Request the refund from the storefront that processed your payment, describe the delisting and the specific access or functionality problem, and include transaction evidence. Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox use different eligibility rules; consumer-protection law in your country may provide additional remedies, especially when digital content is faulty.
Start with the storefront that charged you
Look at the receipt or bank statement and identify the seller of record. A purchase made through Steam should normally be handled through Steam Help; a PlayStation Store purchase through PlayStation’s refund process; and an Xbox or Microsoft Store purchase through Microsoft’s digital-game refund form. Contact SEGA directly first only when you bought the product from SEGA itself or need publisher-specific information. A platform generally cannot refund a transaction it did not process.

Delisting can mean several different things. A title may no longer appear in the store but remain in your library, or it may disappear from your library, fail to redownload, or lose a feature that was part of the purchase. Record the exact change. A request that identifies a concrete loss of access or a faulty function is more useful than simply saying that the listing vanished.
Collect the evidence before opening a case
Prepare one concise evidence package. Save copies before the store page, download entry, or error message changes.

- Account: the Steam, PlayStation Network, Xbox, or Microsoft account used for the purchase.
- Title and edition: the exact Sega game, edition, platform generation, and any bundle or downloadable content involved.
- Transaction proof: receipt, order number, transaction ID, purchase date, price, currency, and payment method.
- Delisting evidence: a screenshot or saved store-page address showing that the game is no longer offered for sale, with the date you captured it.
- Access evidence: a missing-library entry, failed-download notice, launch error, disabled mode, or other message showing what no longer works.
- Timeline: when you bought the game, when you first noticed the change, and when you tried to download or play it.
- Location: your country or region, because store procedures and statutory rights differ.
Ask for one remedy in plain language: a refund to the original payment method, a wallet credit where that is the available alternative, or another remedy required by applicable law. Do not claim that a delisting by itself guarantees approval.
Steam: submit through Steam Help
Steam’s published standard
Valve’s published standard is a request made within 14 days of purchase with less than two hours of play. Valve states that it will issue a refund on request through Steam Help when those conditions are met. The standard is a general rule, not a promise that every delisted title qualifies.
Steam’s retirement guidance adds an important qualification: purchases of a retired product remain covered by the normal Steam refund policy, while Valve may offer refunds when a developer retires a game. Retirement therefore does not create an automatic refund, but it is relevant context for a request that explains a resulting loss of access or promised functionality.

- Sign in to Steam Help with the account that owns the game.
- Choose Purchases.
- Select the Sega game and the transaction you want reviewed.
- Choose the problem that most closely describes what happened.
- Select I’d like to request a refund.
- Choose Steam Wallet or the original payment method, when Steam presents both options.
- Describe the delisting, the practical effect on your purchase, and the evidence you can provide, then submit the form.
If the purchase is older than 14 days or exceeds two hours
Submit the request anyway when the title’s removal has created a specific problem. Valve says requests outside the published rules can still be submitted for review. State the purchase date and playtime accurately, then explain why the situation changed after purchase: for example, you can no longer redownload the game, a purchased mode is unavailable, or the current product no longer supplies an advertised function. Attach the receipt and screenshots rather than presenting the age of the purchase as if it were within the standard window.

If the game still launches and remains downloadable from your library, explain why the remaining access is inadequate. If the only change is that new customers cannot buy it, approval is discretionary and the request should not imply a guaranteed entitlement.
PlayStation Store: check Transaction History first
Ordinary eligibility rules
PlayStation’s current guidance directs customers to open their Transaction History, select an eligible transaction, and choose Request Refund. For games and downloadable content, the normal checklist requires the request within 14 days of purchase and that the content has not been downloaded or streamed. PlayStation identifies faulty content as an exception to the no-download/no-stream condition.
That means a downloaded game is not automatically excluded when you can show a concrete defect, loss of promised access, or misleading store information. A bare statement that the title was delisted is weaker than evidence that the purchased entitlement can no longer be used as represented.
Self-service steps
- Open your PlayStation account’s Transaction History.
- Select the Sega transaction.
- Choose Request Refund if the option appears.
- Follow the prompts and describe the delisting, the date you noticed it, and the exact access or functionality problem.
- Submit the request and retain the confirmation or case details.
When the game was downloaded or streamed
Explain the defect rather than omitting the download history. Include an error message, a failed redownload, a missing library entry, or a feature that stopped working. If the store listing made a representation that is no longer true, quote the relevant wording from your receipt or saved listing and explain the difference factually. Do not describe a normal server shutdown as a technical defect unless you can identify what was promised and what failed.

