You can run recorded cricket highlights as a continuous YouTube Live feed with an encoder or a cloud streaming service—but first, make sure you have rights for continuous live transmission and resolve Content ID handling with the rights holder. Then enable YouTube Live, create an encoder stream in Live Control Room, connect the stream URL and key, test the feed, and plan separately for monitoring and archiving. A 24-hour broadcast should not be assumed to produce one complete YouTube archive.
1. Clear the highlights and every included element
Before uploading footage or testing a public stream, identify who controls each highlight package and each included element: match footage, commentary, music, graphics, and other broadcast material. Get written permission covering continuous live transmission, the territories where you intend to make the stream available, and any saved copy you plan to retain or publish. YouTube’s Live Stream Terms put responsibility for the necessary rights on the person providing the live content, including music rights: YouTube Livestream terms and conditions.
Permission alone may not prevent an interruption. YouTube says that if you have licensed third-party content, you should ask its owner to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist: Copyright issues with live streams. Arrange this before testing. A stream can be interrupted when Content ID detects material even if you hold a license but the channel has not been allowlisted. This is practical guidance, not legal advice; the applicable rights depend on the footage, license, territories, and intended use.
2. Choose how the feed will run continuously
YouTube supports encoder software and standalone hardware encoders, and its encoder setup guide lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded streaming. The operating differences are mainly where the feed runs and what you must maintain. YouTube’s listing is a category example, not an endorsement or a statement about a provider’s current price or reliability.

| StreamNeo | Cloud service | You provide rights-cleared uploaded videos, configure the YouTube stream key, and monitor your channel. | StreamNeo loops uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud; your computer does not need to stay on. It supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and the first day is free with no card. |
| Software encoder on a computer | Your computer | You maintain the software, computer, power, network, and feed. | YouTube supports encoder software; its cited guide does not recommend a specific program or state current prices. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | A dedicated device | You maintain the device, network, and feed; setup or control may still require a computer, depending on the model. | YouTube supports standalone hardware encoders; the cited material does not establish model-level performance, price, or endorsement. |
| Other cloud continuous-stream service | The provider’s service | The provider operates its platform; you still own the rights, channel setup, and monitoring responsibilities. | YouTube’s guide lists Gyre as an example. The cited material does not establish its current pricing, uptime terms, or commercial suitability. |
YouTube’s guide does not benchmark these approaches on cost or uptime. Choose based on whether you can keep local equipment and internet available, who will monitor interruptions, whether you need a separate archive, and what current service terms provide. For a software or hardware setup, select an encoder compatible with YouTube Live and capable of sending your chosen video format and bitrate.
3. Enable YouTube Live and create the encoder stream
- Check channel eligibility. Verify the channel and confirm it has no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube’s eligibility guidance is at Get started with live streaming.
- Enable live streaming early. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this before your planned launch rather than just before it.
- Open Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream and choose the encoder workflow. YouTube’s encoder setup steps are at Set up your encoder for live streaming.
- Copy the stream URL and key into your encoder. Treat the key as a credential: YouTube describes it as the password and address that allow the encoder to send the feed. Do not share it publicly. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder.
4. Configure the encoder and test before launch
Use RTMPS where supported; YouTube recommends it because it encrypts the connection to YouTube’s servers. In the encoder, use constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. Set the bitrate according to YouTube’s current resolution-specific guidance rather than assuming one value fits every output: Encoder settings for live stream and Recommended live encoder settings.

- Load the rights-cleared highlights or playlist into your encoder or streaming service.
- Enter YouTube’s stream URL and key, then match the output resolution and frame rate to your source and the encoder’s supported settings.
- Connect the encoder and wait for the preview to appear in Live Control Room.
- Check picture, sound, stream health, and playback on a separate device. Use an unlisted test if appropriate before making the stream public.
- Confirm that the stream is reachable from the intended channel or watch page before treating the setup as ready.
5. Keep the stream healthy and prepare for interruption
YouTube recommends maintaining upload capacity at least 20% above the combined bitrate of the stream. Check the audio and video continuously, not only at launch. A feed that begins correctly can still fail later because of a network drop, host shutdown, encoder error, or rights-related interruption.
- Leave network headroom. Compare available, sustained upload bandwidth with the stream’s total bitrate and retain YouTube’s recommended 20% margin.
- Monitor the actual output. Check the live player and audio periodically or continuously through the full operating period.
- Test failover. If you have a backup encoder, deliberately stop the primary during a controlled test and verify that the player rolls over as intended.
- Check recordings. If you are recording locally, verify that files open and contain the expected audio and video; do not assume that an active live stream guarantees a usable local copy.
- Keep rights handling active. If a licensed highlight is interrupted, check the Content ID allowlist status with the owner rather than repeatedly restarting the same un-cleared feed.
6. Treat archiving as a separate requirement
YouTube’s encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A continuous 24/7 broadcast exceeds that stated duration, so do not promise viewers or stakeholders a single complete archived video. If you need a complete record, arrange local recording or divide the broadcast into scheduled segments, confirm that your rights cover the saved material, and verify YouTube’s current archive behavior before depending on it. See Archive live streams.

Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for looping uploaded videos; it does not stream from a camera. Upload your rights-cleared recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer can stay off, the video streams as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. One slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, and support from the StreamNeo team. The first day is free with no card; the same features apply on each plan, with only the billing period changing. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
