watch together. Scheduling it creates a public watch page in advance, where viewers can set a reminder, comment, and chat.
Check eligibility before scheduling the handoff
YouTube Help says the creator sending the redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. This threshold applies to the creator setting up the redirect; it is not a viewership or performance target. Check YouTube’s current eligibility information if your Studio account does not show the control.

- Redirecting to your own Premiere: Set up the Premiere and select it as the destination.

See YouTube’s current Live Redirect eligibility and permission guidance for the latest controls.
Set up a scheduled live-to-Premiere redirect
- Create and schedule the destination first. Upload the video, schedule its date and time, and set it as a Premiere. Confirm the scheduled time and that its public watch page is available. YouTube recommends preparing the Premiere before the live stream.
- Open the scheduled source stream. In YouTube Studio, go to Content, then Live. Edit the scheduled live stream that will send viewers onward.
- Choose the Premiere destination. Open Customization, find Redirect, select Add, and choose the scheduled Premiere.
- Verify the handoff when ending the live stream. When you end the source stream, check YouTube’s confirmation that viewers will be redirected.
- Tell viewers what to expect. Ask them to wait a few seconds after the live ends while the Premiere loads.
The Studio labels above follow YouTube Help; availability and exact wording can vary by locale. If the Premiere does not appear as a choice, confirm that it is scheduled and that you are editing the intended source stream.

What viewers will see—and why some may not move automatically
YouTube describes autoplay to the selected destination after the source stream ends, but does not promise a seamless transition in every playback setup. In a May 3, 2022 feature announcement, TeamYouTube said viewers with autoplay disabled would need to press play. That is historical product guidance rather than a guarantee about every current client, so tell viewers the destination may take a few seconds or require a play action, and validate the flow in the viewing setup you expect them to use. TeamYouTube’s announcement describes that caveat.
Troubleshoot a missing or unsuccessful redirect
- The Redirect option is missing: Check that the sending channel meets YouTube’s stated threshold of more than 1,000 subscribers and has no Community Guideline strikes. Confirm you are editing a scheduled live stream in Studio.
- The Premiere is not listed: Make sure you created and scheduled the Premiere before configuring the source stream, and that you are choosing the Premiere video rather than expecting to choose a playlist.
- Viewers remain on the ended stream: Confirm the destination was selected under the source stream’s Customization > Redirect controls and that the end-of-stream confirmation indicated a redirect. Allow a few seconds for playback to change; some viewers may need to press play.
- The destination is another channel’s live stream: Ask that channel to allow your redirect in its Studio settings. This permission requirement concerns another channel’s live stream; it is distinct from sending viewers to your own Premiere.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your scheduled event is part of a longer YouTube programming plan, StreamNeo can keep uploaded videos looping on a YouTube channel from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos, not camera broadcasts, and it does not replace configuring YouTube Live Redirect for this Premiere handoff.
