The safe way to remove Easy Anti-Cheat is to remove the games that installed it, restart Windows, and then use the EAC setup program bundled with the game. Only use Windows driver-removal tools when a specific residual driver has been identified; deleting a guessed file or Driver Store package can affect unrelated Windows functionality.

“The Easy Anti-Cheat driver” can mean several different things:
- the EAC Windows service, which starts when an EAC-protected game starts and normally stops when the game exits;
- the EAC executable and setup files installed with a game;
- a game-specific EAC registration or product entry; or
- the kernel-mode driver loaded by the service.
These components are related but are not interchangeable. Deleting a visible EasyAntiCheat folder does not necessarily unregister the service or remove a driver package from the Windows Driver Store. Conversely, deleting an unconfirmed driver package can damage another device or Windows component.

Recommended removal order
- Uninstall all EAC-protected games you no longer want.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the EAC setup executable from an associated game’s folder as administrator.
- Use its normal Uninstall option when available.
- Only if necessary, use the official EOS service-reset procedure.
- Verify the service and files are gone.
- Investigate the Windows Driver Store only if Windows still identifies a specific incompatible EAC driver.
1. Uninstall the associated games first
EAC is commonly installed and removed as part of a game’s own installation lifecycle. One installation may also be shared by multiple games, so removing one game does not guarantee that the EAC service should be removed.
Use the launcher or Windows uninstall process that installed the game:
- Steam: open Library, right-click the game, choose Manage, then Uninstall.
- Epic Games Launcher: open Library, select the game’s three-dot menu, and choose Uninstall.
- Windows: open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find the game, select its three-dot menu, and choose Uninstall.
Repeat this for every installed game that depends on EAC if you want to remove the shared component completely. If you still play another EAC-protected game, leave EAC installed unless that game’s documentation specifically provides a separate supported configuration.
2. Restart Windows
Restart after uninstalling the game. A service or driver can remain temporarily present when it is still running or when another process has an open handle to it. Windows can mark such a service for deletion but finish the operation only after the handle closes, often during a restart.
3. Find the EAC setup executable
Open the installation directory of an EAC game that you just removed or that still contains the EAC files. Depending on the distribution, the folder and executable may have different names:

The exact location varies by game and launcher. In Steam, right-click the game in Library, choose Manage > Browse local files, and look for an EasyAntiCheat or EasyAntiCheat_EOS folder. In Epic Games Launcher, open the game’s three-dot menu, choose Manage, and use the folder or installation-location option if shown.

Right-click the setup executable and choose Run as administrator. If Windows displays a User Account Control prompt, confirm only if the file is inside the legitimate game installation you intend to manage.
4. Use the normal EAC uninstall option
If the setup program displays an Uninstall button, choose it and allow the operation to complete. Some versions show a game or product selection; others expose only the installation’s registered product. The product identifier can differ between games and between older EAC and EOS-based installations.
Do not guess a product identifier. Do not copy an identifier from another game or from a generic internet command. If the bundled setup program does not show the correct game or does not offer an uninstall control, use the procedure supplied by that game’s publisher rather than forcing a different ID.
Restart Windows again after the uninstall, then continue with the verification checklist below.
5. Advanced option: reset the EAC EOS service
Use this only when the normal game uninstall and bundled setup program do not remove the EOS service. The command applies to the EOS installation and should be run from the directory containing the executable supplied by the installed game.
- Open File Explorer and locate the folder containing
EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe. - Click the address bar, type
cmd, and press Enter while that folder is open. This opens Command Prompt in the correct directory. - Open an elevated Command Prompt if Windows reports that administrator rights are required. One way is to open Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin), then change to the EAC directory with
cd /d "C:pathtoEasyAntiCheat_EOS". - Run:
EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe qa-factory-resetCheck the command’s output for a success or failure message. The path must contain the executable belonging to the relevant installation; do not run a copied command against an arbitrary file. Restart Windows when the reset completes.

This is an advanced service-management operation, not a substitute for uninstalling the games that installed EAC. If the command fails, the executable closes immediately, or the service is locked, stop deleting files and use the affected game’s repair/reinstall process or its support channel.
6. Verify that EAC was removed
After restarting, check each layer rather than assuming that an empty folder means the driver is gone.

Check the service
Press Win+R, type services.msc, and press Enter. Look for an EAC-related service. You can also inspect services from an elevated Command Prompt:
sc query type= service state= allDo not remove a service solely because its name contains a similar word. Confirm that its service details point to an Easy Anti-Cheat executable. If the service is still present after a successful uninstall or reset, restart Windows once more before escalating; Windows may have marked it for deletion while it was in use.
Check the known folders
Look for remaining files in locations such as:

Remove leftover files only after the service uninstall or reset has succeeded and only when you are certain no remaining game needs them. File deletion alone does not unregister a service or remove a driver package.
7. If Windows still reports an incompatible EAC driver
Use this branch only when Windows or a specific game’s error identifies a residual driver. Do not jump to Driver Store deletion merely because an EAC folder remains.

Inspect Device Manager
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Open View > Show hidden devices.
- Inspect the device or driver named in the Windows or game error.
- Open Properties > Driver and record the provider, version, and driver details before changing anything.
Device Manager’s uninstall option may remove the device association and, when offered, the driver software. Administrative privileges may be required. Microsoft recommends creating a restore point before driver removal, because deleting a package can leave a device without a functioning driver if no replacement is available.
Identify the exact Driver Store package with PnPUtil
PnPUtil is included with supported versions of Windows. Open Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin) and enumerate third-party driver packages:
pnputil /enum-driversReview each candidate’s provider, class, version, and original INF. You need the confirmed Published Name, which normally looks like oem42.inf. Do not infer it from the EAC folder name, a file that merely looks related, or a number found in an online guide.
After confirming that the package belongs to Easy Anti-Cheat and is the package identified by the error, remove it with:

Support varies by game and launcher. For example, some Rocket League installations document different behavior between Steam and Epic Games Launcher, including a -noeac option for supported Steam installations. That option is not a universal EAC switch and should not be assumed to work for other games. Fortnite, by contrast, requires EAC for play according to its publisher’s support guidance.

If removal fails
- The setup program closes immediately: restart Windows and run the executable as administrator from the game’s own EAC folder. If it still fails, repair or reinstall the game.
- The service is locked or returns an access error: restart before trying again. Do not force deletion by manually removing system files.
- The driver causes blue screens: stop escalating removal commands. Use Windows recovery options or the game’s and EAC’s official support channels.
- You still need another EAC game: reinstall or repair EAC through that game’s launcher rather than deleting shared components.
Create a restore point before advanced Device Manager or Driver Store work. If official uninstall, repair, and reset procedures do not resolve the issue, contact the relevant game publisher’s support channel; EAC support generally directs game-specific problems back to the publisher.