If self-service is unavailable or denied
Use PlayStation Support through the same refund guidance when the transaction is not listed, the request button is missing, or the automated route rejects a claim that you believe involves faulty content. PlayStation says refunds may take 30 to 60 days. When the original payment method cannot receive the money, PlayStation may issue credit to the wallet instead.
Xbox and Microsoft Store: use the digital-game refund form
What Microsoft’s policy means
Microsoft says digital goods are not refundable unless the offer or applicable law makes the customer eligible, and online returns are not available in every market. Xbox requests are therefore handled case by case through the digital-game process rather than through an automatic delisting rule.
Microsoft says processing may take up to 72 hours. That is a processing estimate, not a guarantee that the request will be approved or that the money will arrive in your account within that period.

Submission steps
- Open Microsoft’s Xbox digital-game refund page and sign in.
- Select the Sega item or transaction.
- Choose Request a refund.
- Enter the reason. Identify the title, purchase date, delisting evidence, and the practical problem, such as an inability to redownload or use purchased content.
- Select Next, review the details, and submit.
- Save the confirmation and any case number.
If the automated form does not work
Use Xbox or Microsoft support and provide the saved transaction information. Tell support that the automated route was unavailable or declined the request, and ask that the case be reviewed under the applicable digital-goods policy and local law. Keep the case number and the date of every contact so you can refer to the same transaction instead of opening contradictory requests.

When a direct SEGA purchase is involved
SEGA’s EULA says that if you reject the agreement within 14 days after purchasing the product, you may contact SEGA customer service to inquire about a full refund of the purchase price. The same EULA says digital content is made available immediately after the order is accepted. This language concerns a direct relationship with SEGA; it does not replace the storefront’s procedure when Steam, PlayStation Store, or Xbox charged you.
For a direct SEGA order, provide the order confirmation, purchase date, product name, account details, and the reason you are rejecting the agreement or reporting a loss of the purchased service. For a platform purchase, start with the platform and mention any relevant SEGA statement only as supporting context.

Use a short chronology and separate facts from conclusions. The following template is deliberately neutral; replace the bracketed fields inside the message before sending it.

Common situations and the strongest next step
You bought the game recently and never downloaded it
Use the ordinary storefront route immediately. You are closest to Steam’s 14-day standard or PlayStation’s 14-day, no-download condition. Include the receipt and note that the title is no longer offered.
You bought it years ago
There is no single cross-platform rule that turns an old purchase into a refund. Steam explicitly permits out-of-window submissions for review; PlayStation and Microsoft require you to explain a fault, loss of access, misleading information, or another basis recognized by the applicable policy or law. Provide a precise timeline and avoid presenting the purchase as recent.
The game disappeared from the store but still works from your library
Document the store removal, but distinguish it from a loss of entitlement. A delisting can prevent new sales without removing an existing license. If you can still download and use the purchased game, explain any separate problem rather than implying that the store-page change alone proves a defect.
You cannot redownload or the entitlement vanished
Capture the library screen, the download error, and the date. This is the clearest way to show a practical loss after purchase. Submit to the platform that charged you and request review under its policy and any applicable consumer-law rights.
Only an online feature or server service stopped working
Identify the feature, whether it was described as included, and what the current error says. A server change may be different from removal of the single-player product. Ask for the remedy that matches the missing functionality and attach the original description if you have it.
Escalation and local consumer law
Store policies are not the entire legal picture. The available procedures and statutory remedies depend on your country, the seller, the date of purchase, and whether the digital content is faulty or fails to match its description. A platform policy may limit voluntary refunds while local law provides a separate repair, replacement, price-reduction, or refund right.
If a request is denied, save the decision and ask which rule was applied. Reply with the transaction ID, the concrete defect or access loss, and the legal basis you believe applies in your region. If the platform will not reconsider, contact the consumer-protection authority or dispute-resolution service available where you live. Do not threaten a chargeback as a first step: a payment dispute can suspend an account and is governed by your card issuer’s rules, not the storefront’s refund workflow.

- Recorded the exact Sega title, edition, account, and region.
