Set up the Premiere first, then add it as the livestream’s destination in YouTube Studio. Open Content > Live, edit the source stream, and choose Customization > Redirect > Add. When the livestream ends, YouTube can move viewers to the Premiere; viewers with autoplay disabled may need to press play.
Before you start: check eligibility and create the Premiere
YouTube calls this feature Live Redirect. The sending creator must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes, according to YouTube’s Live Redirect instructions.
Create or schedule the Premiere before configuring the livestream redirect. You can set a Premiere to begin immediately or schedule it for later using YouTube’s Premiere setup instructions. Make sure the destination is ready and that you select the intended video.
Set the redirect in YouTube Studio
- Open the source livestream: Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Content, then the Live tab. Find the livestream that will send viewers and select Edit.
- Choose the destination: Open Customization. Under Redirect, select Add, then choose the Premiere from the available choices.
- Save and verify: Save the livestream’s changes. Check that the selected destination is the Premiere you intend viewers to watch.
- End the source stream: When the livestream ends, YouTube says autoplay moves viewers to the selected destination. Tell viewers to wait a few seconds while the page reloads.
What viewers should expect
The transition is not guaranteed for every viewer. YouTube’s TeamYouTube launch announcement says viewers who have autoplay disabled need to click the play button. Mention this before ending the livestream so they know what to do if the Premiere does not start automatically.

A Premiere plays a video with the creator and community in real time: viewers can rewind, but cannot skip ahead of what has played. After the event, the video remains on the channel as a regular upload, with chat replay available, according to YouTube’s Premiere guidance.
If you are redirecting to another channel’s live stream
The steps also allow a live stream on another channel as the destination, but that channel must permit the redirect. The recipient can allow all channels, allow channels based on subscriptions, or manually approve specific channels; the manual approval list supports up to 100 channels. If the destination does not appear, ask its owner to review the redirect permissions in YouTube Studio. These recipient permissions apply to cross-channel live destinations; for a Premiere on your own channel, select it from the available Premiere choices.

Troubleshooting
- The redirect option or Premiere is unavailable: Confirm the sending channel meets YouTube’s eligibility requirements, and that the Premiere has already been created or scheduled.
- The destination is another channel’s live stream and cannot be selected: The receiving channel may not have granted permission. Ask its owner to check the recipient settings.
- Viewers remain on the livestream page: Ask them to wait a few seconds for the page to reload. If autoplay is disabled, they may need to click play.
- The wrong video is selected: Return to the source stream’s Customization > Redirect settings and choose the intended Premiere before the livestream ends.
