You can run a 24/7 YouTube loop from an Indian VPS by configuring OBS Studio to repeat a video and send it to YouTube Live over RTMPS. The hard part is not starting OBS: it is choosing a VPS with enough sustained encoding capacity and monthly outbound transfer, then testing the full chain before relying on it unattended.

What you need before you start

  • A YouTube channel with Live streaming enabled, plus a broadcast and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room.
  • An Indian VPS whose provider permits sustained outbound video streaming and the required outbound RTMPS connection.
  • A supported OBS Studio build for the VPS operating system, a way to access its desktop/session, and a video file you have the right to stream.
  • Enough monthly transfer for the chosen bitrate, plus headroom for audio and protocol overhead.

YouTube’s older OBS community guide says a channel must be verified for its integrated setup and advises waiting 24 hours after verification. That guidance is from an older community guide, so check the current prompts in your own Live Control Room rather than treating the wait period as a universal current rule: OBS community guide.

Choose a VPS for sustained streaming, not just its headline price

There is no single low-cost VPS specification established as suitable for every video, output resolution, frame rate, or nonstop runtime. A listed vCPU count does not prove that OBS can encode continuously without dropped frames. Compare the whole service and test the actual stream before committing to a long billing period.

Compare the terms that affect a 24/7 stream

  • Encoding capacity: Check vCPU type and whether CPU allocation is shared or dedicated. Observe real OBS load and dropped frames during a test.
  • Transfer allowance: Confirm the monthly outbound allowance, which traffic direction is counted, overage pricing, and any fair-use terms. Do not treat “unmetered” as unlimited sustained throughput without checking the policy.
  • Network route and access: Check the India location, route to YouTube ingest, sustained uplink, outbound RTMPS access, and remote desktop support for the VPS operating system.
  • Total cost and recovery: Include taxes, setup fees, backups, support, cancellation/refund terms, and the cost if you exceed transfer.

Illustrative Indian listings, not tested recommendations

Provider listing Displayed configuration and price What to verify
VPSWala ₹298/month; 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 20 GB storage, 100 GB transfer. The provider page says its catalogue was reviewed 2026-08-21. Confirm availability, checkout terms, taxes, streaming policy, and transfer overages. Provider listing.
Kinetix Compute The page advertises India Linux VPS from ₹600/month and separately displays an example at ₹299/month with 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 30 GB storage, and 2 TB. The separate example and “from” figure may describe different offers; confirm the actual plan, billing terms, availability, and streaming policy at checkout. Provider page.

Estimate the bandwidth before buying

At a constant 6 Mbps video bitrate for 30 days, the video payload alone is about 1.94 decimal TB: 6,000,000 bits per second × 2,592,000 seconds ÷ 8. This is a calculation, not a provider or YouTube statistic; it excludes audio and transport overhead. A plan with 100 GB monthly transfer cannot cover a full month at that video rate unless the provider applies a different policy or the stream runs for less time.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Use the bitrate you actually intend to send when estimating transfer. Higher resolution or bitrate raises the requirement; audio and protocol overhead add to the payload. Confirm how the VPS counts traffic and allow margin rather than matching the estimate exactly.

Set YouTube and OBS for a looping stream

  1. Create the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the broadcast and copy its stream key privately. Never expose the key in screenshots, configuration snippets, logs, or a public repository.
  2. Install OBS on the VPS. Use a supported OBS Studio build compatible with the server operating system and arrange a session or remote desktop that suits that installation. Menu labels and control availability can vary by OBS version and OS.
  3. Configure the YouTube connection. In OBS, select the YouTube RTMPS service or an appropriate YouTube service preset, then enter the server URL and stream key supplied by Live Control Room. The endpoint and path must be a valid YouTube RTMPS address. OBS publishes YouTube RTMPS endpoint values in its service configuration: OBS service configuration.
  4. Add the video. In the Sources panel, add a Media Source, select the video file, and enable looping. Confirm that the file plays and returns to its beginning instead of stopping at the end.
  5. Set a conservative output profile. Use YouTube’s encoder guidance below as a platform reference, not a guarantee that a small VPS can encode continuously at that setting. Start modestly, then test CPU load, network throughput, dropped frames, and stream health.
  6. Start with a test broadcast. Use a private, unlisted, or otherwise suitable test. Check the image, audio, loop behavior, stream health, and OBS status before depending on the setup.
  7. Test unattended operation. Restart the VPS and verify that the intended session and OBS start as expected. Configure monitoring or automatic restart only if you understand its behavior; do not assume OBS or YouTube will recover from every server failure or broadcast interruption.

Use YouTube’s encoder settings as your baseline

YouTube’s current encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, accepts H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, frame rates up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends a 2-second keyframe interval that must not exceed 4 seconds. For ordinary stereo audio, YouTube recommends AAC or MP3 at 128 Kbps. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which carries RTMP over TLS/SSL and encrypts the stream into and through Google’s servers. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance and RTMPS encryption guidance.

H.264 output YouTube minimum bitrate YouTube recommended bitrate Practical use
720p30 3 Mbps 6 Mbps A modest starting point to test on constrained compute and network capacity.
1080p30 5 Mbps 10 Mbps Higher transfer demand; use only after verifying sustained capacity.

These are YouTube’s H.264 platform recommendations, not a specific OBS preset or a promise of stream quality. A compatible pre-encoded source file or a lower output profile may reduce compute demand, but check source/output compatibility in OBS and verify the result on the VPS.

Use the right port and protect the stream key

YouTube RTMPS requires outbound port 443 and a valid YouTube endpoint and path. Ask the VPS provider or network administrator to confirm that the actual outbound RTMPS connection is allowed. Do not open port 1935 as a universal YouTube RTMPS requirement: the National Informatics Centre’s webcast guidance mentions outbound RTMP port 1935 in its own context, not as a rule for every YouTube RTMPS setup. Its bandwidth guidance of 2–4 Mbps dedicated per stream is likewise specific to that context, not YouTube’s encoder recommendation: NIC webcast guidance.

Test the whole chain and troubleshoot by symptom

YouTube Help says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream,” and advises: “During the event, monitor the stream health and review messages.” Follow that guidance during setup and while the loop is running: YouTube Help.

Symptom Likely checks and fixes
OBS cannot connect to YouTube Re-copy the current server URL and stream key from Live Control Room, check that the selected service is YouTube RTMPS, and ask the provider whether outbound port 443 to the endpoint is allowed.
OBS connects but YouTube reports unhealthy stream Check output bitrate, CBR, keyframe interval, audio settings, and network stability against YouTube’s guidance. Reduce the output profile and retest if the VPS cannot sustain it.
Dropped frames or intermittent buffering Distinguish network drops from encoding lag using OBS status and CPU/network monitoring. Check sustained VPS throughput and route, reduce bitrate or output demands, and verify transfer/fair-use limits with the provider.
Video stops instead of looping Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm looping is enabled and the selected file remains present and readable in the VPS session.
Stream works until the VPS restarts Check how the VPS session and OBS are launched after boot; test the restart procedure deliberately. A restarted VPS does not by itself guarantee that the YouTube broadcast resumes.
Stream stops after a YouTube interruption Inspect the active broadcast state in Live Control Room and OBS connection status, then reconnect using the correct key and endpoint as needed. Recovery behavior depends on configuration and YouTube’s active broadcast state.
