EA says this removes moodlets and returns your Sim to a neutral mood. It clears all moodlets, not just the stuck one.
Remove moodlets with a cheat
- Open the cheat console.
- PC or Mac: Press Ctrl + Shift + C.
- PlayStation: Press L1, L2, R1 and R2 together.
- Xbox: Press LB, LT, RB and RT together.
EA lists these console-opening controls in its reset instructions.
- Enter
sims.remove_all_buffsand press Enter. EA’s cheat FAQ describes the command as removing moodlets and returning the Sim to a neutral mood.
The command is broad: it removes all moodlets from the Sim, so use it only if you are comfortable clearing positive and negative moodlets alike. It does not target one specific moodlet.
Reset a Sim who is stuck or unresponsive
If the Sim is not responding to actions as well as showing a stuck moodlet, try EA’s reset method. A reset returns the Sim to a playable state; it does not send them home or change their needs. It also cancels wishes and moodlets, so check the Sim’s wishes afterward if you wanted them to complete particular actions.
Use the named-Sim command
- Open the cheat console using the controls for your platform above.
- Type
resetSim Firstname Lastname, replacing the example words with the Sim’s first and last name, then submit the command.
Use Reset Object (Debug) on PC or Mac
- Open the console with Ctrl + Shift + C and enter
testingcheats true. - Hold Shift and click the Sim.
- Choose Reset Object (Debug).
EA’s English reset instructions do not specify equivalent context-menu controls for PlayStation or Xbox. If the menu method is unclear on console, use the named-Sim command instead.

Should you use resetSim *?
EA also documents resetSim * as an attempt to reset all Sims in the current game. It may not reset every Sim and can return a “Sim not found” error. For a problem affecting one Sim, use resetSim Firstname Lastname rather than the wildcard command.
What if the same moodlet comes back?
If a particular moodlet returns after removal, these commands alone do not identify why it came back or provide a targeted fix. Note the moodlet’s name and the circumstances in which it reappears before looking for a cause-specific solution.
