You can run a product demonstration on YouTube Live from a mini PC by connecting a camera and microphone, sending the encoder’s feed to a scheduled YouTube event, and checking the stream in Live Control Room before you begin. The mini PC’s ability to handle the job depends on your encoder, camera sources, scene and output settings—YouTube’s guidance does not specify a minimum CPU, memory or GPU. Rehearse the actual setup on the machine you plan to use.
1. Make sure your channel can go live
Before planning the event, check that your channel is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions. YouTube says a channel must have no live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and streamers must be at least 16 under its current eligibility rules. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the event. Check YouTube’s current requirements because platform rules can change. 2. Set up the product shot and audio
Choose a camera connection that works with the mini PC
Frame the product so that viewers can see the details you discuss. If the mini PC does not have a suitable camera, a compatible USB webcam is a straightforward option. For a camera with HDMI output, check the camera and encoder’s connection requirements; you may need a capture device to bring that video into the PC. A capture card is not necessary for every setup. YouTube supports encoder workflows with external video hardware, but its guidance does not prescribe a particular product-demo camera arrangement.
Make speech clear
Use a microphone or headset that suits your room and speaking position. Test it from the same distance and at the same volume you expect to use during the demonstration. Listen for room noise and handling sounds, and confirm that the encoder is receiving the intended microphone rather than a built-in camera or PC mic. YouTube lists external microphones and headsets among typical encoder-stream equipment; neither is mandatory if your existing audio is clear.

Check the mini PC with the complete scene
There is no YouTube-published minimum CPU, RAM or GPU specification for this product-demo workflow. Performance depends on the encoder, connected sources, scene composition and output settings. Build the scene you intend to use, then test it on the actual mini PC while the camera is moving and you are speaking. If video stutters or the encoder struggles, reduce the output resolution or frame rate, simplify the scene, or investigate the specific hardware or encoder bottleneck before the event.
3. Create the YouTube event and connect the encoder

Open YouTube Studio and select Create, then Go live, to enter Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule it for the demo. Set the title, description, audience and privacy deliberately; for a rehearsal, choose a visibility option appropriate to your test rather than assuming the event is private.

In the event’s stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key into the matching fields in your encoder on the mini PC. The exact field names and menus depend on the encoder software. YouTube’s encoder guide explains the platform side of creating a stream.

Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it on screen, include it in a public recording, or share it with people who do not need it. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the replacement key. Prefer RTMPS for secure ingestion when your encoder supports it; YouTube documents stream settings at Manage live stream settings.

Save or apply the encoder settings, but do not wait until the event is underway to discover whether it can connect. You will verify the connection and preview in rehearsal.
4. Choose resolution, frame rate and bitrate for your setup
Use settings that keep the product legible while staying within both the mini PC’s encoding capacity and the connection’s upload capacity. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance includes recommended settings by output format. Use its current table for the resolution and frame rate you select rather than assuming one preset fits every demo.

- Resolution and frame rate: Choose based on how much detail and motion the demo needs and what the mini PC can encode reliably. A close-up of small product details may benefit from more resolution; a mostly stationary demonstration may not need a high frame rate. Test the chosen combination with the real camera and scene.
- Rate control: YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) for encoder settings.
- Keyframes: Set a two-second keyframe interval, and do not exceed four seconds.
- Codec and audio: Follow the codec and audio recommendations in YouTube’s current encoder settings page and confirm the encoder is using the intended audio input.
YouTube transcodes the incoming live feed into playback formats for viewers, but that does not remove the need to send a stable source stream. Test the complete signal chain, including the camera, microphone, encoder and internet connection.
Reserve upload bandwidth
Measure upload capacity on the connection the mini PC will use, not just download speed. YouTube advises that the total outgoing bitrate stay below available upload bandwidth and recommends about 20% headroom beyond the stream bitrate. If you send primary and backup streams, count both in the total. The practical implication is to choose a bitrate the connection can sustain consistently, rather than setting it at the full result of a speed test. YouTube’s streaming tips cover bandwidth planning.

5. Rehearse, preview and monitor the event

Set up the encoder stream at least two hours before the scheduled event, following YouTube’s operational guidance. Start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start so there is time to check the connection.

Run a representative test: move the product as you will during the demonstration, show the details viewers need to inspect, and speak at your planned distance and volume. Check that the mini PC remains responsive and that the encoder output is stable.

Check the incoming feed in Live Control Room’s preview before starting the event. Confirm the correct camera, framing, microphone and audio level. If you make a local recording, verify that it is actually being written and growing as expected.

During the show, keep an eye on stream health and audio/video quality. If health degrades, check upload capacity and encoder load, then lower settings or simplify the scene if needed. Do not wait until viewers report a problem to inspect the control room.

If viewers will ask questions while you handle the product, a more responsive conversation may matter. Lower latency can also increase playback buffering, so test the available latency mode with the intended production and audience rather than assuming the lowest option is always best. HLS has higher latency than RTMP because it delivers segments rather than a continuous feed. YouTube explains HLS setup at Set up an HLS stream and discusses stream settings at Manage live stream settings.
7. Troubleshoot common problems
