How much faster is the RTX 5070 Ti?
In Tom’s Hardware’s rasterization gaming benchmark suite, the RTX 5070 was 20% slower than the RTX 5070 Ti at 1440p and 24% slower at 4K. That makes the Ti the stronger choice if you want more graphics headroom, especially at 4K. Do not confuse generated-frame comparisons with native rendering
NVIDIA’s own 1440p maximum-settings performance graphic enables DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, and uses Multi Frame Generation 4X on 50-series cards. That is a feature-assisted comparison, not a measure of native-rendering performance. Use review benchmarks with matching test conditions when comparing how the cards render games.

Is 16 GB of VRAM worth choosing over 12 GB?
The RTX 5070 Ti has 16 GB of GDDR7, while the RTX 5070 has 12 GB. The extra capacity can be useful with demanding games, high-resolution textures, and other workloads that occupy substantial GPU memory. Whether it matters for a particular title depends on its settings and memory use; the capacity difference alone does not establish a specific performance gain or how long either card will remain suitable.
Which card is the better value?
NVIDIA announced US launch MSRPs of $549 for the RTX 5070 and $749 for the RTX 5070 Ti in January 2025, a $200 gap at launch. These are historical launch prices, not October 2026 street prices. Because current retail prices and availability are not established here, compare the actual prices of the specific cards you can buy rather than assuming the launch gap still applies. Choose the RTX 5070 if
- You can get it at a substantially lower current price and its performance suits your target resolution and settings.
- You do not need the Ti’s additional 4 GB of VRAM for the games or workloads you run.
- Your system is better matched to the reference card’s lower power recommendation, subject to the exact board model and system configuration.
Choose the RTX 5070 Ti if
- You want the higher performance shown in the cited 1440p and 4K rasterization results.
- You value the additional memory capacity for high-resolution textures or memory-intensive games.
- The Ti’s actual price premium is acceptable for the extra performance and VRAM you will use.
Is either card a worthwhile upgrade from an RTX 4070 Super?
Not necessarily if you are expecting a large jump from an RTX 4070 Super to an RTX 5070. TechSpot’s 16-game 1440p test suite found the RTX 5070 averaged 1% faster than the RTX 4070 Super in its test configuration. That narrow result is specific to those games and settings, but it is a reason for 4070 Super owners to compare their actual alternatives carefully rather than treating the 5070 as an automatic upgrade. Check power and physical fit before buying
NVIDIA recommends a 650 W system power supply for the RTX 5070 reference design and 750 W for the RTX 5070 Ti. These recommendations depend on the rest of the system, and board partners may specify different requirements. Before purchase, check the exact card manufacturer’s guidance for PSU capacity and connectors, then confirm the card’s length and thickness will fit your case.

Verdict
The RTX 5070 Ti is the performance pick, with 16 GB of memory and a clear lead in Tom’s Hardware’s cited rasterization tests. The RTX 5070 is the better buy only when its actual price advantage outweighs the Ti’s extra speed and capacity for your needs. For RTX 4070 Super owners, the cited 1440p comparison suggests the standard 5070 may be too small an upgrade to justify a swap on performance alone.
