For a straightforward 24/7 broadcast, put your regional-language audio or video files in an OBS Studio VLC Video Source, arrange them in the order you want, and enable Loop Playlist. That repeats one list; it does not schedule a Tamil playlist for one time of day and a Telugu playlist for another. For time-based language changes, you need a separate scheduling method, which the OBS controls described here do not establish.
First decide what “rotate” means
A YouTube watch playlist and a live broadcast are different things. A watch playlist is a sequence viewers can play on YouTube; it is not, by itself, the continuous live feed described in YouTube’s encoder setup. In this workflow, an encoder sends media continuously to a YouTube Live stream, and OBS supplies the media.
- Repeat one sequence: Put language groups in the desired order in one media list, then loop it. For example, arrange a block of Kannada tracks, followed by Malayalam and Hindi files. The sequence repeats as a whole.
- Randomize one sequence: Enable shuffle if an unpredictable order is acceptable. Do not use it if viewers need a predictable language sequence.
- Switch languages at set times: A static list with loop or shuffle controls does not establish a clock-based schedule. The documented controls here do not show how to switch playlists automatically at specified hours; verify a separate automation solution before relying on it.
Use only files you have the right to broadcast. The order of playback does not change the rights required for the material.
Prepare the media and OBS playlist
- Organize your cleared files. Put the audio or video files you intend to broadcast in a clearly named folder. If you want a repeatable sequence, name or sort them so the intended order is unambiguous. Keep a separate note of the language and rights status for each item.
- Install VLC and OBS Studio. OBS’s VLC Video Source depends on VLC being installed. OBS documentation specifies that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. Check that the installed versions match before troubleshooting a missing or unavailable source.
- Add the media source in OBS. In the scene you will use for the broadcast, add a VLC Video Source and add the files to its playlist in the desired order. The source can play a list of media files; it is not a YouTube watch playlist.
- Choose loop or shuffle. Turn on Loop Playlist to repeat the list. Leave shuffle off for a stable sequence; turn it on only if randomized ordering is what you want. Confirm the controls in your installed OBS version, since interface details may change.
- Check what viewers will see and hear. Make sure the scene presents the intended video or artwork, and that audio is audible without clipping or unintended silence. Preview transitions between files, including the end of the list returning to its start.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Confirm channel eligibility. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements include a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Check the channel’s current status in YouTube Studio before planning a launch.
- Create the live stream in YouTube Studio. Set up the broadcast there and use the stream key and connection details provided for the encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, include it in a public recording, or share it with anyone who should not control the stream.
- Enter the key in OBS’s streaming settings. Select YouTube as the service where available, then enter the key for the stream you created. If OBS offers a connection flow that does not require pasting a key, follow the current on-screen instructions instead. Do not reuse or expose a key carelessly.
- Preview before going live. Start the encoder and confirm that YouTube receives the feed in its preview. Check the title, visibility, picture, sound, and the order of the first few files before starting the public broadcast.
- Verify the viewer experience. Open the channel or watch page and check the stream on a mobile device as well as the encoder preview. Continue monitoring audio and video while it runs.
These checks test the path from OBS to YouTube; they cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation for a computer, power supply, internet connection, encoder, or platform.

Protect the broadcast from rights interruptions
YouTube’s live-stream terms make the provider responsible for having the rights needed to exploit the live content worldwide, including relevant music rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other rights participants, and for meeting applicable legal and regulatory requirements. A recording that you own, or music available to you through a personal listening service, is not automatically cleared for rebroadcast.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the live picture, interrupt the stream, or terminate it if the issue continues or a strike is issued. Even licensed material can be interrupted if the rights owner has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist.

- Confirm that you have the necessary permissions for both the recording and the underlying composition, for the territories and type of use you intend.
- Ask the relevant rights holder whether your channel needs to be added to a Content ID allowlist, and confirm that this has been done when applicable.
- Apply the same checks to every language block and every file. A playlist assembled from several catalogs may involve different rights holders.
The general platform guidance does not settle which licenses, collecting societies, or clearances apply to a particular Indian-language catalog. That depends on the works, rights holders, territories, and intended use; confirm the requirements with the relevant rights holders or a qualified adviser.
Plan for bandwidth, monitoring, and archives
Leave upload headroom
YouTube’s streaming tips recommend keeping upload bandwidth headroom of 20% and considering the combined bitrates of primary and backup encoders. Network disruption can break a stream. Check the bitrate you actually send and the available upload capacity rather than assuming a connection’s advertised maximum is consistently available.

Test and monitor the stream
Before making the broadcast public, test the encoder, confirm the feed appears on the channel and watch page, check it on a mobile device, and monitor both audio and video. YouTube’s tips also describe testing failover with a backup encoder. A backup only helps if it is configured and tested; it does not remove the need to watch for problems.
Keep your own recording
YouTube says it can automatically archive a stream shorter than 12 hours, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the broadcast matters, record it locally and verify that the recording is being saved and that you have enough storage.

Common problems and what to check
- The VLC Video Source is unavailable: Confirm VLC is installed and that its architecture matches OBS. In particular, 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- The list stops instead of repeating: Reopen the VLC Video Source controls and check that Loop Playlist is enabled. Test the end of the list before relying on it for a long broadcast.
- Files play in the wrong order: Reorder them in the source playlist and turn shuffle off. Check the full sequence, including the transition from the last item back to the first.
- The stream does not appear in YouTube’s preview: Check that the correct live event and stream key are being used, OBS is connected, and the channel can livestream. Confirm the encoder is sending rather than merely previewing locally.
- Viewers report silence, poor audio, or a missing picture: Check the OBS scene, source visibility, audio levels, and transitions between files, then verify the viewer-facing page on another device.
- The stream disconnects or becomes unstable: Check the network and available upload bandwidth, leave the recommended headroom, and test a configured backup encoder if continuity is important. A local computer and connection remain potential failure points in this setup.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast: Check YouTube’s notices and the rights status of the matched material. Contact the rights holder about permissions and Content ID allowlisting where appropriate; changing playlist order does not resolve a rights claim.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the cloud loops the media, so no computer or home internet connection has to stay on. It is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. The available facts establish looping and playlists, not time-of-day scheduling between language blocks, so do not assume it will switch languages by clock time.
- Nothing has to stay on at home.
- Any quality up to 4K 60fps is streamed as uploaded at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free, with no card required.
Monthly pricing: $9.99 per month. In India, UPI works; cards are also supported there, and card checkout is available worldwide. See StreamNeo for details, or start the free first day.
