If you mean Cesbo Astra, restart the enabled stream with a control API request: send POST /control/ with {"cmd":"restart-stream","id":"YOUR_STREAM_ID"}. Then check Astra’s runtime status and the YouTube event separately. Astra restarting its output does not prove that YouTube is accepting it, and it is not documented to reopen a YouTube event that has already ended.
“Astra Streaming” can refer to different products or deployments. The steps below apply to Cesbo Astra’s documented Streams API; confirm that this is your Astra product and that you have control permission before using them.
Restart the correct Cesbo Astra stream
Use the stream ID for the Astra output that sends to YouTube—not a channel name or YouTube event ID. Cesbo’s API documentation describes stream operations by stream ID and provides stream information for identifying stored configurations: Cesbo Astra Streams API.
- Find the configured stream ID and verify that the stream’s output is the YouTube connection you need to restore.
- Make sure the stream is enabled. The restart command does not enable a disabled stream.
- Send this request to your Astra control endpoint, substituting the actual ID:
POST /control/ Content-Type: application/json {"cmd":"restart-stream","id":"a001"}
For an enabled stream, Astra stops and starts it again using its stored configuration. The documented success response is {"restart-stream":"ok"}. An unknown ID returns an error. Restarting does not change the stored configuration or send a notification.

Keep the control endpoint protected and do not publish credentials, a real stream key, or an accessible control URL in screenshots or logs.
Verify Astra’s runtime status
Do not treat the command response as proof that the broadcast is visible. Use Astra’s documented check-stream operation for a running stream to inspect its runtime state. Check whether it reports onair, which input is active, and the latest analyzer sample for each input, including bitrate and error counters. - If the check reports the expected stream on air with a healthy active input, Astra is carrying a signal; move on to the YouTube event and ingest checks.
- If the stream is disabled or not running, the check can return “stream not found.” Confirm that you used the right ID and enabled the stream in its configuration before retrying.
- If the stream is running but the input is not on air or shows errors, investigate the source input and its analyzer status; restarting the output alone will not fix an unavailable or faulty input.
Check the YouTube connection and event
YouTube requires an encoder to use the event’s stream URL and stream key. In YouTube Live Control Room, confirm that the event is still available to receive an encoder feed, then check that Astra’s stored output uses the correct URL and current key. If the key was reset, update the encoder configuration with the new key. Treat the key as a secret. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance is in Go live with an encoder.
Also review the event’s auto-start and auto-stop settings in Live Control Room. Those settings affect whether encoder actions can start or stop streaming for the event. If YouTube shows the event as ended, do not assume another Astra restart will reopen it: Cesbo documents restarting Astra’s stream, not recovery of an ended YouTube broadcast.

If Astra restarted but YouTube is still offline
- Confirm the event state. Check Live Control Room to see whether YouTube is still accepting an encoder feed or the event has ended.
- Confirm the output details. Compare Astra’s configured YouTube stream URL and key with the current event’s ingest details; replace a key that was reset.
- Check Astra’s runtime status. Verify the stream is enabled and running, and inspect
onair, active input, bitrate, and error counters usingcheck-stream. - Review the event controls. Check YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings and the current state shown in Live Control Room.
- Retry only after correcting the cause. If the stream is enabled and the configuration is correct, issue the restart command again and recheck Astra and YouTube independently.
Astra’s command response, Astra’s runtime transport state, and YouTube’s event state answer different questions. You need all three checks to determine whether viewers can watch again.
