You can remove products from the visible Browsing History list and stop Amazon from recording new views. You cannot permanently delete an order from Amazon’s account system; where the option exists, Archive order only hides it from the default order view. Amazon also says some transaction data must be retained for legal, accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention reasons.
Use the section that matches what you want to change. Clearing shopping history does not erase orders, and clearing your browser does not change either record in your Amazon account.

Several lists can look like “Amazon history,” but they are controlled separately. Choosing the wrong one can leave the information you meant to hide untouched.

Review and remove products from Amazon Browsing History
Browsing History is the list of products you viewed while signed in to Amazon. The controls below are the ones described in Amazon staff guidance. Labels and page locations can differ by country, device, app release, or account layout, so look for equivalent wording if your screen is not identical.
Open the Browsing History page
- Sign in to the Amazon account whose viewed products you want to review.
- Open the account menu and choose Browsing History. On some layouts, the link appears under account or personalization settings rather than in the main navigation.
- Scroll through the products shown. The list is separate from Your Orders; an item can appear here even if you never bought it.
If you use the Amazon Shopping app and cannot find the link, open the account or profile area and search the available settings for “Browsing History.” Amazon can move this page between app versions. If the app does not expose the control, sign in through a mobile browser and open the account menu there.
Remove one viewed item
- On the Browsing History page, locate the product card.
- Select Remove from view beneath that item.
- Wait for the card to disappear before moving to the next item. Refreshing the page can confirm that it is no longer in the displayed list.
This removes the selected product from the Browsing History view. It does not cancel an order, change a recommendation immediately in every Amazon surface, or delete information Amazon may retain for other purposes.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesClear every item currently displayed
- Open Manage history on the Browsing History page.
- Choose Remove all items from view.
- Confirm if Amazon presents a confirmation prompt, then reload the page to check that the visible list is empty.
The command applies to the displayed Browsing History list. It is not the same as turning off future recording, so complete the next procedure if you do not want new views added.
Stop Amazon from recording future viewed products
- Return to Manage history.
- Find the Turn Browsing History on/off control.
- Switch it off and leave the setting saved. Reopen the page later if you want to verify the state.
Turning the feature off changes future collection for this Browsing History control; it does not automatically remove entries already shown. Clear existing entries separately if you want both outcomes.

If the list does not stay empty
- You cleared one device but still see items: confirm that you are signed in to the same Amazon account and that you used Remove all items from view, not only a browser-history command.
- New items appear after clearing: check whether Browsing History was turned off. Clearing and disabling are separate settings.
- A product still influences recommendations: recommendations can use more than the visible Browsing History list. Review Amazon’s recommendation-management controls rather than assuming one removal changes every personalized surface.
- The control is missing: try a current desktop or mobile browser, sign out and back in, and check the account or region-specific layout. Do not assume that an absent button means an order or account record was deleted.
Review your purchases in Your Orders
Your Orders is Amazon’s account area for placed orders. It is the correct place to inspect what you bought, open order details, track packages, request returns or replacements where eligible, edit or cancel an order when Amazon still permits it, and obtain invoices.
Find an order
- Sign in to the account used for the purchase.
- Open Your Orders from the account menu.
- Use the date-range selector, search field, or order filters to narrow the list.
- Select Order details for the address, payment summary, items, shipment information, invoice options, and available support actions.
Orders from different marketplaces or selling accounts can be separated by country site, account login, or order date. If an expected purchase is missing, verify the country-specific Amazon site and every account or email address you use before concluding that the record was removed.
Save information before changing anything
Download or print invoices and note order numbers before closing an account or losing access to a login. Amazon warns that account closure removes access to order history and invoices. A closed account is therefore a poor substitute for exporting records you may need for returns, warranties, tax documentation, or disputes.
Can an Amazon order be permanently deleted?
No universal permanent-delete control is established for Amazon orders. An Amazon staff forum answer posted in October 2025 states that customers cannot permanently delete orders. It describes Archive order as moving an order out of the default history view while keeping it available under Archived Orders.
When Archive order appears
If your account interface offers Archive order, open the order in Your Orders, choose the archive command, and confirm. The action changes the default presentation; it does not erase the transaction, invoice, delivery record, or other information Amazon is required or permitted to keep.

Manage lights, thermostats, and more using the display or your voice. With Omnisense technology, you can activate routines via temperature, presence, or visual ID detection.
- Crystal-clear video calls: Video calls feel natural on the vibrant 11" screen with a centered, auto-framing camera, 3.3x zoom, and noise reduction technology. Use live view to check in on your family, pets, and more while you're away.
Archive availability is not consistent. Customers in the same 2025 discussion reported that the option was no longer available to them. Treat it as account- and interface-dependent, not as a guaranteed US feature. Do not use unofficial URL tricks, browser extensions, or scripts that claim to delete orders; they cannot turn an archived or hidden view into verified data erasure and can expose your account credentials.

