There is no confirmed way to remove or disable Lucia Caminos’s ankle monitor in Grand Theft Auto VI. As of October 16, 2026, Rockstar Games has not documented a mission, item, cheat, hack, accessory, or setting that removes it. GTA VI is still listed as an upcoming release for November 19, 2026, so any step-by-step method circulating before launch is speculation rather than a verified gameplay instruction.
The monitor is visible in Rockstar’s trailers, screenshots, artwork, and Lucia-focused promotional material. Those assets establish that it is part of her on-screen design, but they do not explain whether it affects movement, map access, police behavior, character switching, or any other system.

What is confirmed about Lucia’s ankle monitor
The strongest answer available before release is a limitation: the public material does not establish a removal mechanic. Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI product listing gives the game a November 19, 2026 release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It does not describe an ankle-monitor feature or provide instructions for changing Lucia’s equipment.

Rockstar’s GTA VI media page contains trailers, a Lucia Caminos video clip, artwork, and screenshots. The monitor can be seen in that promotional material. However, the page is a presentation of the game and its characters, not a gameplay manual. It contains no documented procedure for taking the device off, disabling it temporarily, or making it irrelevant to a mission.
#1 Best Overall
A third-party GTA6Sidekick article discusses the monitor as a trailer detail. That kind of coverage can help identify what viewers noticed, but it is not an authoritative, reproducible walkthrough. Pre-release gameplay reporting likewise describes scenes and systems shown in official footage without documenting a monitor-removal mechanic.

Why a definitive walkthrough does not exist yet
The game has not launched
Before a game is released, players cannot independently verify every mission branch, equipment state, map boundary, or interaction. Trailers show selected scenes under controlled presentation conditions. They are evidence that a visual element exists, not proof of how that element behaves during normal play.
That distinction matters for the monitor. A camera angle can show Lucia wearing it without revealing whether it is permanently attached, removed in a cutscene, hidden by clothing, or purely a character-design detail. None of those possibilities should be presented as fact until the released game or an authoritative post-launch guide demonstrates it.
Promotional copy does not define the monitor’s rules
Rockstar’s product page says, “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them.” That line establishes the tone of their story. It does not say that Lucia is under electronic supervision, that the device enforces a boundary, or that a particular mission will disable it.

Likewise, an image or trailer shot cannot by itself confirm a wanted-level effect, a geofence, a timer, a character-switching restriction, or a consequence for leaving a particular area. Those are possible designs, but they remain unconfirmed until the game shows them in a reproducible context.
Answers to the questions players are asking
“How do I take off Lucia’s ankle monitor?”
There is currently no verified set of inputs or mission steps. Do not treat a video, social-media post, or forum comment as a working method unless it identifies a released-game build and demonstrates the result in a way other players can reproduce.
“Can Lucia remove the ankle bracelet?”
That has not been established. The monitor may be removable, permanently present, replaced by a story event, or unrelated to a gameplay system. Official material does not choose among those possibilities.

“Is the ankle monitor a map restriction?”
There is no official statement that it limits Lucia’s playable area. It could be a narrative prop, a visual indicator of her circumstances, or a system with effects that have not been explained. Calling it a map restriction before launch turns a theory into an unsupported claim.

