If a prerecorded yoga video goes black at the loop point, first check the playback control on the OBS source that feeds the stream: a single file uses Loop on a Media Source, while a playlist uses Loop Playlist on a VLC Video source. Then compare OBS, a local recording, YouTube’s Live Control Room preview, and the watch page to find where the picture disappears. The symptom alone does not identify the cause; it could be source playback, visibility, encoding, or delivery.
Check the OBS source that plays the video
A viewer-side YouTube repeat control is not what loops a prerecorded video being sent as a live stream. The encoder software is playing that video, so check the source in OBS that actually feeds the scene.
For one video file
- In OBS, select the scene used for the stream and identify the source containing the yoga video.
- Open that source’s properties and confirm it is a Media Source pointing to the intended file.
- Enable Loop. OBS describes this setting as specifying whether the file plays again once playback has completed. See the OBS Project’s Media Sources reference.
- Test the source through the end of the file and into its next start. Do not assume a checked box alone confirms the scene is outputting the intended picture.
For a playlist
- If the source is a playlist, check that it is a VLC Video source rather than a single-file Media Source.
- Enable Loop Playlist in that source’s properties and test across the end of one item and the start of the next.
OBS says VLC must be installed for its VLC Video source type to be available. The two loop controls apply to different source types; changing the single-file setting will not configure a VLC playlist. Details are in the OBS Project’s VLC Video Source reference.
Inspect playback-end and visibility settings
In the Media Source properties, check Show nothing when playback ends. OBS documents that this option hides the source after the file finishes. If that behavior is enabled, it may explain why the source disappears at the end rather than showing the next expected picture. It is a diagnostic clue, not a guaranteed fix for every black screen.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Also confirm that the source and its scene remain visible and active at the loop boundary. If the source goes black in OBS itself, focus on the selected file, source settings, and scene before changing YouTube settings.

| What you see | Where to investigate next |
|---|---|
| The source or scene is black in OBS preview | Check the media source, file, loop control, playback-end behavior, and scene visibility. |
| OBS preview looks right, but a local recording is black | Check OBS output and encoder behavior. Review the recording around the loop boundary. |
| OBS and the local recording look right, but YouTube’s incoming preview is black | Check Live Control Room stream-health messages, encoder errors, and the outgoing connection. |
| YouTube’s incoming preview looks right, but the watch page is black | Compare the live output and viewer-facing page, then check YouTube stream health and delivery. The difference points away from the OBS source but does not establish a single cause. |
YouTube’s Troubleshooting live stream issues advises checking the encoder’s output, encoder errors, CPU load, and local archive. If the encoder’s own view is healthy, YouTube says an outbound-connection issue may be involved.
Check YouTube preview, stream health, and format
- Before a scheduled stream, run a test and let it cross the loop boundary. YouTube advises testing before an event and monitoring audio and video quality during the stream.
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, wait for the incoming stream preview and check the stream-health messages before going live. YouTube’s encoder setup guide says to wait for the preview, then click Go live.
- If YouTube reports a supported stream-format error, check the encoder output format. YouTube identifies H.264 video and AAC audio as the expected formats in its live-stream troubleshooting guidance.
- Review the encoder’s CPU load and errors while the stream crosses the loop point. If OBS output is already black, YouTube’s preview cannot repair the source problem; if OBS output is healthy, continue with connection and stream-health checks.
Check upload bandwidth if the outgoing stream is affected
If the local output looks correct but YouTube’s incoming preview or stream is disrupted, check the connection used by the encoder. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom in its streaming tips. Treat that as guidance for diagnosing upload capacity, not proof that the network caused a black screen timed exactly to a loop.

Common symptoms and next checks
- Black screen begins exactly when the file ends: verify the correct source type and its loop setting; inspect whether Show nothing when playback ends is enabled.
- Only the playlist transition fails: check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source and confirm VLC is installed.
- OBS is fine but YouTube’s preview is not: check encoder errors, CPU load, stream health, output format, and upload connection.
- The issue happens intermittently rather than at every loop: compare a local recording and YouTube’s preview during the failure; use the evidence to distinguish local output from delivery problems.
Keep the test useful
Record which source type and loop setting you use, the time the video reaches its end, and whether black appears in OBS, the local recording, YouTube’s incoming preview, or only on the watch page. If those checks do not isolate the failure, those details—along with your operating system, encoder, and source settings—are the useful information to gather for further troubleshooting.
