To rotate prerecorded videos on a 24/7 YouTube channel, send a live feed from a playlist through an encoder: use software on a computer, a dedicated hardware encoder, or a cloud playout service. YouTube provides the live-stream connection and controls, but the encoder or service—not YouTube Studio—sets the playlist order and repeat behavior. For a local setup, the computer, power, and internet connection must stay available while it runs.
What you need before setting up rotation
Prepare a library of videos you own or have permission to use, a playback and encoding method, and access to the channel’s YouTube Studio. Your chosen encoder must support the playlist behavior you want, such as playing files in order and repeating them. YouTube’s documentation explains how to connect an encoder, but does not prescribe one universal playlist workflow.
Check live-stream eligibility first
YouTube says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. Initial activation may take up to 24 hours, so allow time before a planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
Choose a playback and encoding setup

YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers software and hardware encoders. These approaches have different operational trade-offs; the available guidance does not establish one as universally cheaper or more reliable.

Set up a rotating live stream in YouTube Studio
- Prepare the files and playlist in your chosen encoder. Add the videos in the intended order and select the encoder’s repeat or looping option. Verify how it handles the end of a clip, the end of the list, and a temporary disconnection; those behaviors vary by encoder.
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one for later. Scheduling creates an upcoming stream that you can promote and may let viewers opt in to reminders. Use YouTube’s stream settings guidance for the available controls.
- Copy the YouTube stream URL and key into the encoder. The URL tells the encoder where to send the feed; the key authenticates it. Treat the key as a secret. If someone unauthorized gets it, reset the key in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Check the encoder’s playback and connection settings. Confirm the playlist order, repeat behavior, and output settings in the encoder you selected. YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop options control when a stream starts or stops from the encoder; they do not build or rotate a video playlist.
- Start the encoder and inspect Live Control Room. Confirm that YouTube is receiving the feed and check stream health. Keep the local computer and connection running for as long as the local encoder is responsible for playback and transmission.
Plan around stream interruptions and archives
Recovery is a separate capability
A playlist’s loop setting does not necessarily restart the encoder or reconnect it after a network or YouTube interruption. Check the selected software or provider’s documented recovery behavior and decide how you will notice an outage. YouTube’s stream controls do not promise that a particular playlist will resume automatically after a disconnect.
Do not rely on one complete 24/7 archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that a single continuous 24/7 broadcast will produce a complete archive. If you need recordings, plan separate recordings or periodic stream restarts, and confirm current YouTube behavior before relying on the archive. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

Copyright and monetization for Indian channels
Looping a video continuously does not guarantee monetization. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams, and monetized content is expected to be original and authentic. Its July 15, 2025 policy notice renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced material is included; YouTube said this type of content “has always been ineligible for monetization under our existing policies, where creators are rewarded for original and authentic content.” That clarification does not decide the status of every individual 24/7 stream.
Reused content is a separate, channel-level assessment. Significant original commentary, substantive modification, or added entertainment or educational value can matter; permission to use material alone does not settle that assessment. Copyright rules still apply, so use work you created or are authorized to stream and consider the context of the whole channel. Read YouTube’s monetization policies.

For creators in India, YouTube says you must apply to and be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) to earn through YouTube. Ads, Premium revenue, Shopping, memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers are among possible features, subject to eligibility and channel status; a 24/7 stream does not guarantee a particular income or feature. Troubleshoot common rotation problems
