To remove the League of Legends desktop icon, delete its shortcut. This removes the shortcut, not the installed game, so League remains available through the Riot Client or another shortcut. If you mean an in-game icon or the Riot Vanguard tray icon, those are different things.
Remove the League of Legends desktop shortcut
- Find the League of Legends shortcut on your desktop.
- Right-click it and select Delete. Confirm if Windows asks.
Riot’s guidance also says to unpin old League shortcuts from the taskbar and Start screen. Right-click a pinned League entry and choose the available unpin option. Riot’s shortcut guidance is older and refers to legacy shortcuts; it does not establish how every current Riot Client shortcut is created or managed. Uninstall League of Legends instead
Windows
Close the Riot Client first. Open Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps, select League of Legends, and choose Uninstall. A restart may be required. Riot also describes a more extensive cleanup procedure for troubleshooting; that is not necessary just to remove a desktop shortcut. Mac
Close League of Legends and the Riot Client. In Applications, move League of Legends.app to the Trash. This removes the application; it is not the same as deleting an alias or shortcut from the desktop. Riot Games Support: Uninstalling and reinstalling games

If you mean an in-game icon
The steps above apply to the desktop shortcut, not an icon shown in a League menu or profile. Riot’s available guidance here does not establish a removal path for an in-game profile or summoner icon. If that is the icon you mean, identify the screen where it appears before changing anything.

Riot Vanguard has a separate icon in the system tray, where you can use it to exit Vanguard. Riot says Vanguard must be running to play League of Legends, so exiting or uninstalling it means you cannot play until it is running again. Riot Games Support: Riot Vanguard FAQ (League of Legends)