Finding archived orders where the feature exists
Amazon’s UK help guidance says archived orders can be found by searching or filtering by date range in Your Orders. That is UK-specific help guidance and does not establish that the same archive view or search path is currently available on the US site or in every other region. If your account has no archived-order filter, contact Amazon support through the signed-in help area rather than relying on a third-party workaround.
Choose the action that matches your goal
| Your goal | Use | Result | Reversible or retained? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remove a product you viewed from the visible list | Browsing History > Remove from view | One displayed item disappears | The visible-list change may be reversible only if the item is viewed again; other Amazon data may remain. |
| Empty the displayed viewed-product list | Browsing History > Manage history > Remove all items from view | Current displayed entries are cleared | It does not disable future recording or guarantee deletion of underlying service data. |
| Prevent new viewed products from being listed | Turn Browsing History on/off set to off | Future entries are not added to that history feature | Existing entries require a separate clear action; Amazon’s other personalization systems may use other signals. |
| Hide an order from the default list | Archive order, only if your account offers it | The order moves out of the standard order view | It remains accessible and is not permanent deletion. |
| Ask about account-level personal information | Data Privacy Queries, where applicable | Amazon receives a privacy access or deletion request | Amazon may deny or limit deletion where a legal retention exception applies. |
| Erase history stored on a shared device | That device’s browser history controls | Local pages, cookies, or history entries can be cleared according to the browser | It does not alter Amazon account history or orders. |
Submit a privacy request when you need account-level review
Amazon’s US privacy notice says that, where applicable law provides the right, customers can request access to or deletion of personal information through Data Privacy Queries. This route is different from removing a card from Browsing History or archiving an order.
What to include
- Identify the Amazon account and the email address or phone number associated with it.
- Describe the category of information involved, such as browsing activity, order-related personal information, or another account record.
- State whether you are requesting access, deletion, or clarification about retention.
- Keep the confirmation number and any response so you can follow up without submitting duplicate requests.
A privacy request is evaluated under the law and Amazon’s applicable exceptions. It is not a promise that every transaction record will be removed.
Account closure is not a guaranteed eraser
Closing an Amazon account removes your ability to sign in and access order history and invoices. Amazon’s account-closure guidance also says: “Note: Be advised that Amazon is legally required to retain some types of data, such as order history.” The stated reasons include legal, tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations.

Before requesting closure, export invoices and other records, resolve open returns or refunds, check subscriptions and digital purchases, and make sure you can reach any seller or payment provider without the account. Closure should be treated as loss of access to the account, not proof that every copy of every transaction has been destroyed.

Amazon Silk has its own local browsing-history feature. Silk’s FAQ says its history is stored on the device and can be viewed, searched, and cleared; Silk also offers Private Browsing. These controls cover pages recorded by the browser itself.
Use the browser controls for local privacy
- Open the browser’s history or privacy settings on the device.
- Review the pages listed and choose the clear-history command offered by that browser.
- Use Private Browsing for future sessions on a shared device when you do not want pages saved to the local history.
- Separately sign in to Amazon and manage Browsing History if you also want to change viewed-product entries in the account.
Deleting a Silk history entry will not remove an Amazon order, and removing a product from Amazon Browsing History will not clear a page saved in Silk, another browser, a router log, or a device backup.
Troubleshoot common situations
You want to hide a gift from someone who shares the account
Remove the product from the visible Browsing History list and, if available, archive the order. Neither action is a security boundary: someone with account access may still find the order through search, archived-order views, email, invoices, delivery notifications, or the payment account. Use a separate account for future private purchases and secure the current account with a unique password and two-step verification.
You returned an item and still see it
A return changes the order’s status; it does not automatically remove the order from Your Orders. Manage the viewed product separately if it remains in Browsing History.

You cleared the app but the desktop list remains
App cache and account history are different. Sign in to the same account in a browser, open Browsing History, and use the account-level remove or manage controls. Clearing an app’s local cache alone does not establish that Amazon’s list changed.
You cannot find an old invoice
Search Your Orders by a wider date range and confirm the correct marketplace and account. If you are considering account closure, save every invoice first because closure removes access to the order-history area.
You need evidence that data was deleted
A blank visible list demonstrates only that the current interface is not displaying those entries. For a broader personal-information question, submit a Data Privacy Queries request and keep Amazon’s response. Do not represent an empty page, an archive, or a closed account as proof that legally retained records no longer exist.
A practical privacy checklist
- Decide whether you mean viewed products, placed orders, account-level personal information, or local browser pages.
- Use Browsing History controls for viewed products and Your Orders for purchases.
- Clear existing viewed products and turn off future Browsing History recording as two separate steps.
- Assume an order remains retained even if Archive order is available.
- Check your region and account interface before relying on an archive path; the feature is not universal.
- Save invoices and order numbers before closing an account.
- Use Data Privacy Queries for an account-level request where applicable law provides that right.
- Clear shared-device browser history separately, and use Private Browsing for future local sessions.
- Never enter your Amazon password into an unofficial deletion tool or extension.
What these controls can and cannot accomplish
Amazon gives you meaningful control over what appears in the Browsing History list and whether that feature records new views. Your Orders remains the authoritative customer-facing area for purchases, but Amazon does not offer a general permanent-delete command for orders. Archiving, when present, changes visibility rather than the existence of the transaction. Privacy requests and account closure involve broader account data, yet legal retention requirements can still apply. Keeping those boundaries in mind prevents a cleared screen from being mistaken for complete erasure.
