“Reset your Roblox avatar” can mean three different things: respawn your character in a game, change your profile avatar’s appearance, or respond to an automatic safety reset. For an in-game respawn, open the hamburger menu, choose Respawn (or press R on a keyboard), then confirm Reset. To change your profile avatar’s look, use Avatar and the Avatar Editor.
Respawn your character inside an experience
Use this option if your character is stuck, has lost a limb, or you want to return to a spawn point. Roblox describes the reset as a way to reappear and start over at a spawn point. It affects your character in the current experience—not the appearance of your profile avatar. Roblox Support: How to Reset Avatar – In Experience
- Open the hamburger menu in the upper-left corner of the game screen.
- Select Respawn. If you are using a keyboard, you can press R.
- When prompted, select Reset to confirm.
Change the appearance of your profile avatar
If you want to remove or equip clothing, accessories, or other appearance items, use the Avatar Editor rather than the in-game respawn control. - Select Avatar from the navigation menu to open the Avatar Editor.
- Choose a category, such as hats, hair, or face, and select an item to equip it.
- To remove an item, open Recent or the relevant category and select the highlighted item.
- To change skin tone, go to Head & Body > Skin Tone.
- If a change is not displaying correctly, select the Redraw link below your avatar picture.
Understand an automatic avatar reset
Roblox says it may automatically reset a profile avatar when its configuration violates Community Standards. If this happens, read the in-app message for the stated reason, then use the Avatar Editor to equip items again while reviewing the Community Standards and Roblox’s explanation of avatar resets.

If you believe the reset was a mistake, use Report mistake if that option appears in the message. Roblox says Customer Support does not manually review these safety-reset decisions. It also says refunds are not provided; in most cases, you still own the individual items, but may not wear them in the flagged combination or configuration.
