You can run a continuous prerecorded YouTube stream from a mini PC in India by using OBS Studio to loop local video and send it to YouTube over RTMPS. The setup is practical only if the mini PC, network connection, and power remain available; test the exact machine and connection at your intended resolution before leaving it unattended. No official source cited here validates a particular low-cost mini PC, its India price, or its ability to encode continuously.
What you need to check before choosing a mini PC
OBS and YouTube documentation explain the streaming setup, but do not specify a minimum mini PC configuration. Evaluate the exact model rather than buying by price or processor label alone. In particular, check its CPU and integrated graphics generation and codec support, memory, storage, cooling under sustained load, ports, warranty, and local price. Confirm its streaming and idle power draw from a reliable measurement or specification before estimating electricity cost.
For a local setup, the computer running OBS, the network path, and power all need to stay available. Ethernet or a UPS may suit your installation, but neither is mandatory in the cited guidance; UPS capacity should be chosen from measured load and desired runtime. Verify upload stability where the PC will be installed. A broadband plan’s advertised speed does not establish that it will sustain a stream without interruption.

Install OBS and configure it
Install OBS Studio on a supported computer, then open Tools > Auto-Configuration Wizard. OBS says the wizard considers the intended use, computer hardware, and network conditions. Its result is a starting point, not proof that a mini PC can encode reliably around the clock.

Add a video file or playlist
For one prerecorded video, add an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. For multiple files, add a VLC Video Source and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for that source; if you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.

Check the scene and audio
Confirm the video appears as intended and watch OBS’s audio meters while the content plays. Test the selected scene and stream for a few minutes before launch, as OBS recommends. This can reveal basic source, audio, and encoder problems, but does not establish 24/7 reliability.

Set the YouTube stream output
In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and use its stream key in OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it if exposed. YouTube’s encoder guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion and recommends encrypted RTMPS. Select the intended resolution and frame rate, use CBR, and set a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. Its listed audio formats include AAC and MP3.

Choose a bitrate and test the actual connection
YouTube’s current encoder settings page, accessed in 2026, gives these recommended H.264 video bitrates. They are encoder recommendations, not a guarantee that an Indian household connection can sustain the stream:

Output YouTube recommended H.264 bitrate 720p at 30 fps 3 Mbps 720p at 60 fps 8 Mbps 1080p at 30 fps 10 Mbps 1080p at 60 fps 17 Mbps Run a speed test and assess stability under realistic network use, with other household traffic considered. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate, using representative audio and movement, and monitoring stream health. Start with settings the connection and machine can handle consistently rather than selecting the highest output by default.

Enable reconnect and monitor the stream
In OBS’s Settings > Advanced, configure automatic reconnect. This can help when a connection drops, but it cannot guarantee recovery from every computer, power, ISP, or YouTube failure. Watch YouTube’s stream health during the test and check that OBS resumes sending after a brief interruption.

Plan around YouTube’s archive limit
A continuous broadcast is not the same as a complete saved video. YouTube says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours long, YouTube can automatically archive it for you,” and warns that “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” YouTube also says DVR capabilities may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. If a complete archive or viewer rewind matters, keep a local recording as backup and consider shorter broadcasts if your channel’s operation allows them.
Copyright and channel-content checks
Before looping a recording, make sure you have the rights needed to stream its video and audio on YouTube. A 24/7 schedule does not change the rights status of music, game footage, or other material. Check YouTube’s live-stream policies and your permissions for every source, and do not assume that a video available to watch or download can be rebroadcast. Repeating the same content also does not guarantee monetization: YouTube evaluates channel content under its monetization policies. Review the current rules in YouTube Studio before building a channel around a loop.

What a mini PC stream will cost to run
The total cost includes the mini PC, ongoing electricity, and an internet connection capable of sustaining the chosen output. No current India mini PC market price, electricity tariff, broadband price, or national outage statistic is established here, so a reliable rupee estimate would depend on your location and exact hardware. Measure the PC and router’s draw, apply your electricity tariff, and check upload performance at the installation address before committing.
A local PC gives you direct control of the files and OBS scenes, but it also depends on your own hardware, power, and network. A hosted option shifts those local dependencies to a service provider and adds a recurring fee. Compare measured encoding capability, recovery and monitoring, source control, and archive needs along with upfront versus recurring cost; no third-party cloud service is assessed here.
Common problems and fixes
- YouTube reports unstable stream health: Reduce output resolution, frame rate, or bitrate to a level the connection can sustain, then retest with representative content. Check upload stability at the PC’s location and avoid judging by a single speed-test peak.
- The stream has no sound: Check that the source has audio, the correct OBS audio device or source is active, and the audio meters move during playback. Test the stream before leaving it running.
- The playlist does not advance or loop: For one file, confirm Loop is enabled on the Media Source. For a playlist, verify VLC is installed and that its architecture matches OBS (64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC), then check Loop Playlist.
- OBS does not reconnect after a drop: Confirm automatic reconnect is configured in Settings > Advanced, then test a short interruption. Reconnect cannot restore service if the PC has lost power, the network remains unavailable, or YouTube has a problem.
- The mini PC struggles during sustained streaming: Lower the output settings and test again while monitoring the machine. A brief successful test does not establish sustained thermal or encoding performance; verify the exact model under the workload you intend to run.
- The live broadcast is not fully available as a replay: Streams over 12 hours may not be captured at all, and DVR may be limited or unavailable. Keep a local recording and plan shorter broadcasts if a complete replay is essential.