“Which mission disables Lucia’s monitor?”
No mission name is confirmed. A mission title, chapter number, reward, or prerequisite should not be published as fact unless it comes from the released game or a reliable post-launch walkthrough that shows the sequence.
How to judge a claimed removal method
When a purported solution appears, use the following checks before trying to rely on it. They separate a genuine discovery from a trailer theory, a mistranslated rumor, or a fabricated guide.
- Check the release and platform. Confirm that the demonstration uses a publicly released version of Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, rather than a trailer, leaked clip, concept video, or unrelated Grand Theft Auto title.
- Look for a complete sequence. A credible method should show the starting conditions, the mission or location, every required interaction, and the resulting change. A cropped clip of Lucia appearing without the monitor does not prove that the device was removed; it could be a different scene, outfit, save state, or editing transition.
- Identify the exact trigger. The report should state whether the change follows a story mission, optional activity, item pickup, dialogue choice, safe-house interaction, or another event. “It happens later” is not enough for a reproducible guide.
- Test the claimed permanence. If the monitor disappears, check whether it remains absent after saving, loading, changing characters, completing another mission, or entering a different area. A temporary cutscene state is different from a permanent equipment change.
- Check the game mode. A behavior in story mode cannot automatically be applied to an online mode, and an online feature cannot be assumed to exist in the campaign. The mode, character, and version should be stated explicitly.
- Separate visual changes from mechanical changes. Clothing, camera distance, lighting, and animation can make a small object hard to see. A real removal claim should establish what changed in play, not merely what is visible in one frame.
- Prefer corroboration. A repeatable demonstration from an established guide, supported by multiple independent players, is stronger than a single unsourced post. Until then, label the claim as unverified.
What the monitor might mean—and what cannot be inferred
Players naturally connect an ankle monitor with supervision, restricted movement, or a criminal-justice storyline. Those interpretations may fit the character presentation, but they are not confirmed mechanics. A developer can use the same prop for atmosphere, character history, a scripted sequence, or an interactive system.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Nothing in the currently available official material confirms any of the following:
- that crossing a boundary triggers an alert or penalty;
- that police or another faction can track Lucia through the device;
- that the device controls character switching between Lucia and Jason;
- that removing it expands the map or unlocks a district;
- that it changes wanted levels, stealth, missions, or dialogue;
- that it can be damaged, hacked, purchased, equipped, or traded;
- that it has different behavior in campaign and online play.
These are useful questions for a future guide, but they should remain questions until a released build supplies evidence. Treating a plausible design idea as a confirmed feature can send players searching for a mission or item that does not exist.

A reliable answer should be built from the released game, not from a trailer interpretation. If you want to investigate the monitor yourself, record the conditions rather than relying on memory.
- Record the version and mode. Note the platform, game version, story or online mode, playable character, and whether the test begins from a fresh save or an existing one.
- Establish the baseline. Capture Lucia wearing the monitor during ordinary free roam and note her accessible area, character-switching options, wanted behavior, and any relevant user-interface messages.
- Track story progress. Write down the mission, chapter, or activity completed immediately before any change. If a guide claims a story requirement, this is the information needed to verify it.
- Test one variable at a time. Do not combine a mission, cheat, item, clothing change, and save reload in one experiment. Isolating the trigger shows what actually caused the result.
- Verify the outcome. Check whether the monitor remains changed after a save, reload, character switch, mission completion, and return to free roam. Document whether the effect is visual only or changes gameplay.
- Check reversibility. If it can be removed, determine whether it returns after a story event, outfit change, reload, or other action. A reversible state should not be described as a permanent removal.
- Publish exact conditions. A useful walkthrough needs the mission name, prerequisites, location, interactions, mode, platform or version, and expected result. Include failure cases so readers know when the method does not apply.
How future verified methods should be compared
If Rockstar or a dependable post-launch guide eventually documents more than one approach, the important differences will not be limited to the button sequence. Compare methods using the same questions so readers can choose the appropriate one.
| Comparison point | What to establish |
|---|---|
| Story requirement | Whether the change is mandatory progress, an optional activity, or a freely available action. |
| Availability | The mission, chapter, location, item, or prerequisite that unlocks it and when that becomes accessible. |
| Playable-area effect | Whether Lucia’s movement, map access, activities, or travel options actually change. |
| Character switching | Whether the monitor affects switching between Lucia and Jason, and whether the change persists for both characters’ activities. |
| Reversibility | Whether the monitor can return after a reload, story event, outfit change, or other trigger. |
| Game mode | Whether the method works in story mode, online mode, or only one of them. |
| Version dependence | Whether a patch, platform, or regional release changes the behavior. |
These criteria prevent a temporary scripted disappearance from being confused with a permanent equipment change, and they keep a campaign discovery from being incorrectly advertised as an online feature.
What players can safely conclude today
Grand Theft Auto VI is officially scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Lucia’s ankle monitor is visible in Rockstar’s promotional material, but Rockstar has not explained its gameplay function or published a way to remove it. No verified mission, item, cheat, hack, or accessory currently provides that result.
Until the game is released and a reproducible demonstration exists, the accurate answer to every removal question is that the mechanic is unknown. Recheck Rockstar’s official updates and dependable post-launch walkthroughs after release. Any pre-release claim should be labeled speculation, not followed as an established instruction.
