If you find a suspicious GTA 6 download, demo, beta, early-access or leak link, don’t open the page or run its file. Report the post or message on the service where you found it, then submit the URL to a site-safety service if it appears to host phishing or malware. Contact Rockstar Support if your Rockstar account may be involved, and use IC3 for suspected phishing or spoofing in the United States.
What to do first
- Don’t open or run the download. Rockstar’s account-security guidance says, “Don’t download software from third-party sources, including cracked games.” A polished page, a “GTA 6 demo” button or a leak label does not prove a download is genuine. See Rockstar’s account security guidance.
- Don’t revisit the page to collect evidence. If you already have the URL, copy it as plain text for a report. Avoid reposting it as a clickable link, which could send someone else to the page.
- Report the item where you saw it. Use the report function for the specific social post, ad, message, video, marketplace listing, search result or browser warning. There is no single reporting form established for every fake GTA 6 link; the right route depends on the service.

When a form asks for details, provide the URL as text and describe where you encountered it. Don’t add passwords, verification codes or other sensitive account information to a public post or report that doesn’t require it.

If you clicked, downloaded or ran something
You clicked but did not download or enter information
Close the page. Don’t accept prompts, install anything or provide information. A click alone does not establish that your device is infected. If a file downloaded automatically, don’t open it; use the security software and instructions appropriate for your device.
You ran a file
Stop using the file and follow your operating system or security vendor’s malware-response guidance. Microsoft’s guidance for tech-support-scam victims recommends running a full Microsoft Defender scan, installing security updates, changing passwords, monitoring sign-in activity and contacting a financial institution if payment was made. You entered a password or payment details
Go directly to the legitimate service’s app or website—not the suspicious link—and change the exposed password. Change it anywhere else you reused it, and secure affected accounts with two-step or multifactor authentication. Rockstar recommends 2-Step Verification and says to watch for unfamiliar logins, changed email addresses and unauthorized third-party connections. Contact your bank or payment provider if you supplied payment details or sent money.
You may have exposed a browser session
Malwarebytes reported that a GTA-themed infostealer campaign targeted browser passwords, cookies, authenticated sessions, autofill data, browsing and download history, and some other stored credentials. A stolen session token may sometimes let someone reuse a signed-in session without entering your password or triggering a fresh two-factor prompt. If you suspect an infostealer, change affected passwords and use account settings to sign out everywhere, revoke sessions or remove unfamiliar devices when those controls are available; changing a password alone may not invalidate every active session. How to judge a claimed GTA 6 download
Check availability through Rockstar and official store pages rather than a download or leak site. In its August 24, 2026 report, Malwarebytes said Rockstar had not announced or released a GTA 6 demo or announced a PC version. The report gave November 19, 2026 as the release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those details are time-sensitive; verify current availability with Rockstar’s official GTA VI page and the relevant official console store before acting. The campaign’s “GTA 6 Extended Look” wording was also reported by Malwarebytes; that phrase is not evidence that a download is official.
Rockstar’s account-security guidance, last updated February 17, 2026, also advises checking email domains and links before opening messages, downloading attachments or providing information. It warns against third-party services seeking account details and recommends reporting suspicious account activity to Rockstar Support. The FBI likewise advises avoiding unsolicited links, checking URLs carefully, being cautious with downloads and using multifactor authentication; its guidance explains that spoofing can disguise an email address, sender name, phone number or URL to appear trustworthy.
