You can attach a YouTube Giving fundraiser to a scheduled YouTube live stream, but access depends on both your channel’s eligibility and the charity’s eligibility. Check both first: YouTube currently lists 10,000 subscribers, YouTube Partner Program membership, an available location, and a channel not designated Made for Kids as creator criteria; the beneficiary must be an eligible U.S. 501(c)(3) Public Charity that meets YouTube Giving requirements. If native fundraising is unavailable, you can link to an external fundraiser from an end screen.
Who can fundraise on YouTube?
Creator requirements
YouTube currently lists four creator criteria for YouTube Giving: your channel must be in a location where the feature is available, have at least 10,000 subscribers, be a YouTube Partner Program member, and not be designated Made for Kids. YouTube cautions that some channels may have access outside these stated criteria, so check YouTube Giving in YouTube Studio rather than treating the list as a guarantee that access is unavailable.
Beneficiary requirements
The beneficiary has separate requirements: it must be a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) Public Charity, be a member of Google for Nonprofits, opt in to online fundraising through GuideStar, and comply with YouTube monetization and community policies. The charity must also opt in to receive money distributed through Network for Good.

Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Earn > Giving.

Select Get started, then Create a fundraiser.

Choose an available eligible nonprofit, or request that a nonprofit be added.

Enter the fundraiser details, including its title and description. You can also add collaborators and set a suggested goal and duration.

Add the video or scheduled live stream you want associated with the fundraiser. Check the stream’s date and ensure it is the intended event.

Publish the fundraiser. You can also configure one while setting up a live stream in Live Control Room under Advanced Settings.

The Donate button appears after the fundraiser’s start date arrives. To show it in live chat, attach the scheduled stream to the fundraiser and enable live chat. YouTube’s setup guidance is available in its fundraiser instructions.
What viewers see when they donate
When the stream is live and live chat is enabled, viewers can use the Donate control in chat; the fundraiser is also shown on the watch page. On a phone, viewers need portrait orientation to see the chat. YouTube says a public Live Chat Donation displays the donor’s account name and donation amount to the creator. Donors can choose not to make the donation public, so do not promise that every donation is anonymous.

YouTube states: “100% of the money you donate will go to the nonprofit. YouTube also covers credit card transaction fees.” Network for Good collects and distributes contributions. YouTube’s FAQ says distributions are typically monthly; if less than $10 is raised, distribution is annual. Donation processing may be non-refundable, and whether a donation is tax-deductible depends on the donor’s location. Check YouTube’s YouTube Giving FAQs and location-specific tax information before making claims about refunds or tax treatment.
If you create a community fundraiser, other eligible channels may join it. Totals can be displayed across participating channels and videos, so don’t attribute the entire displayed total to your stream unless your analytics support that conclusion.

Confirm the fundraiser is published and its start date has arrived. The Donate control is not expected before the campaign begins.

Check that the scheduled live stream is attached to the fundraiser. A fundraiser alone does not attach itself to every stream.

Enable live chat if you expect the Donate control in chat.

Check channel and nonprofit eligibility. Creator access and beneficiary qualifications are separate; review the Giving area in Studio for availability.

Check the viewer’s mobile orientation. Chat is visible in portrait orientation on mobile.
What if I’m not eligible for YouTube Giving?
Google for Nonprofits recommends using a video end screen to link viewers to an external fundraiser, and names GoFundMe and JustGiving as examples of approved third-party fundraising sites. End screens occupy the final 5–20 seconds of a video, according to Google for Nonprofits’ guidance. Before publishing, verify the charity’s campaign URL and the current rules of both YouTube and the fundraising platform. This route does not create YouTube’s native Donate button, and the cited guidance does not establish comparable fees or terms for external platforms.
Keep the live stream simple and compliant
YouTube’s fundraiser setup instructions do not require a particular camera, microphone, lighting kit, or capture device. A webcam can be one optional source for a computer-based broadcast, but it is not a YouTube Giving requirement. Use a stream format you can operate reliably, and follow YouTube’s monetization and community policies alongside the fundraiser requirements.
