Spoilers: This guide covers main-story scenes and the final romance choice. To romance Hans Capon, choose his caring or heart-marked dialogue options throughout the campaign, make two easy-to-miss choices during The Italian Job, then choose to kiss him during Hunger and Despair. Hans’s final scene competes with Katherine’s, so choose Hans at that late opportunity if he is the relationship you want for Henry.
How Hans’s romance route works
Hans is Henry’s friend from the previous game, as described on the official Kingdom Come: Deliverance II page. His romance is a slow-burn route: respond with care when the relevant dialogue appears, and do not miss the optional conversations during The Italian Job. The final intimate scene is available during Hunger and Despair.

Choose the route dialogue in order
After For Whom the Bell Tolls
After completing the quest, speak with Hans while preparing to leave for Nebakov Fortress. Choose the heart-marked response “I care about you.”
After rescuing Hans in Taking French Leave
When you speak with him after the rescue, choose “We’ll manage it together.” Wording can differ between walkthroughs or localizations; prioritize the heart-marked option in your game if its text varies.

Before the assault in The Italian Job
Once you have rescued the nobles and reached the minting area or treasury, find Hans on the battlements near Jan Žižka. Talk to Hans before speaking with Žižka; talking to Žižka advances this mission segment. Choose these responses in order:
- “We spend too little time together.”
- “Will you come through the underground with us.”
- Heart-marked: “I’m more concerned about you.”
In the tunnels during The Italian Job
After the battle and underground cutscene, speak to the other characters, but do not climb the ladder yet. Look for Hans in one of the smaller crypts and select:
- “You overcame your fear.”
- “So you’re alright?” or “The important thing is that you are alright.”
- Heart-marked: “I care about you.”
Insider Gaming also recommends taking Hans’s heart responses and helping with his side objectives when possible, citing getting food for him in Suchdol as an example. Treat that as additional route care, not a replacement for the specific conversations above.
Choose Hans in Hunger and Despair
Before Henry leaves on the dangerous mission, speak with Hans in his bedroom. Listen to his story about Lancelot, Galahad, and the Black Knight. When prompted, choose the reply that connects the knights or their story to Henry and Hans, then select “Kiss him.”
