Current route coverage identifies four romance arcs—Moros, Eris, Nemesis, and Icarus—and says you can pursue all four in one playthrough. Giving Nectar or other gifts to a character does not, by itself, make that character a romance option.
How romance progression works
Build each character’s bond through conversations and gifts when the opportunity arises. The current route guide names Nectar, Bath Salts, Twin Lures, and Ambrosia as relationship gifts, and says the Book of Shadows tracks relationship information. It also describes a heart-tipped arrow icon as a sign that later gift-driven interactions are on the romantic track; that is the guide’s explanation, not a published developer specification. Forging a bond is not always the final step. Each route has a separate scene trigger, and some depend on a character appearing at the Crossroads or during a run. If an eligible scene does not trigger on the first try, keep progressing and repeat the relevant activity or check the Crossroads on a later night.

How to romance Moros
- Perform the “Fated Intervention” Cauldron Incantation.
- Look for Moros at the Crossroads beside the Fated List, then build his relationship to its maximum and forge the bond.
- Die during a run in either the Underworld or on the surface. The guide says the concluding scene can trigger after the death.
A full relationship track alone does not complete this route; the run-ending event is the trigger described by the guide.
How to romance Eris
- Advance the story until you have first encountered Eris in the Rift of Thessaly.
- When she appears at the Crossroads, build the relationship to 14 hearts.
- Check for her on later Crossroads visits. When she appears with a heart icon above her head, speak with her to trigger the concluding scene.
Eris’s Crossroads appearances are random. If she is absent, continue a run and check again later; the guide does not give a guaranteed schedule.

How to romance Nemesis
- Talk with Nemesis at the Crossroads and build the relationship to its maximum, then forge the bond.
- Continue Underworld runs and watch for her challenge in a random enemy chamber between Erebus and the final chamber of Tartarus, before Chronos.
- Take the qualifying challenge encounter. If she does not appear or the scene fails to trigger, try again on a later run.
The guide does not establish a way to force the challenge into a particular chamber or run.

How to romance Icarus
- On the surface route, defeat Polyphemus and reach the Rift of Thessaly to make Icarus available.
- Improve the relationship at least 13 times. A subsequent conversation can teach the “Night Life for the Dead” incantation.
- Perform the incantation to obtain an Ectoplasmic Draught, then give the Draught to Icarus.
- Meet him at the Crossroads on another night. When the heart icon appears, speak with him to trigger the concluding scene.
Keep the steps in order: learn the incantation, perform it, give Icarus the resulting Draught, then speak with him on a later Crossroads visit.

What changed in later updates
Relationship content expanded after launch. In its June 17, 2025 announcement of the Unseen Update, Supergiant Games said it added optional story events to “Forge Bonds with a variety of characters.” The announcement confirms added bond content, but does not list romance routes or their requirements. Post-Launch Patch 2, dated April 14, 2026, says that most Crossroads characters can be given Bath Salts, Twin Lures, or Ambrosia indefinitely after forging a bond, in brief new scenes. It also says that characters with whom Melinoë can have non-platonic relations may occasionally show interest in continuing such relations. These notes were reproduced by SteamDB from Steam Community update notes; they do not change the four route triggers listed above. Read the reproduced Post-Launch Patch 2 notes.
