You can run a 24/7 lo-fi radio stream on YouTube by sending a continuously playing playlist through a live-stream encoder—or by using a cloud service that plays uploaded videos. Before you start, verify your channel, clear the music and visuals for live and replay use, and plan for interruptions: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a 24/7 broadcast is not guaranteed to become a complete YouTube archive.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified and eligible to live stream. YouTube says channels must have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Check the current channel status and setup steps in YouTube’s live-streaming guide.
- A playlist of audio and visuals you are entitled to use for continuous live broadcasts on YouTube. Confirm that the rights also cover any replay or local recording you intend to keep.
- Either a local encoder workflow, such as OBS, or a cloud service that can play uploaded videos to YouTube. YouTube supports encoder streaming; OBS’s official guidance is at OBS Help.
- Your YouTube stream key, handled as a password. Anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel.
YouTube’s cited setup guidance does not establish a particular computer specification, bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or OBS playlist configuration for this use case. Use the encoder’s current settings guidance and YouTube Studio’s stream-health feedback rather than treating a guessed preset as a universal requirement.
Choose how to keep the playlist running
Local encoder
With a local encoder, your computer runs the playback and sends the live signal to YouTube. You control the playlist and encoding workflow, but the computer, encoder, and internet connection must keep operating. A shutdown, software crash, or lost connection can stop the broadcast. OBS provides general streaming help, but the available source does not prescribe a specific playlist-loop setup.
Cloud playback
A cloud service can play uploaded videos without requiring your home computer to run continuously. It is a separate operational choice from a local encoder; you still need to confirm that the music and visuals are cleared for your channel and intended uses.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up a local playlist stream
- Check YouTube eligibility. In YouTube Studio, confirm live streaming is available for the channel and that there is no restriction from the prior 90 days. Follow YouTube’s current encoder streaming setup instructions.
- Prepare the program. Assemble the tracks and visuals you have permission to broadcast. Decide how the playlist will repeat in your chosen playback or encoder workflow; a specific OBS playlist configuration is not established by the cited guidance, so verify the behavior before relying on it overnight.
- Connect the encoder to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream using the encoder option, then copy the stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Keep the key private. Use the current YouTube and encoder instructions for the exact interface labels, which may change.
- Check the outgoing stream. Start the encoder and inspect YouTube Studio for the incoming signal and any stream-health warnings before making the broadcast public. Confirm the playlist continues beyond one cycle and that the audio and visuals remain as intended.
- Monitor rights warnings and interruptions. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can result in a placeholder, warning, interruption, or termination. If you have a licence for third-party music, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a licence alone may not stop an automated interruption. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
- Plan a separate replay backup if needed. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends a local recording as a backup. Do not assume a 24/7 transmission will produce a complete YouTube replay; see Archive live streams.
Clear music rights for live and replay use
You are responsible for having the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights. YouTube’s live-stream terms place that responsibility on the provider. A track being described as “royalty-free,” found online, or permitted for an ordinary upload does not by itself establish that it is cleared for continuous live streaming, worldwide viewers, or an archived replay.
Check the licence for the specific uses you plan: live broadcast on YouTube, the territories covered, continuous or repeated playback, and any retained recording. Include visual material in that check, not just the music. If a rights owner has licensed material for your stream, coordinate the Content ID allowlist before going live so that YouTube’s scanning does not interrupt a properly licensed broadcast.

Understand archive and monetization limits
A 24-hour stream is not a guaranteed 24-hour archive
YouTube’s archive guidance says broadcasts exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a replay matters, arrange an independent recording or archive workflow and test that it can run for the required duration; the cited YouTube guidance recommends a local recording backup.
Permission does not guarantee monetization eligibility
YouTube applies its channel monetization policies to live streams. Its policy page, updated July 15, 2025, says repetitive or mass-produced content can be ineligible under its inauthentic-content policy. The reused-content rules also identify collections of songs from different artists as material that may not qualify even when the creator has permission. Copyright clearance and monetization eligibility are separate questions; read YouTube’s monetization policies.

Those features do not establish that a playlist stream will qualify for monetization or earn a particular amount. YouTube describes earning features at How to earn money on YouTube.
Troubleshoot common problems
| What you see | Likely issue | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube Studio does not receive a signal | The encoder is not sending, or the stream key or connection settings are wrong. | Confirm live streaming is enabled, recheck the stream key in YouTube Studio and the encoder, and restart the encoder connection. Keep the key private. |
| The broadcast is interrupted after a copyright warning | YouTube detected third-party content; the channel may not be allowlisted even if a licence exists. | Review YouTube’s copyright guidance and ask the rights holder to allowlist the channel. Do not resume with the same material until the rights and detection issue are resolved. |
| The playlist stops or repeats incorrectly | The local playback or encoder workflow may not be configured to loop as intended. | Test the complete playlist cycle before going live and confirm the repeat behavior in the software you use. The cited OBS help does not establish one universal playlist configuration. |
| The YouTube replay is missing or incomplete | A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive. | Use a separate recording workflow if a replay is essential, and check that the recording was saved successfully. |
| The stream runs but monetization is unavailable | Copyright permission and YouTube monetization eligibility are different; repetitive or reused material may not qualify. | Review the channel’s status and YouTube’s current monetization policies; do not assume a licensed playlist is automatically eligible. |
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps a YouTube stream running from uploaded videos, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops in the cloud and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Your uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot rather than quality tiers. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not broadcast a camera feed. You remain responsible for music and visual rights, and cloud playback does not guarantee a YouTube archive or monetization eligibility.
