You can run a Hindi bhajan stream from Ubuntu by sending a playlist or other continuous program through an encoder to YouTube Live. First confirm the channel is eligible to stream, clear the music rights, and configure the encoder and network for a stable broadcast. A 24-hour transmission also needs planning: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, so do not rely on one continuous day-long broadcast to produce a single replay.
Before you set up the Ubuntu computer
Confirm the channel can go live
Verify the YouTube channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours, so do it well before the planned start. YouTube also says streamers must be at least 16. These requirements apply regardless of whether the encoder runs on Ubuntu.
Clear the rights to every recording
You are responsible for having the rights needed to stream and, if applicable, archive the material. YouTube’s livestream terms include music rights involving artists, record labels, publishers, public-performance licensing and other royalty participants. A bhajan’s devotional, traditional or religious subject does not make a particular recording or arrangement free to use. Buying an audio file does not by itself establish permission for livestreaming; check that the applicable license covers live use and any archive you intend to keep.
YouTube lists an active live-stream copyright strike and matching another copyrighted live broadcast among reasons live-streaming ability may be restricted. Resolve rights questions before building a long-running channel around a track.

Prepare the bhajan program on Ubuntu
Organize a continuous playlist
Gather the audio or video files you are entitled to use and arrange them into a repeatable program. Check transitions, volume differences and any long silences before going live. Your encoder must receive a continuous audio/video feed; a prepared playlist is one way to provide it. Keep a copy of the playlist order and source files so you can recover the program if the computer or encoder stops.
Choose an encoder, but verify Ubuntu installation steps
An encoder sends the live feed to YouTube. OBS Studio and FFmpeg are common examples, but the YouTube guidance cited here does not establish current Ubuntu package commands, supported Ubuntu releases, encoder versions or a tested unattended-restart configuration. Use the current installation instructions for the encoder and Ubuntu release you actually have; do not rely on an old command copied from an unrelated guide. The settings below are YouTube’s platform-side guidance, not a claim that a particular Ubuntu setup has been tested.

Configure the YouTube stream and encoder
- Create or prepare the live stream in YouTube: use YouTube’s live-streaming workflow to obtain the stream URL and stream key. Enter those values in the encoder’s streaming destination settings. Treat the key like a password: do not post it, include it in screenshots or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube before continuing.
- Select the transport and video codec: YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265/HEVC or AV1 video; it recommends RTMPS. Pick a codec supported by your encoder and hardware, and use a bitrate appropriate to that codec, resolution and frame rate.
- Set rate control and keyframes: use constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube recommends that interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Set audio encoding: YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio. Confirm that the encoder is actually sending audio and that the selected input is your bhajan program, not an inactive device.
- Choose resolution and bitrate together: YouTube’s H.264 examples recommend 3 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps and 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. Those are examples for those specific settings, not universal bitrates; YouTube’s table varies with codec, resolution and frame rate. Higher resolution or frame rate generally requires more upload capacity and encoder resources, so use a setting your connection and computer can sustain.
Allow enough upload capacity and keep the Ubuntu host awake
YouTube recommends available upload bandwidth exceeding the stream’s total bitrate by 20%. Count the complete stream, including audio, rather than only the video bitrate. The connection’s available capacity can also fall when other people or devices share it. Test the upload connection at the location and time you plan to stream, and avoid relying on a speed-test result from a different network or quiet period. A wired connection is a reasonable way to reduce dependence on Wi-Fi, but it cannot guarantee that the internet connection will stay up.
For a computer-based broadcast, make sure Ubuntu does not suspend or shut down the machine during the stream, and keep the encoder running. Exact power-setting labels depend on the Ubuntu release and desktop environment. A local computer still depends on its power, network and software remaining operational; a connectivity disruption can break the broadcast.

Test the stream before making it a 24/7 channel
- Start with a rehearsal: set up the encoder and send a private or otherwise suitable test before announcing the channel. Check that the selected stream key and destination connect successfully.
- Use YouTube’s preview and stream-health feedback: inspect the Live Control Room preview before relying on the broadcast. Check that the event is available on the channel or watch page and on a mobile device.
- Listen as well as watch: confirm that the bhajan audio is present, clear and at a consistent level, and that the video is not frozen or dropping out. Keep monitoring after launch; a successful connection at the start does not prove it will remain healthy.
- Plan recovery: decide who will notice a failure and how the encoder will be restarted or reconnected. If you use a backup encoder, test the failover in advance. YouTube’s event guidance recommends testing backup encoders; it does not provide a turnkey 24/7 Ubuntu restart architecture.
Plan around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A single uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast is longer than that stated threshold, so do not promise viewers that YouTube will automatically save it as one replay. If replay access matters, consider dividing the schedule into shorter broadcasts that remain under 12 hours, or maintain a separate recording and archive workflow. Confirm the resulting replay is available before treating it as your only copy.

Running the encoder on Ubuntu gives you direct control over the software and program, but the computer, power and internet connection at that location all become part of keeping the stream alive. With any local setup, test the complete path and have a recovery plan rather than assuming a playlist will restart itself after a failure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a bhajan recording just because it is traditional?
No. The age or devotional subject of a composition does not establish rights to a particular recording, arrangement or performance. Check the rights for the specific material and the uses you plan.
Does Ubuntu itself make a YouTube stream 24/7?
No. Ubuntu is the host operating system; an encoder and a continuous program are still needed, and a local broadcast depends on the host and its connection staying available.
